"I was only six years old when my family's trajectory changed forever."

Those are the words of writer Morgan Jerkins, niece of writers/producers Rodney and

Fred Jerkins, in reference to how Brandy and 1998 changed everything for her family.

At that time, Morgan was traveling a lot, being homeschooled, and lived in

the Oakwood Apartments in Woodland Hills with her family and many other aspiring

up-and-comers in the entertainment industry...like Hilary Duff. Morgan stated that,

"..some of the biggest memories that I have are not necessarily of the stargazing,

but of time spent in recording studios throughout Los Angeles, where my uncles,

Rodney and Freddie, were working around the clock with Brandy for her sophomore album,

Never Say Never."

After meeting Brandy at a restaurant in Los Angeles, Rodney and his colleagues ended up

completing five songs in five days. Brandy was already a platinum-selling R&B star with

a hit TV show, but that is when things went to the next level.

Morgan remembers first meeting Brandy while she was eating food from Taco Bell

in the studio. Goals! She even experienced Brandy and Monica walking in and out of the

booth recording the soon to be iconic "The Girl Is Mine."

Morgan says of the track, "According to my uncles, initially, the recording executives did not

want 'The Boy is Mine' to be the first single. 'We went up to bat for that song,'

my uncle Freddie explains. 'It was going against the grain. The industry was really

sample-driven at the time, and 'The Boy is Mine' wasn't."

Good choice, fellas. "The Boy is Mine" went on to sell over two millions copies domestically,

and sat at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for 13 weeks.

Rev. Morgan-Thomas: Preserving an artform - Duration: 2:37.

I wear a hat every day. A hat gives you a great deal of confidence.

Hats stand for the empowerment of women.

And when a women is about to take care of business...

she puts on her hat.

I'm Reverend Georgiette Morgan-Thomas, and I'm the proud owner of American Hats.

I grew up during the Civil Rights Movement...

and so all the women that I knew when they marched...

they put on their hats.

During the Women's Suffrage Movement, women wore hats.

For many, many, years I've worked as a social worker, a pastor and a community leader.

Two years ago, I was thinking about retirement.

I learned that the legendary S&S Hats factory in Philadelphia was closing.

People were going to lose their jobs and the art form of hat making was going to be jeopardized.

So, I bought the factory.

This was something way outside of the things that I've usually done.

But I felt that I can do the impossible.

In the beginning the transition was really tough.

I had to get up at 3:30 in the morning and get on the train and go to Philadelphia.

I knew nothing about manufacturing,

so that was extremely risky.

The factory had a customer base that was strictly dress hats.

And so what we had to do survive, was to develop hats that were more casual...

and that would be more appealing to a younger and broader base.

I began to understand that there was this tool that can be used on the computer to boost our sales.

Now we're finding that we're doing about 45 percent of our business online.

We have a lot of new customers who are finding us.

The struggle is starting to be joy because the company is seeing a profit.

One of my ambitions for this place in my life...

is to become the most outstanding manufacturer of hats in the world.

What's most important is that we have left our impact upon others...

and especially those who love us.

Because, that's how our story continues on.

Morgan Freeman ual misconduct row heats up as CNN defends story - Duration: 4:21.

CNN's lawyers have told Morgan Freeman they are willing to go to court after the actor demanded the network retract its report alleging the actor was guilty of sexual misconduct

Last week the news network published a story claiming the 80-year-old Hollywood legend was guilty of sexual harassment and inappropriate behaviour towards women in the workplace

Freeman, who turns 81 on June 1, initially apologised but in a second statement insisted he "did not assault women" before his lawyers demanded the story was retracted

CNN replied with a statement standing by the report and has now issued a legal letter to Freeman's lawyer Robert Schwartz

CNN's senior vice president of legal David Vigilante said the original letter demanding a retraction was "designed for press consumption, it is rife with empty speculation, overheated rhetoric, and in some instances plainly false assertions"

It added: "The overheated protestations in your letter do not cast any shadow on the central gravamen of CNN's story - that Morgan Freeman engaged in a pattern of behaviour that demeaned and sexualised women, whether or not they were in his employ

" Mr Schwartz's letter targeted Chloe Melas, one of the CNN reporters who wrote the originally story and who spoke on the record about her experiences with the actor

CNN defended their journalist in Thursday's response, writing: "Rather than identify any specific aspects of the CNN report as false or wrong you engage in a lengthy and baseless ad hominem attack on one of the women who reported the story

" The letter finished with a warning to Mr Schwartz, claiming his representation of Freeman was a conflict of interest because his law firm has been working for CNN in intellectual property cases

A spokesman for Freeman said: "CNN's letter is long on saber-rattling but short on substance

It fails to address the compelling evidence we provided that the story was tarnished by manipulation of the facts and conflict of interest

It was flawed from its inception and still is. Enough is enough." CNN spoke to 16 people who described a pattern of behaviour, including a production assistant on the film Going In Style who alleged that Freeman had repeatedly attempted to lift her skirt

He was also accused of making comments about women's clothing or bodies, with some alleged incidents taking place in front of witnesses and even on camera, according to the report

The news outlet said they had spoken to three entertainment reporters who claimed Freeman made inappropriate remarks during interviews, including Ms Melas, who was pregnant at the time and co-wrote the investigation

She alleged he shook her hand and repeatedly looked her up and down and said "I wish I was there", and "You are ripe", less than a year ago
