Canada's 2019 Nissan Altima Gets Standard AWD But Not The VC-Turbo Engine - Duration: 2:26.

The all-new 2019 Altima comes equipped with all-wheel drive as standard in Canada

That's not entirely due to the country's proverbial cold climate, however.Nissan Canada is hoping the 2019 Altima will provide an alternative to crossovers and SUVs, in addition to luring buyers who want all-wheel drive but prefer a more traditional sedan

In the United States, the new Altima offers all-wheel drive as an option."We really wanted to make the Altima stand out in the segment, so we decided to make it standard across all models," Nissan Canada's deputy general manager Brent Smith explained to Automotive News Canada

The executive added that Canadian consumers see AWD as an increasingly important purchase decision

While Nissan hopes the AWD Altima will steal sales from crossovers and SUVs, it doesn't worry about the sedan cannibalizing sales from its own crossovers

According to Smith, the bulk of sales will be conquests from rival sedans and crossovers, particularly among buyers who choose a crossover only to get AWD

Obviously, the new Altima is also expected to attract previous Altima buyers.Interestingly, none of the Altima's main competitors, which include the Toyota Camry, Mazda6, Chevrolet Malibu and Honda Accord, offer all-wheel drive

The only sedan in the segment that comes with standard AWD is the Subaru Legacy.Unlike the United States, however, in Canada, the 2019 Altima doesn't offer the 2.0-liter VC-Turbo four-cylinder gasoline engine as an option, because it's not available with all-wheel drive

Instead, all Altima models sold in Canada feature the 188-hp 2.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder unit

The 2019 Nissan Altima starts at C$29,793 (including destination) in Canada, making it only slightly more expensive than its rivals

Nissan Juke Turned Into A Snowmobile For Tokyo Auto Salon - Duration: 1:38.

In two weeks, the 2019 Tokyo Auto Salon will officially open its gates.Nissan will, of course, be present at its home country's event and, like other manufacturers that will attend the show, will display a few custom projects

One of them is the Juke Nismo RSnow, a muscled-up version of the subcompact SUV only with tracks instead of wheels

The concept car features fender flares as well, along with a roof rack with LED lights, and wears a two-tone paintjob, combining white with matte black and somee vibrant green accents

Nissan seems to have a soft spot for fitting their vehicles with tracks instead of wheels

Last year, they presented the Rogue Trail Warrior Concept at the New York Auto Show, which succeeded the Rogue Warrior Concept unveiled in Canada in 2016

Joining the Juke Nismo RSnow at the 2019 Tokyo Auto Salon will be the X-Trail Naomi Osaka Concept, along with the Leaf Nismo RC and Formula E electric racers

Moreover, Nissan's lineup will also include a number of other vehicles like the Elgrand Sports Premium and Leaf Autech as well as a selection of production models like the GT-R Special Edition, X-Trail, Serena and Note, and the Leaf Nismo, Note e-Power Nismo S and Serena Nismo

2019 Nissan Altima Challenges 2019 Toyota Camry For Family Car Supremacy - Duration: 2:06.

Reviews of the all-new 2019 Nissan Altima have been positive so far.The sixth-generation Altima is not only miles better than its predecessor, but it also has the potential to upset the established order in the midsize sedan segment

Speaking of hierarchy, the new Altima needs to beat the 2019 Toyota Camry if Nissan wants to claim the crown in this highly-contested segment that has been mostly a Japanese affair for many years now

As the segment's best-seller, the Camry is a tough nut to crack, especially with its redesign for the 2018 model year

So, does the new Altima have what it takes to dethrone the Camry? To answer this question, Redline Reviews pitted the two Japanese sedans against each other

Both are in range-topping trims; the Altima is in Platinum VC-Turbo guise with the turbo-four engine, while the Camry is V6 XLE

While beauty is in the eye of the beholder, the reviewer found the cabin of the Camry a more enjoyable place to be

The fit and finish are better, as is the quality of the materials.For example, the Altima features a cheap-looking fake wood trim and the leather on the steering wheel feels like vinyl rather than real leather

On the other hand, the Nissan offers a better infotainment system than the Toyota

It integrates both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto while the Camry only comes with Apple CarPlay connectivity — and only starting with the 2019 model year
