Moose Test
This is the first attempt of the day, which was meant to be performed at an entrance speed of 76 km/h, though we finally entered at 77 km/h.
Anyway, we were far from completing it correctly, without moving cones. There are two main reasons that explain this result.
One is that the steering is very slow, so the driver needs to work extraordinarily fast over the steering wheel.
The other is that the grip provided by the tires is very low, so the Jimny has a clear tendency towards understeer.
68 km/h was the highest speed that we achieved with the Jimny on the Moose test, a very low figure.
In the second cone lane the body bounces laterally, but the driver does not have a big feeling of lack of control.
The action of the ESC is evident and, because of that, the speed at the exit is low.
As it can be seen on the footage, the tires deformed to a great extent when they suffered the greatest lateral stress.
This attempt was made at a slightly higher speed than the previous one. Because of that, the car understeered a bit more and hit one of the cones.
Slalom
On the slalom, the Jimny does not manage fast changes of direction because the body takes a while to lean over the exterior wheels on each of the turns.
The vehicle does not make abrupt movements at any time and the body roll is kept moderate.
