Volkswagen Polo - test - Jest Pięknie za kierownicą - Duration: 5:34.

I'm lucky enough to test drive many cars. Most of them were used to get shopping at least once.

I always shop at the same place, I even park my car in the same spot.

So far, only two cars I drove were interesting enough for passers-by to actually ask me questions about them.

First was Mazda2 – this was before I started doing video reviews but there's plenty about it on my blog, links in the description below.

Second one was Volkswagen Polo. I really hope the guy who was ogling it is watching me right now – hello there!

And here are 9 things you have to know about the new Polo.

This is Volkswagen, so it's obvious it gets points for being practical.

There's a lot of space inside and finding the correct driving position is easy.

Even if I dated a basketball player, we could both drive the Polo.

Compartments? There you go. There's one under the driver seat, one in the armrest, there are cup holders and a place for your credit card.

City car is easy to maneuver – there are parking sensors in the front and back, there's hi-res camera with lines on the screen.

If you'd rather not park yourself, there's optional Park Assist.

The DSG gearbox works very nice, but the car itself, equipped with 1.0 litre 115 HP engine is kinda slow.

Sure, it's a shopping cart not a sporty car, but Ford Fiesta with 1.0 (albeit more powerful) engine was way more pleasant to drive.

However, Fiesta was also less fuel efficient.

Here, I used ca. 6.5 litre / 100 kms, regardless of the type of driving.

According to the producer, VW Polo should use 4.7 litre / 100 kms.

GPS and infotainment system in general are awesome. More about them in a separate video – link in the description below, but putting it simply:

Address search is fast, GPS has info on traffic, speed limits and road works.

And because someone decided to equip this exact Polo with virtual cockpit, I can see the map on the display in front of me.

To me, it's an overkill for this model. I liked it in Arteon and Tiguan Allspace, but here, normal dials and GPS on the central display would suffice.

There are other ways to spend the 1600 PLN the virtual cockpit costs.

For example, I don't know, heated side mirrors would be nice - and you can't have them in this model.

However, I'm loving the automatic cruise control – I said it many times, but here it is again: it's sth worth paying for. It makes traveling easier.

Another thing that makes traveling easier is a big boot. This one is 351 litres. This is almost the biggest in class. There are also shopping bag hooks, very useful.

But I have problems with opening / closing the boot, same as I had with Ford Fiesta.

I appreciate the VW Polo as it's practical, roomy, fuel efficient, even though it's hardly sporty, but that's why there's a GTI version.

I'm not sure if I'd buy the car though – or any other B segment car, for that matter.

And what about you? Are you in a market for a car like this? Or maybe you just got one? What was the selling point for you? Let me know in the comments below.
