News24 - Man Utd fans aren't letting Piers Morgan get away with Mourinho tweet vs Bournemouth - Duration: 4:16.

To say Manchester United are getting on fine without Jose Mourinho would be putting things mildly

Under the self-proclaimed 'Special One', the Red Devils had become bogged down in negative results and the 3-1 defeat to Liverpool proved the final straw for United's hierarchy

They took the decision to sack Mourinho after two-and-a-half seasons, quickly appointing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the interim manager ahead of a permanent replacement next summer

It's been a matter of weeks since that very narrative unfolded and the ambience at Old Trafford is already markedly different from all the drama of Mourinho's tenure

United are already playing more attacking football, rumours of player-manager spats have been completely erased and the squad are actually taking to the pitch with a smile on their face

Positive results under Solskjaer  And the positive changes are being reflected in the results, as the Solskjaer era began with an impressive 5-1 victory over Cardiff City and then a 3-1 win against Huddersfield Town

That run continued over the weekend as Bournemouth were put to the sword, allowing Solskjaer to record the astonishing stat of having overseen 27

5% of United's Premier League goals this season.  However, as many have liked to point out, Solskjaer hasn't been truly tested in the role yet and the Red Devils have been facing lower-league opposition ever since Mourinho's exit

Piers Morgan's Mourinho tweet  As a result, there's still plenty of skeptics amongst the Premier League fandom and upcoming fixtures with Newcastle United, Burnley and Brighton & Hove Albion certainly won't quell the doubters

And few have expressed their reservations more vocally than Piers Morgan, who took to Twitter as he saw United bulldozing their way past Bournemouth

Morgan - an incredibly vocal Arsenal fan - sparked plenty of controversy by suggesting that Mourinho would have secured victories over Huddersfield, Cardiff and Bournemouth himself

It's fair to say United fans were having none of it. Check out his tweet and the reaction below:  Are you sure about that, Piers?  While, on paper, a top-class manager like Mourinho would look to secure wins in those games, the evidence across this season suggests the Red Devils would have slipped up at least once

Plenty of supporters listed games that United should have won but didn't in the comments section and Morgan would surely struggle for a rebuttal

And as some have pointed out, even if Mourinho did secure three wins, they wouldn't have arrived in the same free-flowing fashion that has been witnessed under Solskjaer

United have romped their way to 12 goals in just three games, a statistic that the club simply wasn't achieving amid Mourinho's impetus on defensive work

Nevertheless, there is some truth in the risk of getting overly exciting about Solskjaer's United and the upcoming match with Tottenham will be the first, real test

If they maintain their exciting brand of football, though, they stand a good chance

Do you think Solskjaer should be considered for the permanent role? Have your say in the comments section below
