Auto news on Youtube Nov 30 2018

One of the projects we have at the workshop of Schmiedmann Nordborg

is a really nice BMW E90 320I from 2010.

with an N43 engine

The engine is going to have a new chain kit, and we already have installed the kit in this car.

The issue with the chain on this type of car is first of all,

the chain stretches is gets too long as the car has run enough miles

Second, in time the guide rails becomes porous and brakes apart

And that causes the chain to become loose and fragments of the chain kit falls into the oil pan

The oil pan has to dismounted in order to reset the balance shafts on the oil pump.

Here we have the dismounted chain kit - the old chain kit

The problem with this one was not that the chain was too long, but the guide rail as you can see here

on one side and on top, and there is abrasion materials on the long side too.

Here are all the fragments we removed from the oil pan.

The fragments comes from the long side of the guide rail

They have gotten loose and fallen into the oil pan.

At the same time, the chain has become to slack

Not only do these small pieces get into the oil pan, they also get into the oil strainer

Especially the small fragments get into the oil strainer where the engine draws oil, and that is not good.

2019 BMW C 400 GT — PRICE & SPECIFICATIONS - Duration: 2:10.

BMW Motorrad expands its C 400 range with a Gran Turismo version designed to bring some

long-distance capabilities to the table.

This mid-size scooter features comfort amenities alongside safety features that deliver peace

of mind, and let's face it, peace of mind has a comfort factor all its own.

The display screen acts as a window to the scooter's soul through the CAN bus system

to connect the instrumentation, engine control unit, ABS, and the wireless Bluetooth connection

that pulls your phone and helmet into the network.

Up top, a large windscreen carries a dramatic kick about two-thirds of the way up to punch

a hole for the rider's upper torso and head with a vented design that provides some vacuum

relief to prevent excessive head-buffet effect where the wind-pocket and slipstream meet.

Behind the glass is an LCD screen that serves as the stock instrument panel.

Dual, 265 mm discs and four-pot calipers slow the front wheel with a third like-sized disc

and single-piston caliper out back.

The BMW Motorrad ABS provides the first layer of safety gadgetry as part of the standard

equipment package, but certainly not the last.

Price is still up in the air, but I'm looking for a sticker that lands somewhere around

the $10 K mark.

BMW 7 Series 2018 - เทคโนโลยีเรือธงจากยุโรปรีวิวทุกฟังก์ชั่นและการขับขี่ | Carnest Review [Eng.Sub.] - Duration: 11:59.

BMW characteristics is sporty

Great driving experience, great performance. But

To be honest, I'm a bit worry for this BMW 7 series.

Let's go see why.

The BMW 7 series

Starts at 5.7 million thb

Moving up the model range will grant you the petrol plug-in hybrid engine.

And lastly

The top model, BMW 7 Series M sport, filled with features and accessories

Which is priced at 6.3 million thb.

There are only 4 colors available.

White , black, silver and grey.

Take a look at this key.

Which is a 2.2 Inches touch screen key

it is use mostly for notifications

You can check whether the car's locked or if you left a window open.

Whether the lights are turned off, and remaining fuel range.

Personally,

it feels slow and unresponsive.

isn't that useful.

Lets take a look at the interior

BMW has kept its original design.

which is very familiar with previous generations BMWs.

In my opinion,

BMW's design philosophy is more of a evolutionary, rather than revolutionary.

As you can see, the button placements

and screen placements

are still installed in very similar place as the previous generations.

Some would like to see some changes made from BMW,

like how Mercedes-Benz did with their newer models. When Merce changes, they restart with a blank slate.

Moreover, for the built quality and materials quality

It does not disappoint. Giving the car a luxury feel to it.

BMW uses metal, wood

and glass like coating which suits well together.

And

I tried moving the parts, but it won't budge which means that it is fitted perfectly.

Nothing seems to have a problem here in the built quality department here.

The cup holders are a bit small though,

they only fits half liter bottles.

the liter bottles won't fit.

The center console storage unit

has usb chager,

but the overall storage space is still quite small.

BMW is filled with new technology

the BMW i-drive

has given us a lot of option to control it.

Firstly, the swivel wheel,

I find myself using the swivel wheel as the main control 70%-80%of the time.

You also can control the iDrive via this device.

It's a touch pad on top of the swivel wheel.

Despite my poorly written hand writing, the system can guess what I was writing.

Now,

the voice command system

I can speak English with a strong Thai accent.

but the system can still recognize what I am trying to say.

MAP!

The car recognize my voice and command it to the map

Next, the 2 new things that have been added

are the touch screen and hand gestures command.

Honestly, I might need more time with

the touch screen system. Having to reach to the screen while driving, makes me feels a bit odd.

Therefore, most of the time I prefer the swivel wheel over the touch screen.

But

What I frequently use with the touch screen

is the zoom feature. To see further details on the maps, whether zooming in or zooming out.

Moving on,

the hand gesture command,

which is quite interesting to say the least.

You can increase and decrease the volume. By spinning your finger in either directions.

What I like most,

is the customization of your hand gesture

by using the 2 fingers command.

What I use it for most of the time is

to navigate the map back to my house.

Using the two fingers to aggressively point at the iDrive.

You can say that this generation

of the iDrive system is easy to use and very convenient.

Arguably, one of the best in the market right now.

We now have checked over the front seat technologies.

But before driving let's go check out the rear trunk space.

The trunk space is more than large enough.

As you can see,

**Hands Free Access: Allows you to open the trunk without using your hands.**

The trunk opening is

very wide, however the inside is

when you put your luggage in there

It's shaped a bit like a rectangle, it goes in deep.

But, you must be careful.

The rear seats have a lot of electronics and features

Whether it's electronically adjustable seats or the massaging seats

The back seats cannot be folded.

When you're carrying big luggage you might want to do some planning.

The load lift is quite high,

You might have to put your muscles to work lifting heavier items out of the trunk.

The rear seats are extremely posh and comfortable.

The knee room and head room unquestionably is adequate

For reference I am 178 cm (5'11") tall.

and faces no problem at all.

The camera man, which is over 183 cm (6 feet) tall also have no problem with the rear seat spaces.

You can control the rear adjustable seats via these buttons here.

Also, if you think the

The front passenger is hogging too much space

You can move the front passenger seats away here also.

The middle rear passenger seat is

I think it's unpractical.

because BMW made a ridge between the seats for the electronic control arm rest.

Also the transmission tunnel is very big.

Let me move myself there.

It might be...

Yeah, it's uncomfortable.

Don't sit here. It's better just to seat two passengers in the back.

Let's take a look at the rear seat opposite of the driver's side.

In the Mercedes-Benz S Class,

There is an electronically adjustable thigh support

Also an electronically adjustable foot rest.

If you move the front passenger seat all the way.

Personally, I feel that the S Class is more first class than the 7 Series.

Also, all the functions of the rear seats are control via this 8 inches tablet.

It controls the ambient lighting, You can change the color and brightness.

Also the sun blinds,

You can open all or close all the sun blinds in this car.

Or choose to individually closes or open the sun blind.

But what I think is the killer feature is

Massage seats.

There are also a variety of massage settings.

But if you regular go to authentic Thai massage

These massage seats might not cut it for you.

It feels as if the seats are poking at you.

The rest of the functions are basic controls.

Air condition controls and musics.

There is a case.

The passenger used the tablet, but the user left it on his lap

He exited the vehicle with the tablet on his lap, which causes it to fell out of the car and broke the screen.

So always return it to the tablet holder here.

There are two engine choices.

There is the diesel and petrol plug-in hybrid engine.

I personally recommends the petrol plug-in hybrid engine.

Because it's more powerful and economical.

It also can do a pure electric mode (EV mode) up to 30-40 kilometers of range.

If you chose the petrol plug-in hybrid variant

you can upgrade it to the M Sport model.

The M Sports version contains all round exterior M Sports cosmetic enhancement.

The M Sports also gives you driving aids.

Such as the Head Ups Display.

Surround view camera and adaptive cruise control.

How does it drive?

I personally don't feel connect to the steering of this car.

Because it's very light

and it disconnects you from the road.

The suspension

is an air-suspension. Which is very comfortable,

but I must make my comparison to the S Class.

Because the S Class

is a lot more refined in the road bumps and uneven surfaces.

For this car, those uneven surfaces and bumps are still prevalent.

And you noticeably feel them.

But I think this is because

The rebound of the suspension is faster than the S Class.

But since it's like that additionally the numb steering

You don't really notice them.

However, I must applaud BMW for one thing.

The engine and the transmission.

Today we have the 6 cylinders turbo diesel engine 3.0 L

In real life driving condition it's extremely smooth.

If you don't tell me that this is a diesel engine I wouldn't know.

The red line of this engine is quite high.@5,500 RPM.

When you revs it up

It gives a very nice punch all over the rev range as any petrol engine would

The engine is paired to an 8 speed automatic transmission

The shifts very quickly,

I tried to overtake just now,

It pulls revs very well, and it shifts

it shifts as if I knows when I wanted it to shifts.

If I where to up shift or down shift myself, I would have do it on the same timing as the this automatic transmission.

This characteristic is very rare to find it a sedan or a limousine.

For driving features,

I think BMW is very thoughtful about this,

when I change the driving modes, from comforts to sports.

It also changes the instrument cluster design

Also the seats in comfort mode it's very wide and supportive.

But once you're in sports mode, it adjusts the side bolsters to give you more lateral support.

If you ask me

what do I think about this car

If you're looking for a car this size, that's fun to drive.

with a potent engine and suspension that was tuned for driving dynamics.

The BMW 7 Series is the car for you.

BMW 130i (E81-E87) buying advice - Duration: 12:21.

The BMW 130i may be... This is dangerous to say and there will be sharp comments.

It may be the ultimate hot hatch of its era.

Why do I say that? It has a 6-cylinder inline engine, because BMW.

Most hot hatchbacks don't have rear-wheel drive.

You could say a hot hatchback shouldn't have that.

A hot hatchback needs front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Most have that.

The concept is fun, though. You can drift a rear-wheel drive car.

It's a better driver's car because the front wheels only steer. They're not powered.

It handles nicely, clean, and pure.

The BMW 130i is the cheapest in its line.

There's also an M135i and an M140i, but those cars are more expensive.

You can buy an 130i if you have a smaller budget.

There are things to watch out for, but we'll get back to that later.

When it was introduced in 2005, it had 261 hp and 315 Nm (232 lb ft) torque.

It kept this for a while, but there was some ado with emissions in 2010.

The engine was updated, after which it had 254 hp and 310 Nm (229 lb ft) torque.

It was available with a manual or automatic transmission during its entire life cycle.

The automatic transmission wasn't faster. The manual transmission was a bit faster.

The BMW 130i does 0-100 kph (62 mph) in 6-6.3 seconds,

depending on model year and transmission.

ENGINES engine, performance

The 130i was initially introduced with 5 doors,

but starting with the Life Cycle Impuls (LCI) in 2007 there was also a 3-door version.

The 130i also got an e-diff.

All 130i have an open differential,

but an e-diff controls the brakes to return power to the slipping wheel.

This sort of works like a diff lock, but with less feel and differently than a mechanic locking differential.

The top speed of the 130i was limited to 250 kph (155 mph) in all generations.

If you want to shop for an 130i, about 6-7 are for sale on AutoTrack.nl.

Prices vary between 11,500 and 20,000 euros.

You can find a cheaper one, but they can be more expensive too.

Low-mileage cars go for high prices. That's something to keep in mind.

If you really want a low-mileage car with the popular M Sport package

and a High Executive with all of the gadgets...

If you can find a low-mileage version, the price can go up to 25,000 euros.

This takes you into M135i territory.

You should have your own opinion.

The 130i is a car that doesn't depreciate much if you keep it low-mileage,

but there may be a price bubble going on at the moment.

PRICES minimum, maximum

You buy a 130i because you love driving.

If you don't care about handling or speed, you can buy something like a 120i or a 118i.

There were a lot. You buy a 130i because you think it's cool.

You like speed and driving.

Other than that, these are reliable cars.

Of course there are things to watch out for. What second-hand car doesn't have those?

But it's not that bad. We'll talk about that in a moment.

Furthermore...

At the moment this is the cheapest way to drive a rear-wheel drive hot hatch.

Of course there are things to watch out for.

First, the early model years can have ticking hydraulic tappets.

This has to do with the hydraulics, oil, and the faulty circulation thereof.

BMW solved this. It's easy to check.

There was an engine update in 2007.

The engine got a black cover instead of a gray one.

When you lift the hood, you can see if it has the old engine or the new one.

Not all of the old engines have this problem.

It mainly happens with cars that are driven for short distances and don't warm up.

Anyway, if you see a gray engine cover, it may get this problem.

Of course, it may have been solved already. There are fixes.

Another engine issue may be the water pump.

It can die after 140,000 km (87,000 miles). Some die earlier.

It's not a huge problem. It doesn't destroy the engine.

The car has safety systems for that, but it's annoying if it happens.

It's not easy to check. You know you're fine if it has been replaced recently.

A final engine thing to pay attention to are the vanos solenoid contacts.

These get dirty, which causes sputtering and a loss of power.

This mainly happens at 1,500 rpm with a cold engine.

If the problem gets worse, the idle is irregular or the engine stalls.

This is annoying, but not expensive.

You can buy new contacts for a couple of 100 euros. That's it.

If you're clever you can do it with the help of a YouTube tutorial.

There are few unique things to watch out for in the interior.

With the Life Cycle Impuls (LCI) update it got a prettier interior.

The door panels have a different lining and the dashboard is more modern.

The dashboard was updated again later on. It got a fixed screen instead of a tilting one for the satnav.

It looks more modern too, but you won't see many of these.

Most of the cars for sale are early models, from 2005 to 2007 and the occasional 2008 version.

The younger cars are rare, even though it was officially on the market until 2012.

There are no specific things to watch out for with the exterior either.

Most important is to check for damage or past damage.

If there's past damage, has it been repaired well?

These cars are used by people who like to hoon.

This can mean they hit a tree or ended up in a ditch. You don't want that.

It doesn't have to be a problem if the damage has been repaired correctly.

There are no exciting things with the suspension either.

To come back to the 2007 update: the 130i got electric power steering from then onwards.

Some people say it doesn't handle as nicely.

I think most people won't feel the difference with the hydraulic version, unless you test it back-to-back.

It doesn't have bad handling after the update. It does handle differently, that's true.

It's a different system; not as nice as the hydraulic version.

The shock absorbers, mainly the rear ones, can leak or get stuck. You'll find out soon enough.

You can see leaks. You'll see traces of a liquid.

You'll feel it in the handling as well. The suspension feels weird or a wheel rattles when cornering hard.

You'll know that the shock absorbers need replacing.

Speaking of handling...

The pre-update cars were delivered with run-flat tires.

If the car still has its original tires, they'll need replacing.

Let's make that clear. It's a bad idea to drive on 13-year-old tires, even when they're not used much.

The first run-flat tires were very hard.

Many 130i owners chose to install normal tires instead of run-flats because that's more comfy.

A number of electronic things to keep an eye on.

First, the park distance control sensors can die.

Some people blame moist in the trunk, but it happens with dry trunks too.

Check if they work like they should.

Second, there's the DSC/DTC.

The Dynamic Stability Control makes things like ESP and ABS work together.

There may be an error. It's hard to miss, because you get all kinds of warnings when you start the car.

When there's an error, you know it's a broken module.

Replacing it costs a couple of 100 euros, but it'll work again.

Lastly, people who like sporty driving may want an oil temperature gauge.

That's possible. It's available. That's no problem.

You'll have to look for a post-LCI car, so after late 2007; model year 2008.

Those cars have an oil temperature gauge in the dashboard. Older cars don't have one.

We've been driving the 130i for a while now and I have to say I'm falling in love.

It's a good thing I have to hand it back in.

This saves me a lot of money.

We borrowed this car at Bergwerff in Gorinchem.

It's a pretty one. It's a 2006 model.

It has 89,000 km (55,000 miles) on the clock.

It has the nice hydraulic steering. This is a really nice and pretty car.

It's for sale at Bergwerff in Gorinchem for a little under 20,000 euros.
