2019 Audi Q8 50 TDI & Audi A6 Avant 40 TDI Review by AutoTopNL (English Subtitles) - Duration: 7:48.

We're driving the new flagship Audi

the Q8

because the crisis is over

you can drive a huge SUV again

with, of course, a Coupé roofline

and as sort of a counterpart

we've got the more traditional Audi

the Audi A6 Avant

the car with which they've made their mark

and this new A6 Avant

is a beauty

just looking at the different colours

you can see the different approaches

this is very big, showy, new

the A6 is more conservative

keeping it more modest and silver

let's do it like we always do it

just a bit better

is this a Q7 in a different suit?

No, it's a completely new animal

it reminds me most of the Lamborghini Urus

and not only the interior

which is almost identical

with the new MMI 3 screen setup

but also driving it

this is so much more sporting

than a Q7

and I like the fact that

with this impressive looking Audi

the handling actually matches the looks

a Q7 S-line also looks sporting

this also has an S-line pack

but this handles the way it looks

and I really like that

this one is even sharper

because of the S-line pack

but also because of the performance wheels

these are 22" wheels

which you can also get on an SQ7

which means you have less high rubber

so a bit sharper steering

the drivetrain is a 50 TDI

you can also go for a 45 TDI

or a 55 TFSI

this 50 TDI is adequate

I wouldn't go for the 45 TDI

I wouldn't want to downsize

with a car this heavy

this V6 Diesel with 286 HP / 600Nm

is nice, but nothing more

this car, in ideal circumstances

would have a V8

I have to say that

if you want to push this car

this one does 6.3s to 100 km/h

which is not that imposing

imposing is what everything about this car

should be if you ask me

if you want to experience it

in optima forma

wait for the V8

that will undoubtedly come

but that also highlights

one of the problems of an SUV

it's big, high, heavy

and to get it moving

you need a big engine

the recent shift to SUV's

is it the right move?

because the engines are getting smaller

shouldn't you go back to the Avant

where a lot of SUV buyers came from

they came from an A6 Avant

and went into the Q7, Q5 and now Q8

maybe they should go

for that new A6 Avant

where a smaller engine

might deliver the same result

because this A6 Avant is a 40 TDI

which is not a V6 but a 4-cilinder

with 204 HP / 400 Nm

but because it's a lot lighter

and more aerodynamic

it doesn't feel that much slower

it's quite a nice engine

and it get's up to speed nicely

and this is just the base engine

you can also get a V6 Diesel in the A6

the interior is very similar to the Q8

but I actually prefer this interior

they've used a lot more aluminium in here

like the frames around the MMI system

and the seating position is nicer

a bit lower of course

it's a bit more sporting

which we prefer of course

sporting drivers at AutoTopNL

and this also has an S-line pack

so it has sport suspension

nice wheels

S-line trim, S-line seats

and this wheel design

is a version of the RS6 Performance wheel

everyone loved that one

so they decided to make it available

it also has Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires

which are great

and make the car feel very sticky

like I said, it's a 204 HP Diesel

so it's not very fast

but once you've got it going

you can really attack corners

with confidence

the S-line suspension does its job

it's quite communicative

in the end it's nicer to drive

than that Q8

of course the Q8 is very impressive

but also in size

and I have to say

here in The Netherlands

with those narrow streets

it's very wide

this A6 is more at home here

has been around for years

and blends into the environment

it's not like

"Hey, look at me! I'm a huge Audi..

..with super special lights"

this is more incognito

offers almost the same

without the flashiness

and at a lower rate

this A6 Avant with all these options

is just under €100.000,-

that Q8 with options

€150.000,-

which is a lot

on the other hand

if I compare it to the Bentley Bentayga

and the Lamborghini Urus

it's not that expensive

and I have to say

I think it's the best looking of the 3

that's what this car is

I keep coming back to that

it's one of the most impressive cars

money can buy
