it's an STS lock

is a Spanish manufacturer, there you can see it

It's the six-pin, mini

It is a dimple lock

with a very small keyway, the key is very small too

in this case it is manufactured for BTV

I imagine it will be for some type of vending machine or something similar

but the manufacturer of the lock is STS

this is the key

it is a lock that is widely used

it did not open and close properly, the key did not enter

I had to file the tip that was rounded

and did not advance in the keyway, now it goes in and out easily

works, there you can see how it turns

but it does not turn clockwise

that is one of the most interesting things that I have seen in this lock

they usually carry this pin in the back

the tip of the pin enters in a groove in the plug

and that's the on e that limits the turn,

in this case, I have removed the pin, and yet

It has caught my attention that I could turn to the left,

but I could not turn to the right

when dismantling it I could see that there was a lentil wedged,

but the reason why it does not turn to the right is another,

and that makes this lock interesting and I want to open it

and take it apart to see it with you

they are locks that are often difficult to open

this one in particular has been manipulated by a locksmith

and it has springs of three different types, different types of pins,

I do not know what the originals are

but it has turned it into a real challenge lock

here you can see how the fifth and sixth chambers have some lateral milling,

and when we put the fifth and sixth keypins,

and we put the key,

we can see that the fifth

it is flush with the shear line, there is no problem,

but the sixth one is flush with the milling, it does not go up to the shear line,

this is why we can not turn to the right,

because by staying the sixth pin in that position,

the counterweight is locked here and prevents the rotation to this side and allows the turn towards this other.

I imagine that the goal of all this is control the turn,

I found it very interesting

here you have it, the plug with that milling,

and depending on which pin you put in the shear line, can turn to one side or the other

it's usually this slot here,

is 90º or 180º like in this case,

and this bolt is the one that limits the turn

but this one also has this milling in fifth and sixth

which I think has nothing to do with an anti-picking feature

and it simply limits the turn,

It's very interesting, I had not seen it inlockcylinder

the bolt that holds the plug is placed here

and we go with the key pins

that I believe that a locksmith has been

changing, among other things, the springs

the key pins are the originals,

they are serrated, with one serration, in this case they are very worn

and it's beveled at the end, let's zoom

to that fourth keypin that I have inclined, there you can see a slight beveling

It is very light, but it is very effective

here you can see the driver pins that also has a beveled

very similar to Tesa te5 and it is very very effective

it is also in the other drivers

It is very effective

these locks are not easy

all the pins are beveled, there is nothing that attracts attention,

but in the docks yes, the fourth, fifth and sixth have steel springs and lengths

first and second that have these shorter springs,

they are springs that do not look like steel

and the third one is a vessel pin,

with this very long spring that goes inside,

it's a totally different system

Is very striking,

I do not know if they come from the factory or if it has been a locksmith who has set,

for some reason,

the different types of pins and springs,

but in the end it has turned it into a challenge lock

It's very interesting, it has caught my attention
