XProtect Smart Map: Add a custom overlay with a bitmap - Duration: 2:13.

Smart Map provides situational awareness on a global scale by allowing

quick access to relevant devices from anywhere in the world.

In this video tutorial, you will learn how to add a custom overlay with a bitmap.

First, click Setup.

Click the Add a custom overlay icon.

This is the parking lot so we'll name it "Nimbus Parking".

Click the File type or map service dropdown list.

We'll choose Image from the list.

Smart Map supports PNG, BMP, GIF, JPG, PHG, and TIF image formats.

Click the Browse button to select the image file.

After selecting nimbusparking.png, we'll click Open.

And click Save.

The placement is not correct, so we'll reposition the image.

We start by right-clicking to edit the position.

Next, select a corner to rotate and scale.

Now we'll move the pivot point to anchor the image to a specific reference point--

in this case, the intersection.

Once we're satisfied with the position, we save the changes.

The bitmap file is now positioned and scaled correctly.

I chose the PNG format because it supports transparency.

Let's click Setup.

Dash : Smart Taler 2018, конференция о трендах в fintech-сфере, блокчейне и криптовалютах - Duration: 21:11.

Partner of the news is cryptocurrency DASH.

DASH - digital cash. First independent payment system on blockchain basis.

See more details on dash.org

Hello, everyone. You are on Rucrypto.com with Nastya and Liza.

Today we are going to have an uncommon newscast.

We are going to broadcast directly from the place setting.

We are at Smart Taler 2018

The event is being held in the HTP in the capital of the Republic of Belarus.

It is a crypto-, ICO- and blockchain-conference.

There are lots of interesting and cool people, and today we are going to talk with them.

Follow us!

Hello, Maxim. What are your event impressions?

I like it a lot. I like Minsk - it is a very sunny city.

So, this is your first time here?

Right. I have never been to Belarus before.

I also wanted to visit Vitebsk.

What for the event itself, I like the location,

and there are quite lots of people.

So, Belarus has impressed you, right?

That's right.

And what about Smart Taler?

I can see here a lot of people. It was interesting to speak at this conference.

So, you have already presented your speech? - Yes, I have. In the small hall.

Oh, I was expecting that in the big one:)

I missed it, thought it's still going to be ahead.

I present not so many speeches, need to practice, so my speech was early.

Really? What I think - is that one should go straight away.

You just step into the big stage, and that's is: not one step back.

Right. And You become a star immediately. - Of course, no doubts.

What I know about you: you work in the field of marketing

of cryptocurrencies, ICO, blockchain projects.

And as far as I know,

Google and Yandex have banned search advertising and advertising at all, which is connected with cryptocurrencies.

Has it affected your work somehow?

Yes, of course, it has. We do not use search advertising anymore...

- ...And speaking in small halls. - Right (laughing)

We cannot use Yandex, but we can use Google till the 1st of June.

We are not going to use those channels anymore.

We are going to use Mytarget, Vk, Youtube, PR, all other available channels. Mobile platforms as well.

So, there are some options. - For now, yes.

That's great. Hope, it will stay like this.

How do you think, will it affect partnership with DASH?

The partnership of our agency with DASH? - Yes!

Well, of course. We are not going to offer DASH to be promoted in the search advertising,

now it is sensless, it is forbidden.

As for the rest... Well, please, ask your question in some different manner...

Undoubtedly, it will affect it, but...what do you mean?

Well, look: will it be better, or will it be worse. Or this, in principle, will remain the same good,

but differently.

Don't know. There just will be

different channels. There is still quite big space for other promotion,

in particular, email-marketing, partners.

Integration with bloggers is a very interesting topic.

Because when a blogger is working with his audience,

this audience is real,

for instance, he has an audience of 50 thousands people,

he is making a DASH review, and many of this audience become DASH "adherents" after this.

I like the word "adherents". Cool!

Let's say, it's kind of "innovative cult" (laughing),

that only has advantages, and no disadvantages. That's it:)

I have another question which is a little boring, but important.

What events, in your opinion, could affect the price of DASH?

Do you trade?

No, I don't trade.

I prefer long-term investments,

I buy and hold.

No short-term trading for me.

Can they hear us? - Yes, they can.

First of all, DASH Evolution can positively affect the price of DASH.

DASH Evolution, right?

Yes. May be not in this year, but what can we do?

Well, there are just 6 months left till the end of this year,

so, if in the next year, then it is also cool.

Also, joining of merchants could greatly assist with this matter.

Will you tell me what it means?

Well, online-shops, that accept DASH. - Ah, here it is!

That's gonna be cool! So, what can I say more?

You are from Moscow.

Not so long ago, I broadcasted news and talked about the following:

in the Russian Federation a law about digital currencies has been passed .

Everyone thinks that it will be bad for carrying ICOs in Russia.

But in Belarus a Decree number 8 has been passed...

...have you heard about it? - Yes.

I think this is going to positively affect the inflow of

Russian ICOs here, to our country.

How do you think?

I think, yes.

In general, when we learmed about the Decree,

we had a thought like "Belarus is our second mammy",

But...there are many technical questions,

the answer to which is still unclear.

I think, everything will be solved. We are positive. We, Belarussians, as the expression goes, are a peaceful nation, you know.

I wish you good luck.

You are much closer to the goal, then Russia. This is for sure.

I hope it so. Well, we are not many, but we are persistent.

Well, the last question. It is the most serious. How do you think,

is cryptocurrency related to the planet Krypton? The birthplace of Superman?

That's a great question. Okay:)

Well, think about it.

May be it all comes from there. - Yeah, may be.

I was glad to talk to you. - Yeah, me too. - That was super-cool to get to know you.

Let's shake hands.

Watch my broadcasts on Rucrypto.- Okay! - And I will keep on looking at your pictures, as before.

We are talking to a coordinator of the Russian-language DASH community, Alexey Gusev.

- Hello. - Tell us, please, about DASH Evolution.

What perspectives does it have?

Perspectives will be evaluated by the users. We hope they will evaluate them.

Because this is mainly targeted at easy and comfortable use for end customers.

People and entrepreneurs who will like to accept

DASH as a payment.

Ease of use and ease of integration are

the main purposes and the main priorities of this project.

I hope they will see it soon and will be able to evaluate.

So, you think, this project will promote the digital currency?

We have expectations. But the market is going to decide.

We would love people to try to use DASH and see its differencies from other cryptocurrencies.

What are your impressions from this conference?

The conference is interesting. Interesting people come to talk, unlike at conferences in Russia, Moscow,

where events usually have to be paid,,

and quite seriousely paid.

Here the entrance is open for everyone,

and some interesting people come here, who are interested not only in investment,

and in ways of making money,

but there are also people

who are interested in the technology, in how it can change our life to the better.

It is interesting to talk to them. The issues are exciting.

And what are your impressions from Belarus in general?

Belarus is a great country, with nice, open, beautiful people,

so it is nice

to be here!

Thanks a lot for your time.

Smart Taler 2018

The first conference on cryptocurrencies where different coins are presented.

The general partner and sponsor is DASH cryptocurrency.

Also, DASH is organizer of this project.

We are going to talk with Helena Besedina,

who is a Ph.D. in economics,

co-founder of the DASH People project, and a marketologist.

Hello, Helena. - Hello.

I would love to talk about your project DASH People.

What useful things does it bring to DASH,

What perspectives does this project have?

Our project is targeted at promotion of DASH ideas

so that DASH could prosper on the territory of Russia, and not only there.

In Europe as well.

We are actually focused exactly on those regions.

We, of course,

are interested not only in PR-activity,

but also do some concrete moves, that is why we are impatiently waiting for

DASH Evolution, as a payment system, that

would allow us to, let's say, "show our best".

Such conferences as the one being held here today we also percieve as quite actual and reasonable for DASH,

because

if we are talking today about such a product,

as electronic money,

it is impossible to promote it

only through the Internet.

Life communication is needed.

Conferences give such a possibility.

To bring information to the audience, to those who are only stepping in the cryptoindustry,

and make some decisions for themselves.

They can listen from "first hands"

about what is going on inside,

and what is going on in DASH,

and how DASH is developing.

So, for now, here is in general what we do,

Share your impressions about this event, please.

As usual, I have positive impression about such events.

I've told in some previous interviews that

I've been to some European conferences, events,

and Asian as well,

and I can say that

regarding the information component

those conferences that are held in Russia

or as today in Minsk,

are even bigger

by their "filling"

and by their content.

Not long ago, you visited DASH Core office

in Arizona, USA. Tell us, please, about

meeting Ryan Taylor,

and share with us the plans of DASH

which were discussed.

Ryan was quite open.

He gave us time and attention.

We discussed many questions,

that are of interest today in our DASH-sphere, DASH-community,

and that provoke lively discussions.

We've seen the office of DASH Core

because I understand that this was interesting

not only for us,

butalso for the community in general.

So we tried to make such an interview

with Ryan, which is "voluminous" and

at the same time allows viewers to see the office.

I've told in my videos, that

it is a business-center that is situated in Arizona, Phoenix,

close to Phoenix,

on the territory of the University.

It's an incubator of technical or technological ideas -

kind of so they call it.

It is connected with science, research.

So, DASH Core is based on their territory.

Office is representing space in the format of co-working.

Where there is a lot of place for individual work, collective work.

And all of this is covered with sunny atmosphere, so

conditions there are wonderful,

everyone is positive,

and I liked Ryan very much. He shared some personal experience.

How he came to DASH,

why he is developing this project.

From communication with him, I felt that

he really "lives" in this project and this idea of DASH,

and this is nice.

We would also love to listen about the conference

that was held in the International Bank Institute,

that you had visited in Saint-Petersburg.

Liza, it's nice that you've asked about this.

It's a special story.

In St-Petersburg that was our first experience of conducting

such a conference

It was in the form of discussion panel.

There were several interesting speakers.

And that was a worthful idea to have chosen the International Bank Institute,

because today

in the society there is some "counter position" between

financial banking structures

and

cryptocurrencyworld, crypto-industry.

That was very interesting to get to know the point of view

of bank specialists, and future bank specialists,

because at that conference there were students and tutors.

What is their attitude towards new technologies,

including blockchain.

We've got an informative talk

Guests (students) were active.

Of course, we used the possibility to talk about DASH.

Let's say, revealed some of the processes that happen in cryptoindustry,

on the example of DASH-community.

In general, feedback was very positive

after this conference, so

in June we are planning

the next

similar event.

Will you tell us afterwards?

Of course!

Thanks a lot for your time and explained us everything. This was Rucrypto channel.

Hello, Oleg! What are your impressions from the event?

I am very inspired

by this event,

I was a bit afraid that,

as in Belarus there aren't so many of such events,

I was expecting

that a similar story can take place,

as the one which happened

when we visited Nizny Novgorod.

And almost no-one heard about cryptocurrency.

Here the public is very active,

some interesting questions have been asked.

And there is big interest towards the DASH stand.

And to the contest of DASH Wallets installing that is being held today.

This is our first experience in this area,

it inspired us a lot.

Yes, I know, that this is your first experience.

Was it easy to organize all of this?

What difficulties did you face?

How did the idea come?

Looking at how this movement is developing in Russia,

we wanted to bring to Belarus some interesting,

famous speakers.

And we wanted to present our project of the Territory of DASH

in Belarus.

Was it difficult? - Yes.

It was difficult.

But it should be noted that we found partners

who, generally speaking,

"took" the part of the work,

and that is why

everything what was planned

was accomplished.

Thanks to the portal kv.by,

thanks to the HTP.

And to all the team

of the Territory of DASH,

which has done today really good job.

It is very pleasant to hear this.

Gratitude to good people is always great.

Oleg, you've told about Nizny Novgorod.

There were some negative moments as long as I understand.

But you also say that in Russia the crypto-world is developing.

Russia should probably be "divided" into

Moscow, St-Petersburg

and the remaining Russia.

Because things that are quite usual, and

in Moscow and St-Petersburg there are some blockchain events happening once a week,

are not the same in the remaining Russia.

For example, in Nizny Novgorod

we faced the situation

where very few people so far

know about it.

The interest is not the same.

From our conversation it can be understood

that you've visited many conferences,

including conferences in other countries.

What are major differences

between this conference, which is held in the Republic of Belarus,

and in other countries, cities.

What are significant differencies?

I couldn't see special differencies.

Friendly audience

They listen to you more attentively.

I paid attention to this.

And

many questions.

I mean, at the DASH stand.

This shows real interest.

Right. And in Moscow, St-Petersburg, Kyiv

people are a bit fed up with such events.

They come and see the DASH stand.

"Well, that's fine".

But without asking questions.

Sometimes just passing by.

Because people

already know

what DASH is.

And here the interest is live.

You are implementing DASH in the usual people's world.

Introducing cryptocurrency to people.

This is, probably, because of your teacher's background.

Has it become easier after the Decree number 8 was passed?

I've already told in some other interviews

that Decree is just a declaration of intentions.

Belarus is showing to the world

that it has made

the first step to that cryptocurrencies and blockchain

projects in Belarus got

development

and

not just got development,

but they had "green light"

due to the simplified tax system,

due to that cryptocurrencies won't be subject to taxes,

It's a declaration.

But except declaration

must appear laws

and they are quite numerous.

As long as the whole law is formed,

community that is occupied with blockchain-projects, will understand

where they can arrive here in Belarus.

In principle, I think

that there is some positive moment in it.

Let's believe in the best. We are Belarusian, peaceful people. Our hearts are given to our land.

Oleg, now I would like to speak about family.

You have a family. Do they know about cryptocurrency?

Do they know about DASH?

Do they have DASH-wallets?

And in general, do they understand what their father, husband does?

I have a daughter,

she is in the second grade.

When asked about what the parents do,

she tries to explain to her class-mates

what cryptocurrency is,

and what her father does.

So, she undersands.

Right (laughing)

Oleg, that was nice to talk to you.

In conclusion,I would love to know

The first experience is already there. Will there be another conference in the Republic of Belarus? Or you are planning to extend to other countries?

We represent DASH not only in one country, in Belarus, but also in general in Russian-language segment.

A conference in Kazakhstan is expected.

There we are planning to present DASH.

For the month of September, there is a set of events.

Odessa, Moscow, and Kyiv or St-Petersburg.

Now we are talking with partners.

After the discussion is over, a decision on where such a DASH-conference will take place, will be made.

I wish DASH-comunity succes. I also wish success to you.

I think everything will be cool.

I am sure. Thank you, Nastya.

XProtect Smart Map: Add a custom overlay with a CAD drawing - Duration: 2:59.

Smart Map provides situational awareness on a global scale by allowing

quick access to relevant devices from anywhere in the world.

In this video tutorial, you will learn how to add a custom overlay with a CAD drawing.

First, we click Setup.

Then we'll click the Add a custom overlay icon.

And place it in the building.

This is the first floor, suite 190.

Click the Layer name field and name it "1st Floor CAD".

Click the file type or map service dropdown list.

Use the list to select among: computer-aided design (CAD) files which can provide a detailed building plan;

image files, which can also be used to provide building plans;

and shapefiles, a popular geospatial vector data format for geographic information systems (GIS).

We'll choose CAD from the list.

If the CAD file has multiple layers, it imports as one overlay in Smart Map.

So you need to isolate the layers you need before saving the CAD file.

Click the Browse button to select the CAD file.

We select Ste190.dwg and click Open.

Some files have a Spatial Reference System Identifier (SRID) code.

Our file does not have it, so we will need to manually position, scale, and orient the CAD drawing.

Let's click Save.

The placement is not correct, so we need to position the drawing.

Right-click to edit the position.

Select a corner to rotate and scale.

Double-clicking will zoom the view to fit.

Move the pivot point to anchor the CAD file in place.

Then rotate and scale the CAD as needed.

When you are satisfied with the position, save the changes.

The .dwg file is now positioned and scaled correctly.

Click Setup.

You just saw how to add a custom overlay with a CAD drawing.

Comcast's Xfinity® Home Transforms a Miami House into a Sophisticated Smart Home - Duration: 19:11.

(music) - [Narrator] Today

on Designing Spaces, we sent our very own Jaques

Slade from LA to Miami to meet the Andreus,

a family that lives in a beautiful

Spanish-style home in need of a

technological improvement.

Our friends at Xfinity Home from Comcast

will upgrade the already-existing security system

and add the latest in automated devices

to turn this house into a smart home.

Plus, with the Xfinity Home app, the controls are at

their fingertips.

(upbeat music) - Being a victim

of a home burglary is an unsettling thought.

My name is Jaques Slade.

Today I will introduce you to the Andreus,

a family of four living in south Florida

who decided to get peace of mind after their car was broken

into in front of their house.

- Hey.

- Hello.

- You must be Jaques.

- I am.

- Nice to meet you.

When I met Jaques, I thought he was so pleasant,

such a great guy, really techy, and I really just

enjoyed his energy.

So welcome to Miami.

- Yes, it's very nice here.

- Yeah.

- Actually, it kind of reminds me of LA a little bit.

- Cool.

- There's like palm trees and sunshine,

so it kind of feels the same.

- Ah, you know.

- A little more humid here.

- We got a little bit more flavor over here.

- Yes, okay, I'll take that.

(laughing) The Andreus family is

absolutely fantastic.

Sandra, she's the mom, the dancer.

She's the artist of the family.

- Look, Jaques is here.

This is my husband Juan.

- Hey, Juan, how are you?

- Hi, how are you?

- I'm well, I'm well.

The dad, he's a lawyer.

He has his own practice.

Then, we have the two boys, Julian and Cabo.

Julian, he plays the drums, really smart kid,

really on top of things.

Then, we have Cabo.

Cabo is very artistic and he has lots of personality

and you can see that he definitely takes

after his mother in that way.

So the dog, Lupe, is full of energy,

just a really fun, energetic dog.

I really like Lupe.

I might take Lupe home.

So we have some really exciting stuff for you guys today.

I think you're really, really going to like it,

so let's get started.

Talk to me.

Why Xfinity?

- Well, shortly after we moved in, my car was broken into.

They stole a few things from it and we just felt

a little unsafe.

We decided, you know, best to have some sort

of at least basic home security system and that's why.

They got into the car.

They took a few of my personal effects.

They even opened the trunk and took a few things

out of the trunk.

Two small children, you know, we thought we needed some

added security in the house and that's the main

reason we decided to add more sensors

and greater security to the overall house.

- What sort of system do you have installed now?

- Three motion sensors throughout certain

parts of the house and two window sensors

and then just the actual alarm keypad system itself.

- It's a good system.

It's definitely protecting their home,

but we want to add a few more bells and whistles

to make their lives a little easier and to also show them

the capabilities of the Xfinity system.

One of the enhancements of a smart home

often involves cameras.

Is that something that you guys are open to,

having security cameras here at the home?

- Definitely.

- Yeah.

- When my car was broken into like we were talking

about before, that happened right in the

very front of the house.

So a security camera in that area would be great.

I leave to work at around eight o'clock in the morning.

Sandra leaves at about 8:15, she takes the kids to school,

and then we're out of the house the entire day.

- [Jaques] The Andreus decided to install home security

from Xfinity that included 24/7 professional monitoring

with fast response time, real-time alerts,

and remote access on their phones.

Now, with the surge in smart home devices,

they want to enhance their security system.

My goal is making sure that they get the latest security

and automation devices for their needs.

- So how do you pronounce your name?

- Jaques.

- Jaques.

- Like Jacques Cousteau.

- Oh, okay.

So it's not Jack.

- Not Jack or Ja-quis.

- Or en espanol es Joaquin.

- So one of the funny things about my name

is that it's really simple to say,

but a lot of people get it wrong.

It's Jaques Slade.

There's an S on the end, so I get Jacks

or I get Jocks or I get Jack-ees or today, if you're by Uber

driver, you call me Wah-kez.

Alright, guys, so one of the cooler places in the house

is this room 'cause it has a lot of smart connected devices,

but you can't really see them.

(upbeat music)

(upbeat music) - The Andreus is

a family of four living in the Shenandoah

neighborhood of Miami.

This is a changing neighborhood and the family wants

the peace of mind of having the latest in home

security and automation.

In addition to that, they are very excited about the idea

of turning their house into a smart home.

I have invited in my friends from Comcast

to help us with all that.

(rock music) So the guys just

finished the install.

First, we have door window sensors.

So we have one here and there's actually going to be one

on every door that faces the outside.

If they go in and out of that door, they'll get an alert

and then we also placed them in the bedrooms

on the bedrooms windows as well.

We just thought it was really important

that they have protection there and that they were notified

if those windows were opened.

Then, you'll also see that we have motion sensors

in this room, in the family room.

They're in the laundry room, but they're also in

the bedrooms as well.

- Awesome.

- Excellent.

- Now, looking across, we see that you have

a smart thermostat.

The family already had some smart devices

which we were really excited about,

but what we were able to do is integrate those into one app

so they only have one place to go

whenever they want to control everything.

So the first thing we hooked up was their smart thermostat.

From what I understand, Juan likes to keep it

a little cooler in the house than Sandra.

- Yeah.

In Miami it gets really warm and Juan likes to keep the

temperature nice and cool, so at times he drops

it to like 69 degrees which is, for me,

sweater weather.

- See, with the app, you can just put it back to

where it's supposed to be.

- I like that feature.

(laughs) - [Jaques] Yeah.

- A lot.

(laughing) - Then, we also connected it

to the Xfinity smoke detector as well.

- So you know our house was built in 1938

and it's been added onto over the years

so the other thing I love about having this system

and adding this system: it's basically integrating

the new with the old.

- Then, right to your right we have the smart light bulb.

That way you can control that from the app as well.

One of the things that we're adding

that we think they're really going to like

is the smart light bulb.

They'll be able to change the color temperature

of the light, they'll be able to turn it on,

they'll be able to turn it off.

Alright, guys, so one of the cooler places in the house

is this room 'cause it has a lot of smart connected devices,

but you can't really see them which is really

part of the plan.

First, we have the cameras here.

This will allow you to see this room,

but there's not only one.

There's actually three here at the house.

There's one in the backyard and there's one in

the front as well.

- After having the cameras, I actually feel a lot safer.

I now check (laughing) the activity on my app.

- One of the enhancements that I really like

about this system is that for 24 hours a day

they have live surveillance, but then they also have a 10-day

archive so they can go back and watch things that

happened in the past.

To your right, we have a smart outlet.

One of the coolest things of this whole setup

is the X1 voice remote.

It lets you control everything from your TV.

Check this out.

Xfinity Home, back camera.

You can talk into it and find the television show

that you want to watch, but one of the things

that we really like about it is how it integrates into

the security system.

As you can see, pops on the back camera,

but you can also do the front camera,

and then you also have the camera for this room as well.

- Oh, Lupe.

- Hi, Lupe.

- No more searching on the guide for what's that channel again.

I say the channel and it comes on the TV.

I can also control all the smart features,

everything from the thermostat to the different systems

that are integrated with the remote control.

I can control those all right there

from the touch of a button on my hand.

- I know you guys are dining with friends tonight

and so I don't want to impose, so I'm gonna pass off the

remote responsibilities to you.

- Thank you.

- I've heard he's a bit of a control freak.

- Yeah, I know.

- I figure, I know who to pass the remote to.

(laughing) I know.

Enjoy the system and I'll see you guys soon.

(upbeat music) - It's great having you here.

Thank you very much for coming.

- [Man] Oh, thank you.

- [Sandra] Thank you.

- Thank you for having us.

- [Man] You've been busy, right?

- Yeah, so we have like a few devices

that have been added to our home thanks to Xfinity

and the wonderful thing is that we can control them

all through our phone.

There's an amazing Xfinity Home app and you can control

like the arming and disarming the house.

- [Woman] Gosh.

- We've got a camera system now.

We've got the thermostat.

We can raise and lower the temperature.

We've got it smoke detectors.

- And you can even turn on a light inside the house

to make it look like if somebody's there.

- I've got a notification.

- Oh, wait.

What's that?

A smoke alarm?

- Yeah, looks like it.

- [Woman] Oh no.

- Let's take a look.

Go to the camera system.

- [Sandra] Oh.

Oh, it's Rachel.

She burned-- - Yeah, it looks like

she burned something.

I got the notification that the smoke alarm had gone off,

I turned on the phone, saw the camera,

and then I was able to see that what it actually was

was my babysitter burned something.

What a relief it was to know that nothing had

actually happened in the house.

- Yeah, okay.

- Whew.

- [Sandra] My goodness.

- [Woman] Could've been worse.

- Yeah.

(laughing) Alright.

Cheers.

This Miami traffic, I mean, it's crazy over here

on this schedule.

(speaking Spanish) I know that I speak Spanglish.

(upbeat Latin music)

- There are many products out there today

that say they provide home security.

While they may offer remote access, they don't provide

professional monitoring or emergency response.

With Xfinity Home, 24/7 professional monitoring

with fast response time is included in your service.

Whether you're home or away, our award-winning central

monitoring station keeps an eye out on your house.

So if there's a security issue, if a fire is detected,

or something else, we'll dispatch the

authorities as needed.

Battery and cellular backup are also included,

so when the power goes out, you're still protected.

(upbeat music) - [Jaques] Sandra is

a contemporary dancer and choreographer.

She's now producing an experimental work

for an upcoming concert.

Her schedule is usually very demanding and unpredictable.

- Today, we're here at the Miami Light Project

and we're rehearsing for a new work that I'm producing.

Of course, Murphy's Law, I forgot to disarm the house

and I'm expecting a package today

and of course, I'm not gonna be able

to make it on time to pick up the kids.

So you know.

C'est la vie.

- So Sandra the other day goes to work, right.

She works at the Miami Light Project.

Then, when she was there, she realized she forgot

to arm the alarm.

So the great thing is she opened up the application,

at the touch of a button, she was able to arm the alarm,

saw that all the sensors were closed, and that was it.

- So this is the app and if I want to like disarm

or arm the house, just go here.

I select my mode.

I can go stay, away night right on the phone.

- Wow.

- So look at this.

I love this part.

Look at the camera.

- It's so clear.

- [Sandra] Yeah, that's the package that I was waiting for.

- [Woman] Yay, so you know it's there.

Yay.

- I know.

(upbeat Latin music) Not only was I not able to

make it to the kids' school on time, I'm not even gonna be

able to make it to the house to open the door for

Rachel, the babysitter.

Thankfully, she was able to pick them up.

This Miami traffic, I mean, it's crazy over here

on this schedule.

(speaking Spanish) I know that I speak Spanglish.

I mean, that's just kind of like a Miami thing.

(ringing) - [Rachel] Hello?

- Hey, Rachel, how are you?

- [Rachel] Hola, girlfriend.

Como estas?

- You know, Miami traffic.

I'm good, I'm good.

We really mix things in there.

(speaking Spanish) I just wanted to thank you

so much for helping us out and I'm gonna disarm

the system, okay.

- [Mimi] Okay, (speaking Spanish).

And you're welcome.

- Alright, Mimi, I'll see you soon.

(speaking Spanish) So I'm a first-generation

American.

My father was born in Havana, Cuba.

My mother was born in Medellin, Colombia.

So we have a few artists in the family.

It just so happens that there's sort of a family tie

with Gabriel Garcia Marquez who was a famous

Colombian writer.

He was best friends with my grandmother's first cousin,

Alvaro Cepeda Samudio.

You know, I was always inspired by Gabriel Garcia Marquez's work

and the connection with the family.

So I grew up really finding the importance

of learning my roots and my tradition

and also the importance of speaking both languages,

English and Spanish.

(upbeat music) - [Juan] Hi, guys.

- [Sandra] Hey.

- [Juan] Got pizza.

- Oh, thank you, babe.

- Yeah, yeah.

- It's time to eat.

It's time to eat.

- Alright, come on.

Another great part of the system is the xFi app.

So the xFi app allows me to control the WiFi access points

basically throughout the house.

- Yeah.

- Yeah, I'm gonna disconnect the WiFi.

- He's not paying attention.

- Don't worry about it.

I'll take care of it.

- [Sandra] Eating is not important.

- It's not working.

- [Sandra] Mmm hmm.

Hand it over.

Let's go.

- Okay, let's eat some pizza, party.

(upbeat music)

- One of the great benefits of Xfinity Home is

that you can customize your system

to fit the needs of your home and family.

Many customers add cameras and 24/7 video recording

to their system so they can check in on things at home

in real time and also scroll back

to see what happened previously.

10 days of video is stored in the cloud

that you can download and save and share with your

friends and family.

You can also further personalize your system

with smart devices like thermostats,

lighting, and door locks.

We've partnered with some of the leaders in the industry

to give you the choice.

You can control all of it from your fingertips

with the Xfinity Home mobile app or X1.

(upbeat music) - So I allowed the

Andreus a couple days to get familiar

with their system.

Today, I'm gonna go back to see how everything worked out.

- Jaques.

- Hey, how are you?

- Hey.

- Good to see you again.

- Thanks for coming.

- So I had the pastelitos.

- Yes?

- And can I just say, absolutely amazing.

(speaking Spanish) - I think I can say I'm

a pastelito guy now.

Is that a thing?

Anyone know?

Anyone?

Is pastelito guy a thing?

- Juan.

(speaking Spanish) - Hey.

- [Jaques] Hey, man.

- Great to see you again.

- Good to see you as well.

How are you?

- Not bad, not bad at all.

- Alright, let me take a note here.

I see that he has the remote.

(laughs) - Oh yeah.

- Did you give it to him?

- Oh, no, no, he's made friends with it.

- He's made friends with the remote?

- Yeah.

- Show me something.

You know how to use it?

- Oh yeah, watch this.

Play soccer.

- [Jaques] Okay, alright.

- [Juan] Pretty cool, huh?

- [Sandra] Yeah.

- Point proven.

Point proven.

(laughing) Also, I know we added

a few smart devices to your system already, but

you can actually add more to the system if you wanted to.

So say maybe there was a smart lock

you wanted to put on the front door

or if you wanted to add more lights

to add more accents to different areas of the house

which seems very nice or the garage.

If you want to use a garage door opener,

you can add that to your system as well

and you control it all directly from your app.

- Sweet.

That's pretty cool.

- Absolutely.

- Also, the remote can put the menu into Spanish.

I know both of your parents often come over

and watch the kids, so if they wanted the option

to actually change the menu into Spanish,

they have the option to do that directly from the remote

as well which is pretty cool.

- That is very cool.

Juan and I, we really like to go out every once in a while

and thankfully my parents come over

and take care of the kids.

One thing that we found really interesting

is that they're able to change the language

interface of the system so they could check out all

the menu options in Spanish.

Does it make margaritas?

- It does not make margaritas.

(laughs) We're working on that.

It's in beta.

It's in beta.

- Okay.

- Yeah, yeah.

(laughing) - [Narrator] To

finish explaining the system to the Andreus,

we have invited our friend Derrick Dicoi

from Xfinity Home from Comcast who brings some amazing

tips for the family.

- Hi.

- [Derrick] Hi, I'm Derrick.

- Sandra.

Nice to meet you.

- Nice to meet you.

- Come on in.

- Thank you for having me.

- How are you, sir?

- I'm great.

It's good to see you.

- Good to see you as well.

So remember I was telling you about the rules and the scenes

that you can set up in the system?

- Yeah.

- Well, Derrick is here to explain all of that.

He's the expert.

- Yeah.

And you've got the T-shirt for it, right?

- I do.

- Let's go.

Alright.

- The T-shirt wins.

Alright, let's go.

(upbeat music) - So a rule is basically

something you can create to be notified on

a regular basis.

So for example, everyday you can say,

"Hey, at 3 p.m., disarm the system,"

so that when your kids come home,

you don't have to worry about them setting off the alarm.

What's more important is something called scenes.

- I know what scenes are.

I mean, I've worked in the theater and in dance

and I was like, "How does this tie into

Xfinity Home security?"

- So imagine a world where at 8:15 everyday or about there,

when you leave your house, your system arms,

all the lights that you want to turn off, turn off,

and the thermostat adjusts to the perfect temperature.

So when you leave your house, you never have to worry about,

"Hey, did I turn that light off?

"Did I turn the thermostat down?

"Did I arm the system?"

Everything is just done for you.

- I think he loves that.

(laughs) Because he complains a lot

that sometimes I will occasionally leave

the one light on.

(laughing) - The husbands crossed the bear.

(laughing) - In a sense, it's almost

like an energy saver, so you guys can set it up

to automatically kind of turn down the house.

- That's great.

(upbeat music) When we got all the devices

installed in the home, it was like Christmas for Juan.

He was like a kid in a candy shop.

- I can control all sorts of different functions

from within the home: lighting systems, the AC system.

All from the touch of a button on my phone.

- We live such hectic lives that anything

that can make our lives just a little easier

and a little bit more efficient will definitely go a long way.

- One thing that I learned about this experience is

that if you give the family the tools that they need,

they'll be able to customize them to their own.

Every family is different and with the system,

you're allowed to really customize it

to individual situations.

This family, they wanted the cameras,

they wanted the motion detectors,

they wanted to connect their smart devices,

so we were able to do that for them.

What I really hope is that this helps them feel safer

in their home, but it also makes their lives easier.

It's not about just saying they have this cool

security system.

We want to give them something that they can use

and adds value to them.

I feel like we were able to accomplish that.
