Hello It is winter and SteelRider continue with the bike repair
It is time to take care about the stripped clutch lever
Instead of repainting I took new original Honda lever
I made very good deal It cost me same as repainting
Let's begin
Apart the lever change I have much more work
Master cylinder leaked few months ago
Look at this brake fluid everywhere
It dirtied my jacket I hardly manage to clean it
I should dissemble it
I have repair kit to fix it
I hope to repair it fast lets do some work
First step: remove the mirror not do damage it
Remove this dust cover
Now I will make some mess
No other way
Wipe with rag avoid brake fluid on the bike paint
Hexagram wrench to remove the clutch assy
ready
It is time for disassembly in this nice home environment
Removing the lever
And unscrew the cap
The screwdriver should fit tightly in order not to damage the bolt
I do not like the color of the fluid
Dumping it in this bottle
Wipe with rag as much as possible
The container is made deeper on purpose
You can see the dirt laying on the bottom
I should clean it
Despite the dirt on the bottom the container is in very good condition no corrosion
It was opened an year ago when maser cylinder was revised
We should find out why it leaked so fast
Removing the dist cover
In order to remove the retaining ring I bought this pliers
Lets see how they work
It is not very convenient with the left hand
hop - hop
Here it is
Super
Align everything in the order they went out
This is the piston
I do not see the rubber seal Not good
Lets remove the other pieces
Here it is the sealing
On this model it is attached on the spring
I already said that everything should be put in order
I want to clean the inside walls of the cylinder
With clean rag I will put all of it in
With circle moves around the walls
I should be careful not to scratch it
WOW
I do not know if you can see The walls are cleaned and polished
I am happy
Everything is clean You can see the good condition of the container
It is very good for 33 years old motorcycle
Now open the repair kit
and see what's in
It looks so much better
Arrange everything
here and there
The big challenge will be how to put this seal
New retaining ring and new washer
And new filter of course
This here
It should be in this direction
To create the pressure
It expands and seals
This should be in the same direction
Now the most difficult part putting this rubber seal on its place
I am using the braking fluid
and wet the rubber seal
I will use this thin screwdriver
I hope not to damage the rubber seal
I waited a month for delivering this repair kit and it wasn't cheap
Now you can see why I need this screwdriver It helps me to guide the seal
It is very slippery
Almost done
almost
It is in
Click
This is what is suppose to be
Look at the trapezoid shape of the new rubber
The old one doesn't have this shape This is the reason for the leakage
To facilitate the assembly I need to wet this seal with brake fluid
Assemble everything
Pressing the rubber carefully
It is in
Now the piston
Wonderful
The bolt washer
Preparing to place the retaining ring
Pressing the piston and putting the retaining ring
Release
I am not sure it is in
common
I will press carefully to verify if it is in
Now the ring is in
Last thing before I go mounting it
I want to make sure it is working
There is way to verify
Dumping brake fluid
Initially there is no fluid on the exit
If I press the piston
Bubbles appears
It will leak on the exit in a moment
Already creates pressure
We are good to mount it on the bike
The battery died and you did now saw the final
The exit is blocked with finger You should feel the pressure while pumping
If you relief the finger brake fluid should soot out
This was the test
As you notice I am in the garage the assy is mounted
Lets put the new lever
This pod should go in the dust cover
Rounded side in
Lets see the new lever It is so clean
This gun metal bush should go in
Ready
Screw the bolt and the locking nut bellow
Ready
I should do one more thing before I put new break fluid
Look the cracks on the hydraulic line
It is just one year old
In order to preserve it I will put it in heat shrinking tube
I mad an order and look what came
Blue! Is that a joke? No way on this bike
I will order from another place
Until I am waiting the delivery of the black heat shrinking tube
I took care of the ragged saddlebags which I showed you in the provisos episode
They are fixed and cleaned and can be attached to the bike
I painted the horns
I was shamed from the footages in the USB mounting video
The paint was scratched and peeled
It is in
And they didn't fit to the upgraded shiny bike
Horn number 2
And the chromed plate with Honda label
Fantastic
The heat shrinking tube is here
Cut the proper size of it
And put the brake line in it
The text should be position down in order not to be seen
Now I should only heat it
See how it shrinks
Now on the other side
Ready It looks good
The brake line is already mounted some clean rags (just in case)
Level the container and dump fresh brake liquid
I have silicone tube from the bleeder to a bottle with brake fluid
Now the procedure
Open - Press / Close - Release
There are a lot of air bubbles
The level of the brake fluid in the container should be monitored carefully
Fluid should be added regularly in order not to suck air
When will I be am ready?
I monitor for the color change and clean stream with no bubbles
That's enough
Top up for the last time
Put the rubber seal
The plastic and the metal cap
I should do the same for the braking system The lines are cracked
The good news is there is no fluid leakage
It will appear because it was revisited from the same mechanic on the same time
I am waiting repair kit it is order already
And I have the original lever
Look the yellow plastic It stayed 30+ years before coming to me
After so much rearing work it is time for ride
The circle in Sofia will be in the next episode
