- Time for a quick survey.

Raise your hand if you've never dreamed

of flying like a bird or a superhero.

All right, I don't see any hands going up,

except for you, red shirt over there in Jersey,

and you're probably just scratching an itch.

All right, so while all of us have dreamed of flying,

only a relative handful of people, like the Wright brothers,

has actually done something about it.

Well, now we can add one more stand-up guy

to the list of innovators who didn't give up

on a quest to go up.

(upbeat music)

- For us humans to soar in the sky,

we've had to invent things like hot air balloons,

airplanes, wing suits; heck, there's even a guy

who strapped wings and jet engines to his back.

But to take off from the ground and fly intuitively

anywhere your mind and body desires is still a reach.

Luckily, one fearless Frenchman is obsessed

with making it happen.

And his first attempt in 2012 was this:

a recreational flyboard that launches you into

the air with powerful streams of water.

Today all he needs is a backpack filled with kerosene.

I flew, in a regular airplane, to Lake Las Vegas, Nevada,

to meet Franky Zapata, world champion jet skier

and self-taught engineer who zips through the air

like a superhero on his latest innovation

he calls Flyboard Air.

What exactly happens?

You strap yourself into those boots,

and are these jet engines?

- Yes, we have five engines and I have two boots.

Put my feet on it, I just strap the boots and that's it.

Just press the triggers and I fly.

- You realize you're making this sound very easy

and it's very complicated.

(laughing) - Yes, yes.

(upbeat music)

These five engines provide thrust.

It's proportional to this trigger.

So if I squeeze the trigger, that increases thrust.

So we use, also, stabilization,

an algorithm to stabilize the machine.

- So the machine also provides some equilibrium,

some balance, but you have to be able to kind of balance

your weight, as well?

- Exactly, to develop an algorithm like something help you,

but you're still in control, was the hardest part.

So it's your brain and the machine working in tandem?

- Yes, it's your brain and the machine working together

and flying the machine.

- And are these five jet engines,

are they similar to something we'd see

on an airplane but smaller?

- This one is a turbo jet, so it's smaller like they use

on the fighter, for the--

- Like a fighter pilot?

- The fighter pilot.

- So this is like five mini fighter pilot engines

strapped to your feet?

- Exactly (laughter).

- Franky wears safety gear,

which includes a flight suit, helmet and parachute

because he can reach speeds of up to a hundred miles per hour

and an altitude of 9,000 feet on the Flyboard Air.

He uses a launch platform for takeoff

to minimize debris blowback.

And it quickly gets really loud.

(jets whirring)

Oh, my gosh.

That was insane.

(upbeat music)

The Flyboard Air is being tested by both the French

and US militaries.

So this model won't be parked in your backyard

anytime soon.

But he is developing a consumer-friendly version.

- We imagine a future that humans can go to work

with our flying machine.

Not with this one, but something similar that we develop

by using this technology.

- So we'll see if it takes off.

- Yes. (laughter)

Ford Truck Month presents Thomas Rhett - Duration: 2:32.

It's human nature to focus on the destination.

To be driven towards some ultimate goal.

But all too often in life,

we forget to enjoy the journey.

I remind myself everyday

to slow down and enjoy every step.

I was so proud of that truck.

It was everything to me.

It represented so much more than just a vehicle.

I mean, it was the backdrop for so many memories.

So many firsts.

First dates,

first heartbreaks,

first time hearing songs

that would become a huge part of who I am.

Looking at the world from behind that wheel,

there were no boundaries.

just possibilities.

Whether it's my music or my F-150,

it was, and still is

all about connection.

Connecting my roots to what's inspiring me right in this moment

and taking me somewhere I'd never been before.

And I will always be humbled

that there is a community of people

who have found their own stories

in the songs I've written about mine.

I owe so much to the characters in those stories,

My family, who encouraged to chase this dream,

even though they knew how hard it was going to be.

The mentors who continue to inspire and guide me a long the way.

And my wife and my kids for taking this ride with me

every step of the way,

even when we're miles apart.

Every night, city after city,

I get to walk on stage and perform for people who have been part of my life's journey.

Some have been there since the very beginning,

and just for one evening,

we're all in it together.

Life is the ultimate ride for all of us,

but it's not just about where you're going,

it's about where you are right now,

and about where you've been.

And most of all,

it's about what got you here.

Rosenqvist, who has joined Ganassi's IndyCar team after a season competing in both Formula E and Japan's Super GT series, took part in a test in the Ford at Daytona in December

This appears to put the Swede in contention for a drive in either the FIA World Endurance Championship or IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, should any of the Blue Oval's regular pilots be unavailable

Ford has yet to finalise its line-ups for either the Sebring 1000 Miles WEC round, which shares the bill with the IMSA Sebring 12 Hours, or its two cars that featured on the Le Mans 24 Hours entry list on Monday

"I did a test in the Ford – I think it was more in case they have somebody injured so I could be there, so at least I've tried the car," Rosenqvist told Motorsport

com. He added that he will not be pursuing the same hectic continent-straddling race programmes that characterised his 2016-18 seasons, preferring to focus his energies on making a success of his IndyCar campaign

"To be completely honest with you, I've always been of the philosophy to drive everything and keep busy all the time," said Rosenqvist

"This year I've really changed my approach, I think mainly because I've become fed up with travelling – it's been a lot the last three years, and I feel like IndyCar is such a big commitment for me now I just try to keep focused on that

"If something comes up in the GT programme, I will definitely not turn it down, but it's not like I'm on the phone 24/7 to try to make something happen, because I feel like there's a lot to learn still in IndyCar

" Rosenqvist set the sixth-fastest time in Spring Training this week at the Circuit of the Americas, beating five-time champion teammate Scott Dixon by two places

Ford Warns Of Moving Production From The UK Over No-Deal Brexit - Duration: 2:34.

Following Nissan's move to cancel plans to build the next-generation X-Trail in the UK, Ford has issued a strong warning to the government that it is prepared to move production out of the country

According to The Times, Ford bosses told Prime Minister Theresa May on a private call with business leaders that the company was preparing alternative manufacturing sites abroad in case of a no-deal Brexit

During the call, the head of the government said the UK was preparing a package of financial support for businesses affected by a no-deal Brexit

However, she declined to elaborate.A participant to the conference call told the paper that other companies delivered the same warning as Ford

"The general message was that this isn't about contingencies any more — we are taking steps already because of the uncertainty

It's real," the unnamed business leader said.Ford moving its manufacturing operations out of the UK would be a devastating blow to the economy, as the US-based carmaker employs 13,000 people in the country, with countless others working for its suppliers

The company has three production facilities that build engines and transmissions, as well as an R&D center in the UK, which has traditionally been at the heart of Ford's European operations alongside Germany

Ford thinks a Brexit would be catastrophic for UK car makers While the Blue Oval declined to comment on the report, the company issued a pretty strong statement

"We have long urged the UK Government and Parliament to work together to avoid the country leaving the EU on a no-deal, hard Brexit basis on March 29

Such a situation would be catastrophic for the UK auto industry and Ford's manufacturing operations in the country

We will take whatever action is necessary to preserve the competitiveness of our European business

" Ford is currently undergoing a massive restructuring process both at home and in Europe, and recently announced it would cut approximately 400 jobs at its engine plant in Bridgend, Wales (pictured)

Is Mecum Selling John Cena's Ford GT After Telling Ford It Wouldn't? - Duration: 2:16.

As hard as it might be to believe, the story of John Cena's 2017 Ford GT continues almost 18 months after Ford sued the wrestler for flipping the car

In May, the car will cross the auction block courtesy of Mecum Auctions. Cena sold his GT shortly after taking delivery towards the end of 2017

Last year, it was revealed that Cena sold the supercar to a 78-year-old Californian farmer who was an avid Ford fan

The farmer is thought to have owned the GT for roughly eight months before he decided to part ways with it and sell it through a Russo and Steele auction in August 2018

Unsurprisingly, the car sold for $1.54 million, almost three times its base price but incredibly, the third owner parted ways with it just a month later

The fourth owner purchased it for $1.32 million at a Mecum sale in Dallas last October

This Ford has been handed around a lot… Fast forward to May 2019 and the car will be sold yet again and will soon find its fifth owner

Making the story all the more interesting is that it will be sold once again by Mecum Auctions

If you're a keen Carscoops reader, you may remember that Ford and Mecum reached a settlement in January that bars the auction company from selling any new Ford GTs within the first two years of their existence

This settlement reportedly also means Mecum can't sell any Ford GT, even if it's not owned by the original purchaser that's subject to the vehicle's controversial ownership agreement and must consult Ford for any "downstream purchaser" who acquires a GT from it

With this in mind, it's unclear how Mecum can sell Cena's former GT yet again without feeling the wrath of Ford
