This Putco 40-inch Luminix High Power Straight LED Light Bar is for those of you who that

have a 1987 and up Wrangler and are looking to add a light bar onto your Jeep but want

something that you can custom mount and get a little bit creative with.

Of course the traditional 50-inch light bars are designed to go over top of your windshield

and there are a lot of different bolt-on brackets that you can get to mount that light bar in

that location.

This being a 40-inch light bar, you're not going to be able to put this light bar in

that location with those brackets, however you could get a little bit creative, build

your own brackets, do some drilling, if you did wanna put this light bar above the windshield.

But this is really, again, for getting a little bit more creative than that.

This is going to be for fabbing [SP] up some hood mounts, putting this across the front

of your front bumper, maybe your rear bumper as a reverse light, putting it up on a roof

rack, getting really creative with where you wanna mount this light.

Now, overall that means that you are gonna get some more flexibility with where you put

the light, but mounting is gonna be a little bit more challenging, so there's definitely

a trade-off there.

Now if we step away from the mounting aspect for a minute and just talk about the light,

Putco does make a pretty high quality light.

This is a light that's gonna be a little bit more expensive than some of the other ones

on the market, it's gonna put out a lot of light, it's gonna be really well built and

last a really long time, so you are going to get a high quality product, but you're

also gonna have to pay a higher price for it.

So if you're looking for something that's easy to mount, a little less expensive, there

are a ton of less expensive 50-inch LED light bars on the market.

If you want something that you can customize and that's a very high quality light bar,

then I think you're looking in the right place with this Luminix 40-inch from Putco.

As you can see, this is a single row LED light bar which is something that I personally really

like, they're not as big and bulky as a lot of the double row LED light bars out there,

and this thing is still going to put out a ton of light.

The housing itself is black anodized 60-61 aluminum.

This has individual 3 watt LEDs that are built right into it, and the beam pattern of these

lights is right around a 15 degree beam pattern, so this is going to be a fairly focused light.

It's a fairly spot-oriented light, it's not going to be overly diffused, certainly not

a flood light, definitely going to be a spot pattern with this light.

As with most lights, this does come with a pair of feet, so if you do just decide to

drill a couple holes to mount this, you can certainly do that, or like I said before,

fab up or purchase a aftermarket bolt-on mount for a 40-inch bar.

This light bar also comes with a wiring harness, which is a really nice feature, a lot of the

LED light bars on the market do not come with a wiring harness, but a lot of companies offer

the ability to purchase one that you can use with their light bar.

This is going to come with the wiring harness and it's also going to come with weatherproof

connectors on both the wiring harness and on the light itself.

So the only place you have to make a connection with this light bar and wiring harness to

get everything working is actually at the battery at the positive and negative, and

that's gonna make installing this very, very simple.

So I am gonna stick with a one outta three wrenches for this installation because the

wiring is very, very simple, but as I said before, you may have to get a little bit creative,

you possibly may have to drill some holes to get this mounted up because there aren't

a lot of bolt-on brackets available for a 40-inch light bar for a Wrangler.

So that being said, the first step in the install is going to be figuring out where

you wanna put the light bar and getting it mounted up, whether that means fabbing brackets

or drilling holes.

Once the light bar itself is installed, you'll go ahead and stretch your wiring harness out,

you'll have the one end that plugs into the light, the other end that connects to the

battery, and one leg that goes through the firewall into the dash where you'll have your

switch to turn the light on and off.

Once you have everything pulled into place, you have the switch installed where you want

it, make the connection to the battery, plug the light into the wiring harness, and you're

finished.

As far as tools, you're probably gonna wanna have a socket set handy.

If you are gonna be drilling holes or doing some fabricating for your bracket, of course

you'll need those tools.

And as far as wiring goes, you're really only going to need that same socket set, maybe

some zip ties to clean up the wiring.

This is an $850 40-inch single row LED light bar, so it is going to be one of the more

expensive 40-inch light bars that is a single row.

In fact, you can get some 50-inch light bars that are double row for less expensive than

this one.

And then of course there are the ones that are more expensive than this one as well.

But if I had to pinpoint where this falls in the price range, it is going to be toward

the higher end.

As I said before, you are getting a high quality light bar here, billet aluminum, you're getting

something that has an IP67 waterproof rating, it's gonna last a long time, you're not gonna

get condensation behind the lenses, you're not gonna get burnt out lights, but you are

gonna pay premium for that quality.

So if that's what you're looking for, this is gonna be a really nice option.

However if you are on a bit more of a budget, there are some other light bars out there

that will save you some money.

So if you're looking for a single row 40-inch light bar, I definitely recommend looking

at this one from Putco, that you can find right here at extremeterrain.com.

Jeep Wrangler Rugged Ridge 3.5" Round LED Lights (2007-2017 JK) Review & Install - Duration: 6:09.

These Rugged Ridge three and a half inch dual beam round LED lights with mounting brackets

are for those of you that have a 2007 and up JK and are looking to change out your factory

fog lights.

Just something that's a little bit different.

Now, the nice thing about your factory fog lights is that they are a factory fog beam,

so they're designed to be a very low and wide light that hits below your headlights on the

highway.

These lights are not going to be a fog beam, so you're not going to be able to use the

forward-facing light in the same way that you would use that factory fog light.

However, because this is a dual beam, it's going to also have an amber marker light,

and that is going to be a light that you can use all the time.

So, if that's what you're after, if you're after something that's gonna give you a different

look, that's gonna give you that amber marker light and instead of a fog beam, which is

useful as a fog beam, you're going to have something that while you can't use it with

oncoming traffic, is going to be a lot brighter and a much broader beam than that fog beam

would be.

Now, if you are looking for something like that, this here is going to be a really nice

one-stop shop.

It's going to be a package that's going to include the lights and the brackets.

You know everything's gonna work together, and they're going to bolt right into your

factory bumper.

Now they're gonna bolt right into your factory plastic bumper.

If you had a 10th anniversary, one of the special edition Jeeps that comes from the

factory with a steel bumper, you're not going to be able to use these as a bolt-in application.

The only additional thing that you're going to do if you have one of those plastic bumpers,

again, these will bolt right in there, is you're going to have to do the wiring.

And because this is a three-wire light you're going to have a power wire for your marker

light, a power wire for the forward-facing light, and a ground wire, you're gonna have

to get a specialty wiring harness or of course, if you are comfortable with automotive wiring,

you can go ahead and build yourself a wiring harness for these lights.

So in this kit, you are going to get two three and a half inch round LED lights from Rugged

Ridge.

These are the newer style lights from Rugged Ridge which have a plastic housing instead

of aluminum housing.

Now, it's not necessarily a bad thing.

It's going to be a little bit less expensive to produce, a little bit less expensive to

purchase.

It's gonna hold up a little better.

If you were to scratch the powder coat off the aluminum, you could get some oxidation.

With this, of course, you're not going to have any of those issues.

The inside of this light is going to be different as well.

This is actually going to be a five LED light.

The four around the outside are going to be your forward-facing lights, and they produce

a fairly broad spot beam, is how I would describe it.

It's not specifically a pencil spot beam that's gonna throw like really far down the road

in a very small pattern, but it's not an extremely diffused flood light either, so it's somewhere

in the middle there.

And that's what those four LEDs do.

Then you have the center LEDs.

That's going to be your amber LED.

That's going to produce your marker light, and you do have a divider between the other

four lights that works almost like a fiber optic to give you a little bit of a crosshair

look which is actually a really nice look, in my opinion.

So that's about the lights.

The brackets themselves, they are going to allow you to bolt those lights directly in

place of those factory fog lights.

Again, if you have one of those factory plastic bumpers.

And these lights do come with the connectors which will make it very easy to unplug the

lights and replug them in if you need to.

However, that connector only carries the two wires that run the forward-facing light.

You also have this third wire here for that marker light.

They're gonna have to figure out how to wire in as well, and if you wanna make that a quick

disconnect, get a spade connector so that you can disconnect your lights, disconnect

your bumper if you need to remove it for service at any point.

So for install, I'm gonna go with a two out of three wrenches for these lights.

That is because of the wiring that's involved.

As I said before, if you have a plastic factory front JK bumper, these are gonna bolt directly

in place, and getting the lights actually installed is a very very simple process.

However, the wiring is going to be where things get a little bit more complicated.

Like I said, you can buy some three-wire wiring harnesses that will run a light like this.

Some of those are going to come with a three-position switch so that you can have the marker light

on, the forward-facing lights on, or, of course, an off position.

If you are somebody who's comfortable with automotive wiring you can make your own wiring

harness.

You can power the marker light off of your parking lights, and the forward-facing lights

off of your high beams or a switch.

You have a lot of flexibility if you are building your own wiring harness.

So whether you're building one or you're buying one it is going to require some splicing,

possibly some soldering, of course, running the wires, getting the switch in place.

If you're not comfortable with all of that, of course, it's okay to take your Jeep to

a shop and have them wire these lights up as well.

As far as the installation itself goes, the easiest way to do this is going to be removing

that factory front bumper.

So you're going to remove the fog light socket from the fog light housing.

You're gonna unbolt the four bolts that are holding your factory bumper in place on either

side.

Remove that bumper, of course, you have to get this splash guard out of the way also.

That will make it really really easy to unbolt the four screws that are holding that factory

fog light housing in place and get rid of it.

And then go ahead and bolt these brackets in place as well as your new lights.

Once all of that is done, you can reinstall the bumper on the Jeep, and then you get to

wiring.

These lights and brackets come in at right around $175, and I do think that's gonna be

a pretty good price.

I think that the lights you're getting are a high-quality multi-purpose light.

Especially the fact that they're a dual-beam light makes them multipurpose, and you know

that you're gonna get a bracket that's going to not only work with your factory bumper

but also with the lights you're buying, so you're not trying to piece together a kit

that may or may not work together.

So if you're somebody who either doesn't use your fog lights a lot, doesn't like the beam

pattern that you get from them, is looking to upgrade your lighting but keep everything

looking factory, I think this is going to be a really nice option.

I really like the fact that this has a marker light and also a forward-facing light.

So if you're looking for a light end bracket kit to swap out those factory fog lights,

I definitely recommend taking a look at this kit from Rugged Ridge.

And you can find it right here at extremeterrain.com.

Jeep Wrangler K&N 57 Series FIPK Performance Cold Air Intake (1997-2006 4.0L TJ) Review & Install - Duration: 5:46.

The K&N 57 Series FIPK Performance Cold Air Intake is for those of you who that have a

four-liter, 1997 to 2006 TJ, and are looking to add a cold air intake for a little bit

more power, a little bit more fuel efficiency, and a little bit more sound from underneath

the hood, especially when you jump on the throttle.

Now, in theory, any time you help an engine breathe in or out a little bit more freely,

you are gonna get some more power.

And that is going to be true with this cold air intake.

You are gonna pick up a couple of horsepower.

Now in general, a cold air intake is going to give you horsepower at the very top of

the RPM range, which isn't an area that you see all that often in your TJ.

So I don't think you're going to feel huge gains from this cold air intake in the seat-of-the-pants

dyno.

However, you are going to get some additional noise from under the hood and you are going

to get a little bit of mile per gallon gains from this because you are gonna to get a little

bit more air into the engine.

Now the reason you're not going to see huge horsepower or torque gains all the way through

the RPM range is because that I6 has been around for a very long time and it is very

much optimized right out of the factory.

So you are going to see some gains, but they're not going to be massive.

The other thing to note with any kind of cold air intake, this one included, is that if

you take your Jeep off-road a lot in an area where there's a lot of water, you run a lotta

mud, do a lotta water crossings, this is going to eliminate that factory aquabox [SP] out

of your air intake system so you're going to eliminate one level of protection against

sucking air into the engine and potentially causing damage via hydrolock.

So keep that in mind as well.

If you are somebody who's just running a lot of drier trails, you can certainly get away

with something like this, although some people will say that the more open element K&N filter

will let a little bit more dust and particulate into the engine.

So that's something to consider as well.

In general, a cold air intake is designed to pull colder air, but no matter what, unless

you're installing a snorkel, you're still pulling air from underneath the hood of your

Jeep from within that engine bay.

TJs are known for a lot of heat soak, so it's very hot under there, but this is going to

help get a little bit more air into the engine and it should be a little bit cooler partially

thanks to this piece of the cold air intake here that is designed to allow it to pull

the coldest air from that front corner of the fender as possible instead of from the

center of the engine bay which, of course, is going to be a little bit warmer.

This is going to be a setup from K&N, so you're getting, of course, a K&N air filter which

is going to be washable and re-oilable.

This is, or should be, at least, the last filter that you'll ever have to buy for your

cold air intake because you can just clean it out and reuse it over and over and over

again.

Now as far as cold air intakes goes, this one is going to be around the middle to the

lower end of the price range.

There are some intakes that have a fully enclosed air box, and those ones are going to be more

because they're gonna have more material.

There are also some that have a metal intake tube instead of the plastic one that's included

with this cold air intake.

Those are also going to be more expensive.

But if you're looking for something a little bit more basic, not quite as many features,

and save a little bit of money, this is gonna be a good way to go.

So I touched on a little bit of the construction of this cold air intake already, it has this

plastic intake tube, it's also going to come with all of the couplers, the hardware, and

the clamps that you're going to need to get it attached to your Jeep.

So you have the intake tube here, you also have a nipple built right into it for your

vent, and you also are going to have a spot where you can install your ambient air temp

sensor if you have one of the later model TJs that is equipped with one.

Of course, here you have a bit of an air box.

It is really only going to be three-sided and that is designed to draw the coldest possible

air into the engine, and this does also come with some weather stripping that you can put

around the outside of it, it's gonna finish off the look of that box a little bit further.

Of course, as we said, this does come with one of K&N's conical air filters that is going

to be washable and rechargable, re-oilable, so you can use it over and over again.

As far as the install goes, I am gonna give this a one out of three wrenches.

This is probably going to take you less than an hour to get installed on your TJ, and anyone

can do this in their driveway with just some traditional hand tools and a socket set.

The first step is, of course, going to be removing that factory air intake that you

have on your Jeep.

So you'll remove the clamp and the intake tube from your throttle body, you're also

going to unbolt the rest of the intake box that comes on your Jeep from the factory in

order to make room for your new system.

Now in order to install this system, you are going to have to take your ambient air temp

sensor out of your factory tube.

If you have one, be careful, don't break it.

Go ahead and insert it into your new tube as you're installing it onto the throttle

body.

You'll wanna work your intake box over top of your intake tube, get that all bolted down

in place.

And finally, to top everything off, install that new air filter onto your intake.

So as I mentioned before, this is a moderately priced cold air intake coming in at right

around 265 bucks.

The ones with a fully enclosed air box, more material, more expensive.

The ones with a metal tube, also going to be more expensive to produce, more expensive

to purchase.

So this is going to a little bit less expensive than some of the other options out there,

but it's still gonna get the job done.

So if you're looking to get a cold air intake on a bit more of a budget but still get one

that's gonna do everything you need it to do, I do think this is a pretty good value.

So if you're looking for an affordable cold air intake for your 4.0 TJ, I definitely recommend

this one from K&N, and you can find it right here at extremeterrain.com.
