Auto news on Youtube Feb 4 2019

Hey welcome back to the channel today we're looking at a 2014 Mac Mini to see

if it's still usable today.

So here we go

Ok, so this time I'm not gonna tell you how much I got this for because people

get all bent out of shape but let's just say I got a really really smoking good

deal on this and I wanted to see what I could do with it if it's still a usable

computer today so I'm gonna break this up into a few different areas I'll put

an index down in the description and then at the very end I'll tell you some

things you can do with this and who I think this machine is good for if you

have any questions along the way leave comments down below I'll also have links

to anything I talked about any websites I talked about in the description as

well so first let's get into the specs of this machine so like I mentioned this

is the 2014 Mac Mini it's got an i5 4278 you dual-core processor 16 gigs of 1600

ddr3 RAM it's got the iris pro 5100 integrated graphics and a 256 SSD drive

now this is the version with the SSD drive soldered onto the board as far as

ports on this thing it's got a Gigabit Ethernet HDMI port two thunderbolt 2

ports three USB 3 ports SDXC card reader audio in port 3.5 millimeter headphone

jack and an IR receiver alright so I did some really basic benchmarking and the

only thing I'm going to talk about in this video is the GPU and the CPU

because benchmarking is really not that important unless you're comparing it

directly to a machine but for this benchmark let's talk about cinnamon and

Geekbench so in Geekbench we got a single core score of 35 60 but the

multi-core score is 69 49 which is pretty low and that's because of this

dual core processor on Cinebench we got a cpu score of 273 which that's pretty

low that's not a great score but again we're talking about basically a mobile

processor but the OpenGL score was a little bit better than I thought it was

gonna be that came in at 23 point 4 3 now again that's not a great score but

you got to remember we're talking about an integrated GPU not a dedicated one so

I was actually expecting that to be much worse so the data they use is where this

thing really excels it performs really great I mean even by today's standards

things open quickly you can have multiple tabs and virtual desktops open

with that 16 gigs of RAM the applications perform really well so

unless you're using some really processor intensive applications which

kind of goes beyond the basic usage category then you're not going to have a

problem with this machine it performs really well even with that dual-core

processor in there all right now gaming as you might have guessed is not great

on this machine because of that integrated GPU modern triple-a titles 3d

games are not going to run well some of them you can get to run by setting the

resolution really really low but then it's not an enjoyable experience so it's

not even really worth doing that things that do work well are things like

terraria or oxygen not included rimworld anything beyond that is not worth trying

now that being said there are some options that'll let you stream games

through this computer and still use it to play these games some of those

options are NVIDIA GeForce now that's currently in beta and I have the beta

for that it works really well lets you stream games to the machine over the

network that works fine steam in-home streaming works really well if you have

another machine on the network it's a dedicated gaming machine you can stream

games to the Mac Mini that works well I've tried that there's also options for

streaming games from Xbox one and PlayStation 4 the Xbox one application

is called one cast you can download a free trial of that I'll put a link down

in the description to that on the PlayStation 4 side the PlayStation

remote play they have an app for Mac OS so those are just some options for

playing games on this machine and I'm curious if you've had experience with

these or have any other recommendations if you do leave those down in the

comments section below now the video editing side is a little bit of a mixed

bag with this first of all Adobe Premiere and DaVinci resolve do not

run well on this, I did some testing on that I didn't even bother to video

because it was a really poor experience now the Final Cut Pro on the other hand

I took 4k video right off my Lumix g7 here loaded onto a timeline it plays

back really smooth it scrubbed really smooth I could do basic color correction

add transitions and things like that now if your timeline gets too long and too

complex like you're doing a lot of effects and layering in titles and

things like that that's when it really starts to bog down and it becomes a lot

more troublesome there's a way around that you can transcode the media first

and then you don't have to worry about it works just

fine if you're working in 1080p you can get away with a lot more on your

timeline with the 1080p because it's a lot less intensive to process if you're

going to get one of these machines for video editing either keep it at 1080p or

transcode everything to ProRes before you edit it and then you won't have a

problem with Pro res so let me talk a little bit about upgrade options and

there are some upgrades that you can do to this machine even as small as it is

now if you have the spinning drive you can actually open this up take out that

spinning drive and replace it with an SSD and you'll get much much faster read

and write speeds you can get either a Thunderbolt 2 enclosure or a USB 3 drive

enclosure and just attach that you can use that as your primary drive your boot

drive that works just fine that's a cheap and really easy way to get faster

read and write speeds on your machine faster boot times all that good stuff

the next upgrade you can do and really the only other available one as far as I

know is an external GPU now these Mac minis are not supported natively to use

an external GPU but there is a way to do that I'm going to be doing a video on

that later but I'll put a link down in the description on this video to the

utility that'll take you out there and if you want some instructions on how to

do that stay tuned for that video now if you know of any other upgrades that I'm

missing please leave those down in the comment section below I'd love to hear

about those I really want to know what you can do to kind of pimp this thing

out so who's this machine for well really I see it for anybody that wants a

kind of a lower end basic video editing machine you can get away with this

especially if you don't mind transcoding you can get these really cheaply use

Final Cut Pro and it's a really efficient editor if somebody that just

wants a secondary computer to do notes on and browse the web and just do basic

computing tasks even office and stuff like that that works fine for that

somebody that wants a box that they can stream games to and any place in their

house you can just set this up stream it over the Wi-Fi or wired network this

also makes a really good media center PC it's small and sleek and compact it'll

fit into most setups you can stream music to it movies games all kinds of

stuff it's got a port on the front at infrared port so you can use a remote

control that works really well as there are a lot of options for these

machines other than what they were just intended for so the question is this

usable today I would say yes depending on your use case now if you're looking

for a super powerful machine that you can upgrade the heck out of no it's not

gonna be the right for machine for you if you're looking at for an affordable

machine that you can get things done on that may not be the fastest but may be

fast enough for you it may be an option to look at you can do some of those

basic upgrades on it and get a little more life out of it and you can get them

super cheap now so it may be something to consider depending on what you're

using it for so hopefully you found this video useful and informative if you did

hit that thumbs up if you haven't subscribed yet please consider doing so

and come see me on Twitter Instagram and Facebook love meeting new people over

there and chatting with them and I'll see you in the next video

Dee-G Mini Bluetooth Speaker by Poweradd | Sound & Call Test | Unboxing & Review - Duration: 11:25.

Hello techies! This is Miguelina Betty aka Catwoman from Tech Valor. For this

video we will be reviewing the Dee-G Mini Bluetooth Speaker by Poweradd. For full

disclosure, Poweradd sent the Dee-G Mini to Tech Valor in exchange for my honest

opinion. Get detailed reviews and more by subscribing to Tech Valor.

Unboxing. The outside of the box gives you the skinny on what this mini

bluetooth speaker has to offer. When you open the box, the Dee-G mini bluetooth

speaker is front and center for you to pick it up. Once that's out the way, then

you need to dig out the black sponge protector and the small white box by

inserting your finger in the small hole and pulling out both pieces. Inside of

the smaller box, you will find a 3.5mm aux cable with poweradd

branding, micro USB cable, a velvet drawstring portable pouch and user

manual along with customer service card.

How It Works The Dee-G Mini Bluetooth Speaker is

designed with beauty in mind. The black fabric incases it's 5 watt speakers and

passive subwoofer. The rotating dial above is used to control the volume and

provides a black touch screen to play or pause audio file and indicate

connectivity. At the bottom you will find rubber feeties to keep the speaker in place

and prevents damage to your surface. Lastly, behind the device you will find a

3.5mm aux port, LED indicator, micro USB port and power button. It is

recommended to charge the Dee-G Mini Bluetooth Speaker before using it for

the first time. Plug the USB charging cable into the port and the other end to

a DC 5v adapter. a PC's USB port will do just fine.

The charging indicator will turn red while charging. Once it is fully charged,

the light will turn off. Recharging the 1200 mAh lithium polymer

battery can take up to 2-3 hours and play time is about 8 hours

when the volume is at 50%. Poweradd noted in the manual that the speaker is

not waterproof and to avoid any liquid or rain.

Aux Connection. The Dee-G Mini prioritizes the aux connection over the

Bluetooth connection. Even if you do not have the other end of the aux cable

connected to a device, the Dee-G Mini will not establish a wireless connection. When

connected via aux, the volume on your device is independent with the volume on

the Dee-G Mini so it is not enough to turn up the volume on the Dee-G Mini. Make

sure to turn up the volume on your device. Bluetooth Connection. The Dee-G

Mini Bluetooth Speaker uses Bluetooth 4.2 technology to connect wirelessly to

devices. The connection range is about 33 feet or 10 meters. To get started, press

the power button. Once it has indicated that it's ready to pair then go to your

device's Bluetooth panel. Choose Dee-G Mini and you will get a successful beep

sound. The Dee-G Mini Bluetooth Speaker can only connect to one device at a time.

In the future, when you turn on the Dee-G Mini, it will automatically try to

connect to the last device that was connected to. The speaker will enter

pairing mode if there is no device available. When connected via Bluetooth,

the volume on your device is in sync with the volume on the Dee-G Mini. Sound

Test. I was not expecting so much power to come out of this small package.

However I did notice that the volume is higher when connected via Bluetooth

versus AUX. Either way, there was no distortion with the audio and my table

was even rumbling. With how powerful this little guy is, I could only imagine the

powerhouse its older brother, the Dee-G, would be.

Call Test. Poweradd advertises that the Dee-G Mini Bluetooth speaker has a

built-in mic for hands-free calling. So I called myself and recorded how I would

sound on the other end with the Dee-G Mini.

Hello Tech Valor, this is Miguelina Betty. I'm just giving you a call and

hopefully it sounds clear and doesn't sound too far away or anything

like that. I'm about a foot away from the microphone and this little thing- just

wanted to test out how the outcome of the call would be.

Bye

I would not recommend using it for a conference call or even a one on one

call. Maybe if I needed to answer the phone to tell the other person that I'll

call them back later. Even then... I would just text them. My Conclusion. I am

pleasantly surprised by the Dee-G Mini. Though I wouldn't recommend it for calls,

is not a deal-breaker. The opportunity with the design of the Dee-G Mini is that

the black fabric can highlight lint that clings onto it. The innards of the dial

can be a crumb magnet so I would recommend keeping it in higher places

and away from youngins. The black touchscreen is a fingerprint magnet but

that's something that cannot be helped. I would suggest keeping a microfiber

cloth to wipe it periodically but I did notice that micro scratches started to

appear. I was taken aback because I take good care of my tech. Lastly, knowing

myself, I will most likely crank the volume at a 100% when using

the Dee-G Mini so I can engulf myself in the music. The fact that it takes 2-3hrs

to recharge in order to get about 4 hours of playtime for myself

can seem like an unfair payoff. My solution to this is to connect the Dee-G

Mini to a power bank when you suspect the battery will drain.

I found it cool that it can still work while charging.

I hope all this information helped you with your purchasing decision. Please

take a moment to like this video if you've come this far.

Share it with others who might find this useful and subscribe to Tech Valor for

more detailed reviews like this in the future. I'll see you all in the next

review. In the meantime... Catwoman out!

VW Up! GTI Vs Suzuki Swift Sport In Mini-Me Warm Hatch Race - Duration: 2:29.

Drag races are always interesting.Or are they? Surely no one is dying to see which of these two small hatches, whose combined output is less than 260 PS, is faster

But Top Gear decided to find out anyway. We'll move on to the video in a bit, but before that, let's see what the deal is with both

The Up! GTI is the smallest and less powerful of the two.It uses a 1.0-liter three-banger, rated at 115 PS (113 hp / 85 kW) and 200 Nm (148 lb-ft) of torque, and goes from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 8.8 seconds

It's hard to think of the Up! GTI as a hot hatch, as it's rather a less costly and smaller alternative to the Polo GTI

Then again, the Swift Sport isn't a hot hatch either, but a 'warm' one, with a 1.4-liter turbo-four, which provides 140 PS (138 hp / 103 kW) and 230 Nm (170 lb-ft) of torque

From rest to 100 km/h (0-62 mph), the Japanese supermini is 0.7seconds faster than its German rival

It also has a higher top speed – 209 km/h (130 mph) compared to 196 km/h (122 mph)

So, on paper, the Swift definitely has the upper hand.Don't jump into conclusions just yet, though; we also have to account for the fact that, at 997 kg (2,198 pounds,) the Up! is lighter than the Swift Sport, which tips the scales at 1,045 kg (2,303 pounds) – plus, driver skill on making a good start is part of the equation

Can VW's smallest GTI turn the tables on the more powerful Swift Sport? Only one way to find out

FOX TV - London Capital & Finance mini-bond promising 8% returns goes bust - Duration: 7:17.

A company that sold mini-bonds and Isas offering interest rates of eight per cent to 14,000 investors has collapsed into administration

London Capital & Finance had its accounts frozen by the Financial Conduct Authority on 13 December 2018 following an investigation by the watchdog

At the time, the company had raised up to £214million from investors, including pensioners

London Capital & Finance called in administrators after the FCA had previously investigated it and froze its accounts

Investors haven't received interest since the probe began last yearThree days before that, the watchdog ordered LCF to stop promoting its offers, claiming 'the way in which it was marketing it bonds was misleading, not fair and unclear

'Today, the company has entered administration.  According to the FCA, investments in the company's mini-bonds are unlikely to be covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, raising doubts as to whether investors will be able to get their money back

We warned LCF - and mini-bonds - in September 2017. The company lent money to small and medium-sized businesses, funding that lending through bonds paying between 3

9 per cent and 8 per cent a year.Smith & Williamson LLP was appointed joint administrators yesterday after being called in by the company directors

HOW DO MINI-BONDS AND RETAIL BONDS WORK? Companies issue bonds as a way of borrowing money to grow or fund their activities, or to reduce their reliance on bank borrowing

Minimum prices for savers and investors start at a low level - sometimes as little as £100 but more usually from £1,000

Investors earn interest on the bonds while they hold them. The bonds run out or 'mature' on a fixed date in the future when all being well you get your money back

A statement on the website of the FCA said that: 'The directors of the company received independent advice and determined that the company was insolvent

'A statement from the administrators said: 'Investors in LCF's mini-bonds were retail clients who were UK taxpayers and who fall into the category of either high net worth individuals, sophisticated individuals, self-certified sophisticated individuals or restricted investors, as noted on its website

'One administrator, Finbarr O'Connell, told the Evening Standard: 'It is early days, but our role will be to work with LCF's borrowers, staff, the security trustee for the bondholders, the FCA and other stakeholders to ascertain what needs to be done in order to maximise the returns to the bondholders

'We are especially focusing on the various loans made by the company to borrowers

'At this juncture, regrettably we are not in a position to return any monies to bondholders

co.uk What are the risks involved with mini-bonds?The main risk is that the company you loan money to fails and is unable to repay your loan, which has happened in a number of cases that This is Money has reported on in the last few years

In this instance it's important to note that this kind of investment is not covered by the FSCS

If you are tempted, it's important to read the literature produced to accompany the launch of the mini-bond and fully understand it, and the risks involved

You should have a good idea of how financially strong the company is before lending your money to them, because if they already have lots of debt and are not profitable there is more chance of them going bust and not being able to pay you back your money

You should also check on whether the interest payments are issued in cash or in kind, and make sure you are happy with the arrangement
