From "A" to "Z",
not leaving anything out,
not even the most hidden corner of the underbody.
This was the almost maniacal work
that Ennio Zamperini thought and started doing
on his 1980 Porsche 911 Turbo,
the one signed by the Carmaker
with the project number 930/60.
When Ennio had found the 930 in 2012,
the body and the engine lay side by side, separated.
So he had the idea to rebuilt everything
to prepare it for the track
following what was the racing regulation for the Group 4
of the Seventies.
Here instead, hidden behind the most classic
of the distinctive signs of the 911 Turbo
the huge rear spoiler,
there is the 3.3-liter boxer engine
which today has 413 hp
compared to the original 300.
And an equally huge intercooler crafted on top
like a Doric capital.
Crouching in the history,
feeling the smell,
made of mechanics, oil, and details
that are immediately on you without filters.
The driving experience on this 911
starts before giving life to the engine,
when you start looking at it
touching it
and then you go there to sit in the racing seats
admiring the original dashboard.
The 6-cylinder boxer
thanks to the oversized turbine Garrett K26
makes all its revs feel
as it climbs the unmistakable metallic sound.
The 930, with its short wheelbase,
is fast and nimble between the curves.
Always requires working on steering,
throttle and brakes.
This 930 does not drive you,
you have to drive it.
The four-speed transmission is the original one
signed 930/34.
The setup has been completely retuned,
starting from the reinforcements to the frame
and the suspensions on uniball
which make driving more precise
sharper and funnier.
It has been a long both functional
and aesthetic improvement.
But the spirit of the first Porsche Turbo
has never been betrayed,
it has remained intact, mechanical and pure.
