This the Volvo V60.
It is the wagon of the middle series by Volvo.
It's a T6 AWD version, which means
it's 2.0 just like the others, but
it has a Roots supercharger as well as a turbo.
The result is 310 HP, and it comes with all wheel drive as standard.
Luckily, we got some snow, a chance to see what's what.
But let's talk about something else.
This press fleet car...
...is more than €66,000
on the showroom floor.
Now, if you spend that much, you might think about getting a bigger wagon.
Like the Volvo V90,
which happens to look roughly the same.
Especially from the side.
So I went and looked up what's the difference between the two.
They both come as T6 AWD
with the same level of equipment.
However, the V90 T6 AWD is almost
€15,000 more expensive.
For that, we get 130 liters more
trunk volume
because this is only
430 liters
As well as the bigger volume, it can tow more too
2200kg versus 1800 with the V60.
400kg is quite the difference when we talk yachts
or caravans.
What's more, the V90
can also be had with family-friendly rear bench.
This includes sunshades
for the side windows
and integrated booster seats.
You can't have any of that in the V60.
But in every other way the two cars
can be specified to be identical.
So if you're not towing,
and don't have children,
there is no good reason to spend €15k more for the bigger Volvo.
So this particular car is pricey.
But it does have things to show for it,
like this.
Even tough it might have a purpose, I don't remember seeing
windscreen washer piping routed
and wraped like this.
Also the piping goes to the blades
and not nozzles,
so there's little fluid wasted,
all of it gets used.
This is the kind of OTT stuff you get when
paying more for the premium badges.
Someone taller than me opened this
HELP!
Basically all human beings know how to use an Android phone
They are easy to learn.
You just slide it there, back
There are apps one can use for the different functions.
There are Widgets that control a particular app
without opening it - like a music player.
And if there's a deeper setting I need to change,
I get to that deeper level with a few clicks.
The funny thing is,
Volvo engineers decided not to be fussy,
but basically copied this.
Here's the main menu with a home button.
It even helps where to start.
I can go here, and open up apps
that show up on the main screen
So these are parts of the main menu, and I get to choose
which one to look at.
Or I can go here, and find widgets
For example switching the HUD on or off,
and setting it up starts here.
The steering wheel buttons help with the latter.
What's more, also phone-like
is the home button, to get me on the main menu,
as well as the move to get me to settings.
This is also the place
where I can read messages from the car.
Like low fluid levels.
On first glance it might seem illogical,
making most functions touch-screen only
But the system is so easy to learn,
because it's familiar from our phone,
that it isn't a problem.
What's more.
as this is a Swedish car they designed the screen
to work with leather gloves.
My phone does not!
In all, the V60 T6 AWD is an expensive car,
for people affluent enough to pay
the higher-than-average
monthly lease.
This is definitely not me.
However, I still liked it very much.
because it does not spend the money to shock and awe the neighbours.
It does not want to 'look expensive'.
It is a clean, simple design.
Not cheap, but not flashy either.
Volvo spent the money and effort on the driver
and the passengers.
And you feel right at home here
This could very much be
a matter of taste, but I love it.
Now, I can't buy one of these new,
not right now anyway.
But if I could, I would seriously consider it.
