In this video,
I'll be showing how I removed the headlight and corner light
to replace the halogen and Xenon bulbs
I'll be doing this in my E46
a 2004 BMW 330i ZHP
I'll begin on the right side.
Here, there are one, two,
three and
four
8mm screws.
First, I'll remove this corner light.
by loosening this phillips screw
Then, pull the light out.
Twist the bulb connector to remove it.
This light has an issue.
I'll deal with it on another video
I'll remove this trim.
It has some hooks
They are hooked here and here
and on this side.
To remove the headlight,
I'll use a socket
an 8mm socket,
some extensions
for the left side and for the back
I'll start with the difficult one.
to remove the headlight
just pull it
Next, I'll disconnect it
There are four connectors
This white with black
This one is gray
after that, the headlight can be removed.
This is the high beam
This is the low beam
Today, I'll be replacing
the projector bulb, a Xenon bulb
I have
This bulb which is
D2S 35 Watts from OSRAM
To replace the bulb,
Press these tabs to remove cover
I then rotate this counterclockwise
I pull it out
To remove the bulb,
grab these metal wires
and press down
then outwards towards the sides
after this,
the bulb can be taken out.
When putting the new bulb,
make sure the notch faces up.
The bulb only fits in one way.
We lock the wires
outwards, then inwards.
put this back
then turn it
last, I'll put...
this cap back on.
This was...
to replace the bulb...
located inside here.
To replace the high beam's bulb
remove this cover.
The bulb is here
and it has...
a metal clip that's locking the bulb.
I'll press with my finger
first down then out to the side.
I'll start with this one.
That's one, now the other.
this allows the bulb...
...to be taken out.
To unplug it, just wiggle it.
There it is.
This side...
goes on the side of the black wire.
So, when you put it back,
this goes with the black wire.
With the bulb,
never touch the glass with your hands.
it could leave a fingerprint
and since we have oil
when the bulb heats up,
that oil will burn
and it'll make the bulb...
burnout faster.
Now, to put it back...
this tab...
goes inside here.
I'll put it back
I'll move the wire out of the way
The bulb sits flush.
then, the metal wire
needs to be hooked back on.
One side is done
the other one too.
The cover goes back on.
Now, I'll put the headlight back on.
One thing to note here
are these two guides.
that go...
one here...
and over here.
First, I'll connect the cables.
There are four in total.
The gray one goes on this side.
Then the white one goes here.
the white with black...
goes on this side.
the black connector...
goes here.
Keep an eye on the guides below.
Start pushing the light into place.
this headlight gasket...
is very old.
Good thing it's easy to replace.
Just need to unhooked from the top.
It has 5 hooks.
after that you could put in a new one.
Verify that all the holes line up.
Here's one...
two...
here's the third
over here, it's hard to see
but the other one is there.
and yes, it's aligned and ready
to screw them in.
For the difficult one,
the one over here,
I'll be using
the extension
and a piece of towel.
It's to prevent it from falling off.
Last, the ones on the top.
I'll put the trim that goes here.
these two here
go here
this one goes inside there
these go below the headlight
and this one goes on this side.
These two are aligned.
Make sure that
before you push it in,
that all the tabs
are inside their holes
There it is.
All good.
Now for last,
I'll put the corner light.
Don't forget to put
this thingy that goes here.
There are three things to notice
and those are the guides.
One here,
two, and three.
Here goes one, two...
and three
Connect the bulb
Align the guides
There it is.
