is the manufacturer, Nissan Motor Acceptance,
has taken off the gloves, and they said Steve,
give us contracts.
Right now, with their support,
there's not much that we can't do.
If you're looking for a new car,
if you're looking for a used car,
why settle for the used car if I can get you
into a brand new Nissan?

We're right around the corner.
Another three, four weeks is gonna be,
we're gonna be full-blown spring.
Warm weather's gonna be back, we'll be out of
this chilly frigid stuff, alright?

you need a little bit more money
than you're really offering us.
It might've cost somebody another five, 800 dollars
to get the car they wanted.
But nobody's gonna let five to 800 dollars
stand in the way of getting them
the car that they're looking for.
And that's what we found.
But these banks are gonna be, I'm telling you folks,
you're looking for a deal, you're looking for a bank,
you're looking for somebody to finance a new car for you?
You come down here, I'm gonna tell you,
for the next 10 days as this sale's on
'til the end of February, short month,
we're gonna take the gloves off.
Alex and I are gonna start this spring market off
with a bang, I'm gonna tell you.
Now Steve, I've gotta ask you a question.
One of the things that I heard you talking about
to a customer is, and this was very shocking to me
because you're not used to hearing this in the car business.
I forget the customer's name, but he was the guy over there
just a little while ago, and I'm sure
you recall talking to him.
Yes, yes.
I heard you say, "Sir, I want you to be able
"to keep your tax check.
"I don't want your tax check, I want ..."
Now Steve, who says that in the car business?
Who says that in the car business?
Who in the car business ever refuses money?
(Greg laughs)
I don't know anybody.
Hey, but listen.
The gentleman was telling me,
you didn't hear the first part of the story.
He's saying listen, I got this tax check,
okay, just came in.
I've got money if I have to, Steve, to put it down.
Here's what I said to him.
Do me a favor, let me do my job first.
Let me talk to the bank and see if I can get
this deal done with no money out of pocket.
People love no money.
People love to get a vehicle with little or no money down.
The difference between putting $3,000 down and zero down
is just a few bucks a month in a payment.
A lot of people like the $3,000.
I'll pay an extra 20 or 30 dollars a month,
40 dollars a month, and not have to put the money down.
And they're usually all right with that.
So I told the gentleman, keep the money
in your pocket right now, keep it between you and I.
Hey, if I absolutely need it and it makes the difference
between you getting a car and not getting one,
okay, we can talk about it then.
But keep that in your pocket.
Let me go to work.
I'm gonna tell you, Matt, which is another one
of our partners in the deal, team members,
ended up calling the bank and said
this gentleman's got no money.
They said, they bounced this back and said
can you put down $500?
I went over to the gentleman, I said
that three or 4,000 that you got in your pocket right now,
give me 500 of it, done deal.
Hey.
That's what you--
He didn't complain too much about that, did he?
Alright, alright, you see him over there giving me a hug?
The reason why is he didn't have to put down
them three to $4,000.
That's why the high fives were out.
That's when the high fives were out, okay?
And I love doing things like that for people.
I'm telling you, we try to get the deal done
with as least as possible, okay?
I mean hey, we'll certainly, if we have to,
we need a couple thousand dollars in some cases.
But we try to do it with little
or no money down whatsoever, okay?
And besides all that, we're gonna pay off
your trade no matter what you owe.
And in some cases, Steve, that is a miracle in itself.
You guys are absolutely known for trade amnesty.
I mean, it is a common occurrence that people are coming
through the doors that are upside down in their trade
and all kinds of crazy numbers.
I mean it's unbelievable, the things you get done.
Two weeks a go I was sitting at a dealer meeting
and we were talking about going into the new year
and the 2019 spring market, blah blah blah.
I had a couple dealers turn around and ask me,
Steve, how do you do, how does this trade amnesty work?
Well of course, the secretive guy I am,
keep everything to myself, I said--
Proprietary info.
Yeah, exactly, I said listen gentlemen,
you gotta be willing to do a couple things.
You gotta be willing to put a little more
on their trade than you want to.
They cringed.
You gotta be able to take a little bit of a shorter profit.
If, some cases, none, okay?
And you gotta be willing to give up
some of your dealer cash.
That dealer cash that comes in that a lot of people
don't show, you've gotta be able to put that in the deal
so the bank sees there's money in the deal,
or we're paying off the trade.
You know, if we've got four or five, $6,000 dollars
in the back, back end of this deal,
and you owe eight to 10,000 more on your trade
than it's worth, I've got $6,000 down on that deal
if I give you my money.
Wow.
And that's how it works.
And if you're willing to do that,
and I tell the desk, here's what I got back on every car.
This is dealer cash.
Use whatever portions of this dealer cash you want to
and get the deal done, 'cause that's where it all started.
Just do the deal.
And we still say it today, we love to say it.

is when you walk in, we're not gonna let

Sales person came back, pay off he told us was 12,600.

I had to eat $6,000 because we work the deal
with the customer.
I'm not going back to the customer
to say I can't make the deal because my sales person
made a mistake on $6,000.
I made the $18,000, I shook their hand
and said the only thing I'm asking for
is a good review, good CSI surveys,
and I hope you're happy and send me some customers.

With these banks that you have coming to the party,
coming to this table, they're hungry.

and how great is it to get those same customers
that maybe owe 10, 15, 20,000, they're upside down
on their trade, get them approved

It's huge, it's awesome.
I love helping people get out their situations.
It's just great, I love working here.

of working with the banks, speaking their language.
I mean it's amazing.
I know there's stories where a finance manager
may have talked to the bank and they said
eh, we're gonna pass on this.
You get on the phone and they say
Steve, we're gonna send you that paperwork.
What's the secret?
Well the secret is, first of all
they know I believe in the deal
if I get on the phone, okay?
