Hello. How are you? My name is Ariel Cruz Pizarro
I'm a writer and the creator of
administracionytrasportes.cl
Today we are gointo to
go on Route E07 of Transantiago
Around the commune of La Florida, and in particular
we'll do it in the only hybrid bus Vule enterprise has.
The only hybrid bus in Transantiago
So, come with me. We'll have a good time
And, maybe the E07 has appeared
or will appear again in other videos, but
this is a different one. So,
more than focussing on the route itself
I'll focus on the experience in the bus
and some conversations I had with Luis Valenzuela
that was the driver I travelled with
Enjoy it!
This video is sponsored by the book "Corte de cinta"
This is a book written by me
that's about public transport
Especifically, experiences in the public transport
There are short stories, poetry, and novels
Ans it includes experiences in the Transantiago, Metro,
and the yellow buses, among others.
You can buy it for $15.000 (chilean pesos) contacting me
to mai email adress that is on the screen
I also want to promote my services

Now, let's go to the bus!
The Route E07 it's a local route of La Florida
It starts in Bellavista de La Florida
In the 14th stop of Vicuña Mackena Av.
Until almost the end of Rojas Magallanes Av.
In a trip that has almost 7 km
depending on the direction of the route
In this journey, we'll take it both ways
But, as I said before, I'll focus more on the bus
experience that the route itself
Here you can see some buses from Vule
that are being tried on for Route E07
These buses have been tried
on blocks for different routes. The 315 express,
301,
E11, and, at the moment of making this video,
E07.
They are 2 Euro6 units
An Euro5 bus
An electric bus, and this hybrid bus
So, in total. This units have been
moving together in different routes
to test their performance, emitions, meditions
about their operations
Here you can see the bus comming up from Rojas Magallanes Av.
until the end of route E07
After some days making videos and taking photos
of the hybrid bus from the outside
I went with the driver, Luis Valenzuela
in the route E07
The journey was very quick with a very good conversation
about a lot of things, like the bus and life.
Like usual, there was a lot of people waiting in Vicente Valdez (metro)
But not everyone took route E07
We passed Vicuña Mckena Av. and, fortunately,
the bus wasn't so full
The trip , fortunately for us, was very quick
especially because of the hour
With Luis you can see that the buttons of the doors,
and the configuration of the electic pannel are
withing reach for the driver's hand
Now we are crossing La Florida Av.
We begin to go up Rojas Magallanes Av
That corresponds to
La Loma neighbourhood
All this zone, of Rojas Magallanes,
since the San Carlon cannal and upwards,
It was urbanized since 2007
2008-2009
Here we are at Cabezal Jardin Alto
We can see some parts of Santiago with a lot
of smog
This is the first and only hybrid bus
that exists in Transantiago
Hyvrid means that it works thanks to electicity and diesel
It has both technologies
It has 13,2 square mts. long
it fullfils the 2.0 requirements of Transantiago
It has a great capacity, 108 passengers
It has 32 seats
Of which 30 are normal seats
3 are preferential
ans 2 are wide. For people with special necesities
like using crutches
etc
The bus it's highlated for
not having a lot of space for people to stand, almost all of the space
is occupied by seats, but
you can still use the space between
the seats and the second door
like a space to stand up
apart from the space of the doors
the bus was homologued in 2015
But, it started to
work in the public transport system in 2016
with Buses Vule
And in route I01
Personally, I think it's one of
the best buses we have and it's also one of my favorites
And I had the opportunity of seeing it in person in route I09
and in the Transurbano event in 2016
Where it was in exhibition showing it's
hybrid technology
and the quality of it's construction
It's the only Marcopolo Viale BRS bus that
we have in Chile at the moment
Because the rest of the Marcopolo buses are
Gran Viale, Viale or Torino
but this one is Viale BRS
This time we are not taking any passangers. We are "on transit"
to service
I went with Luis to
Las Perdices terminal to charge the bus
with fusel oil (petrolium) . This is usually called "petrolear"
At the same time, they checked the aurea or
adlu, that it's used to reduce emitions
With this I'm showing you a bit of other parts of La Florida
It's free on this side
L: This is the only church that was standing A: ok
L:After the flood up there. A: In the Macul ravine?
L: yeah
I took advantage of the trip out of service
to interview Luis
To ask him about his experiences
I drive a bus with cutting-edge technology
It's an hybrid bus
Very quiet. And I imagine that it doesn't contaminate
A very good machine
The fact of being electric
when you press the brake
the batteries are being charged gradually
The stop has to be
not abrupt
A: gradual L: gradual
A gradual stop
poeple like it
especially the kids
this pretty bus from the inside
the mileage is 120.791, 5 km (75056,1 miles)
the intake is of 3.5 aproximately
practically nothing
Thta this is good, it's good
excellent
The other thing...
Is it true that when the bus stops you can feel
like it's tuned off?
Yes. The bus, in reality,
A: now it's quiet in fact L: Yes. Now
it's totally quiet
there is no soise fron anything. You fell nothing
but if you accelerate gradually
it's a totally quiet start
it's like saying " the bus stoped we are in "pana" (stranded)"
but, in fact, it's not like that
A: It's working but with the electic motor
It's working with the electric motor
Poeple can talk inside quietly
Now, look
You can see that Santiago
it's surrounded by lots of hills. Hills (x4)
I don't think that anyone though that this city would grow so much
nope
We came back to Cabezal Jardín Alto (terminal)
just in time for the sunset. It was beutiful
to look at from up there
Ariel... It's the first time in my life that I'm goin to do something like this
greet my granddaughter like this. In this manner
I started to drive very young
especially when the buses had many colors
In fact
then they changed to the yellow ones. I was there too.
I worked in the Metro too
But all
all started like that
because of my dad
My dad always had machines. Always had buses
Do you
remember your first route or enterpise that you worked for?
the first one
the first route when I was
with my dad
was in La Colonia El Llano
That was my first route, when I first started
I imagine that you started at 18 - 20 years old
Yes, more or less that age
between 18 20 years old
Now I'm going for 60
now in August
of 2018. I'm going 60.
And from there I hadn't moved . Always related with
with public transport. And, in that time
I started at Plaza Castelar (Castelar square)
That was in San Miguel
From Plaza Castelar until
the 18th stop with Alameda Av.
and from there, Alameda Av. until
Colón Av.
Around Vital Apoquindo, Diprega, those places
yeah
A: Where there houses at that time? L: No,
at that time there weren't. But
now, I think there must be now
A: yes, now there are. L: since now everythig is populated with buildings and houses
A: And I imagine that, when you were little, you went on a bycicle
you accompanied up and down
He took me everywhere
when I was little
I cut tickets
Later I
