In today's market, there's no such thing as having too many high-riding vehicles. And Kia knows this all too well, so they're prepping another one, which is based on the new-gen Ceed
Believed to be called the XCeed, a clear reference to its origins, it will slot between the Stonic and Sportage, and will probably premiere at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, on March 5, before going on sale later this year, Autocar reports
The XCeed was spied testing last year, and it looks like a jacked-up hatchback. Its size, underpinnings and price range will place it against the Volkswagen Golf Alltrack, Ford Focus Active and Subaru XV/Crosstrek
It will also become the fourth member of the new Ceed family, after the hatchback, Sportswagon and ProCeed
Despite the updated look and increased ground clearance compared to the regular Ceed, the XCeed is believed maintain its front-wheel drive layout
However, the Korean automaker could fit it with a few special driving modes that will be set up to improve traction on slippery surfaces such as snow and ice
The engine lineup will include most or perhaps all the units found in the new Ceed
Thus, prospective buyers should expect the 1.0-liter three-cylinder and 1.4-liter petrol units, rated at 118 PS (116 hp / 87 kW) and 138 PS (136 hp / 101 kW), respectively
