those of you who have seen the previous vlog on Barcelona

probably already know what I'll talk about

Today I'm in Barcelona, or rather

right now I'm at the Castellolì Circuit

a track right outside Barcelona. Kia invited me

to try in advance

a car that's coming out in just a while, that is

the new Kia Proceed. Yesterday

and this morning, we tried this car

around the city, to fully try it

and test all its features.

while this afternoon we're gonna stay on the track 'cause we're gonna kill it

so in this video I'm gonna review in detail this car

and finally

although it's raining and it's wet, I'll hit the gas on the track!

But what car are we talking about exactly?

this is a category of cars that is still not very popular, especially in Italy:

a shooting-brake

it's basically a station wagon or sports wagon call it what you want,

with more sinuous and elegant lines

and the most special feature of this car is the rear axle

If we analyze it well, it tells us many things

first we notice how the upper line, as you go towards the rear axle

it drops down, and it curves

then we notice a very special design element that is the rear light

as you can see we don't have

two single lights

We have a single headlight that runs

the full width of the car

Going down we finally notice something that

makes the mouth water too all engine fans like me

something very interesting hides down there

The trunk as I expected from a sportwagon is really huge

I can't stay sitting like in a SUV

I think a Dani Pedrosa would also fit here

Looking at the aesthetics of this car we understand that it is a car with elegant lines

but

looking at those exhausts. Looking at those brakes. . Looking at that diffuser

and listening to the sound it makes when giving gas

we also understand that the designers wanted to give her a sporting soul,

but it is also a car designed for those who like me when they press

And when we get inside we understand that the design work we saw outside

The driver is very comfortable

The moment we start driving we immediately understand the sporting spirit of this car

so if if it detects that we are crashing into the car that precedes us

holy crap! the cool thing about this car is that

it has a double personality, because you can say

"I'm gonna go for a ride

like a quiet and elegant person, with the family

I can take Grandma out. Or you can say

"Now I go out and make some noise"

Something else really cool I found out earlier

Basically while I was fumbling here, I accidentally clicked this button

and I started to feeling steering wheel hot, is a beautiful thing

there's a button

to warm up the steering wheel

oh god

so when you exit your house on Jan 5th

with ice on the glass, and you can't hold on

to the steering wheel 'cause it's freezing, you just press

that button, and it's the best feeling in the world

Aside from that of course there are

warm up seating functions,

both driver and passenger can warm up

the seat, with 3 levels,

The road trip is over, I'm back at the circuit, where you can see all the GTs

with the automatic transmission

ready, waiting for us, 'cause now we hit the track and

we're gonna go so fast!

This track is awesome!

Oh my god! I've never driven here

At the Castellolì

I gotta come here once and drive for real

this is the first explorative lap, I don't know

the lap whatsoever, so

I'm following the car in front of me,

acting like a pace car

as you can see we're riding on the wet

because the curbs are --

look at this curve!

for real?

look at this banking!

it feels like being on the ring

Ok we're starting the lap, I'll put the 5th at the end of the straight

strong braking for the first curve

towards the right

the closing curve

we use the whole

curb when exiting

to try and exit as fast as possible

we brake just a little

for this right curve

which rises, goes uphill, it's on the left

as you can see the whole track goes up and down, it's crazy

you touch the brake pedal, then you let go

you go all the way,

you gotta be gentle

all down in mid-curve,

you go right,

braking, really hard this one

narrow curve towards the left,

so much banking it feels like being in one of those

curves like this, then look here

this curve is scary!

we touch the brake

we enter

you let it run, at mid-curve

you hit the gas

you wait, you wait, you wait, you keep turning and the hit it, and you exit

here in this long straight road

that was a great curve! 4th speed

we get to push

almost to 6th here

you downshift 3 speeds

my god what a track! Beautiful

Wow, the track test really surprised me both

because this track is awesome

and because I did not expect such a stable set-up

and such an enjoyable driving on the track

anyway, this car will be available from the beginning of February

I won't tell you the price

because the official price lists have not been released

I'm tempted to put fake glasses and moustache on and ask if they let me in again

국산차 최초의 프리미엄 브랜드 '제네시스'의 첫 번째 준중형 '스포츠 세단'이라는 타이틀을 등에 업고 탄생했던 G70은 국내에서 형제차인 기아 스팅어의 판매량을 압도하는 인기를 누렸으며,

해외에서는 '2019 북미 올해의 차'에 선정되는 등 각종 수상경력을 쌓아올렸다.

통상적으로 신차 출시 이후 1년 동안은 소비자들의 피드백을 수렴하고 소소한 문제점들을 보완하는 시기로,

이를 통해 상품성이 개선된 연식변경 모델을 선보이게 된다.

2019년형 G70을 시승하며 기존과 달라진 면모를 확인해봤다.

시승차는 G70 3.

3T 스포츠 모델로,

전체적인 외관 디자인은 기존과 동일하지만 휠 디자인을 변경해 스포츠 세단의 이미지를 한껏 부각시킨 모습이다.

실내의 가장 큰 변화는 세계 최초로 적용됐다는 3D 계기판이다.

전용 19인치 휠은 미쉐린 고성능 타이어와 짝을 이룬다.

새로운 발상으로 만들어낸 신선한 결과물이지만,

사용하다보면 시인성이 다소 떨어지고 복잡한 느낌을 지울 수 없다.

특히,

고속주행 시 가독성은 기존의 아날로그 계기판보다 나을 게 없기 때문에 3D 기능을 끄는 편이 더 낫다.

기능상의 변화라면 전동식 트렁크 적용을 빼놓을 수 없다.

G70 첫 출시 당시부터 소비자들의 대표적인 불만사항이었던 전동식 트렁크의 부재를 연식변경 모델을 통해 빠르게 대처한 점은 칭찬할만한 부분이다.

제네시스를 선택하는 국내 소비자들의 눈높이를 감안하면 이정도 옵션은 너무도 당연한 것이었다.

가격 대비 성능으로 좋은 평가를 받았던 3.

3T 스포츠 모델의 파워트레인은 기존과 동일한 3.

3리터 가솔린 터보 엔진과 8단 자동변속기의 조합으로 최고출력 370마력,

2019년형 모델에는 기계식 차동기어 제한장치(M-LSD)가 추가되어 주행감각이 보다 세심하게 다듬어진 것이 특징이다.

그러나 2019년형 G70은 새로운 LSD 시스템의 적용으로 조향감각이 기존보다 정밀해졌고,

전반적인 주행질감이 향상되어 운전의 즐거움을 한층 고조시킨다.

연식변경 모델이면서도 눈에 보이지 않는 부분까지 개선된 점은 후한 점수를 줘도 아깝지 않다.

아쉬운 점이 있다면 연료 효율이다.

다양한 구간을 테스트한 실제 연비는 6.

5km/L를 기록했고,

일상적인 주행에서는 그보다 나아지긴 하지만 연비주행을 감행해도 기대만큼의 효율을 이끌어내기는 어렵다.

결과적으로 제네시스 G70은 연식변경을 통해 기대 이상의 상품성을 선보였다.

개선된 품질을 바탕으로 월 평균 1천대 이상의 판매량을 꾸준히 유지하고 있으며,

이는 국내 소비자들의 취향을 만족시켰기에 가능한 성적이다.

다만 해외 시장에서는 아직까지 괄목할만한 성과를 이뤄내지 못하고 있기 때문에,

화려한 수상경력을 판매량으로 연결시킬 수 있을지가 관건이다.

동급의 절대강자 BMW 3시리즈가 7세대 신형으로 등장한 현 시점이야말로 제네시스 G70의 진정한 승부처라 할 수 있다.

마지막으로 2019년형 G70의 가장 높은 가격과 가장 낮은 가격을 비교해봤다.

G70 최상위 트림 '3.

3T 스포츠 프레스티지'에 모든 선택옵션을 더한 최고가는 5,

709만원이며,

최하위 트림 '2.

0T 어드밴스드'에 선택옵션을 더하지 않은 최저가는 3,

701만원이다.

이렇게 비교하면 무려 2,

008만원의 가격차가 발생하게 되는데,

최하위 트림에도 풀 LED 헤드램프와 스마트 트렁크 시스템 등의 어지간한 옵션들이 기본 적용되기 때문에 유지비까지 감안한 실제 구매에서는 현명한 선택이 필요해 보인다.
