Julie Bishop has finally confirmed she will run in the upcoming federal election and has thrown her support behind Prime Minister Scott Morrison

The former deputy prime minister and foreign minister was in New Zealand on Thursday ahead of her speech to the country's National Party, where she told reporters she has no plans to bail out of politics

'I am the pre-selected Liberal candidate for the seat of Curtin; it's my intention to run,' she said

When she was asked whether Mr Morrison was the right person to lead the party, she responded: 'yes'

Ms Bishop also said current polls putting the coalition behind Labor were too far out from the election to be conclusive and she didn't accept them

There has been mounting speculation over whether the former Liberal deputy leader would recontest her Perth seat

Ms Bishop has been on the backbench since the bitter leadership coup last year. She was one of three members who put their names forward to replace Malcolm Turnbull as Liberal Leader

However, she was knocked out in the first round, securing just 11 votes out of the 85

Mr Morrison said this week Ms Bishop had not updated him on her plans since she quit cabinet, at which time she planned to go to the polls again

'The driver's seat' book review by Victoria - Duration: 1:51.

hello my name is Victoria and the book I'm gonna talk about today is personal

favorite for many reasons but the main reason I want to talk about it is

because I read it about six months ago and I still think about it every day

because it's just that kind of book and that book is Muriel Spark's The Driver's

Seat. She's a genius Scottish author, if you haven't already read her you have to.

So, The Driver's Seat is about a very eccentric woman Claude Lise and and she

decides to just take off from her job one day she goes and buys the greatest

outfit she can find and and she just heads off to Italy on a holiday because

she wants to find her perfect man she wants to find her perfect boyfriend the

partner the weird thing about this book is that

but 89% of it you don't actually meet any man, any boyfriend, any husband,

any partner it's it's a little weird she's just this eccentric character

running around Italy making strange choices that you

have no idea why but it makes you want to read more. The reason that this book

hasn't left my mind for six months however, is the ending. If you know Muriel Spark

you'll know that she likes to shock and amaze and generally throw something

way of out left-field at you when you're least expecting it and that's

really what happens with this. You're having a nice time around Italy or and you're

wondering why on earth Lise's making all these strange choices, breaking down cars

going on dates with random old man, wearing clashing clothes and making

arguments and then you get to the last few pages and you go oh okay so this

book literally kicked me in the gut when I read it and it's for that that I

really really would recommend reading a Muriel Spark because she's got the

power to just stop you in your tracks.
