What's up guys, this is Pikachu Horsetail (subbed with text-to-speech) back with another
video.
I'm sorry I have been absent from uploading for a while, but my school computer's microphone
isn't working and our school's having a walkout, so...
Anyway, what I wanted to talk about was the recent trailer that dropped for the upcoming
Teen Titans Go movie.
This is the second trailer that has come out promoting the movie airing in theaters July
27, while the first one was released a while back.
For now, we're focusing on the second trailer.
So as you can tell from the beginning of this video, a LOT more about the movie has been
revealed, including the return of Slade into the franchise after being absent for most
of the rebooted series, with the exception of the season 2 episode "The Return of Slade"
(more on that later).
We find our heroes mistaking him for Deadpool, which in my opinion is both stupid and hilarious
upon watching it for the first time, especially with the highly anticipated release of Deadpool
2 in about three weeks.
It also occurred to me that while writing the script for this video, I stumbled across
the fact that the Titans have known Slade for YEARS dating back to the original series
from 2002, so that brings up the question: when the Titans were rebooted, which we first
found out in the season 3 episode "The Fourth Wall", did they lose their memories as what
they truly were 15 years ago?
Looking at Slade's reaction to the whole "he's Deadpool" bit, he doesn't seem to have some
sort of huge reaction along the lines of "you seriously don't know who I am?"
rather than "he should be the one saying he's not me" like it is in the trailer.
From there we can theorize that either Robin is lying in "The Return of Slade" when he
states that they have fought him before, or the universe has been reset just before the
events of this movie take place.
Either way, it would disprove the fact that the Titans have been rebooted right after
the OG Titans ended, as seen in "The Fourth Wall".
unless the universe constantly resets itself after every season or episode in the current
rebooted series, which is the case since the universe was reset after the season 1 episode
"Ghostboy" when all the Titans die and become ghosts but the very next episode "La Larva
de Amor" they were all alive and healthy.
And let's not forget about the most important theory in this analysis: the movie is chronologically
supposed to take place in the middle of "The Return of Slade".
Before you go hitting the comments saying, "But Pikachu, that was nearly three years
ago, the writers can't think that far ahead because they're making such a stupid and derailing
cartoon!"
Now hear me out: In the beginning of the episode, we see the
Titans chilling, watching Pretty Pretty Pegasus ('cause that's how they do) then all of a
sudden the crime alert comes on.
Everyone finds out that Slade is back at it again, then Robin is like "Titans, Go!" and
they go.
However, we don't see them on the battlefield.
We see a card that says "Three episodes and a made-for-TV movie later".
Despite TTGO to the Movies is not going to be a made-for-TV movie, like Nickelodeon's
"Rufus" or "Swindle", it is a movie nonetheless, and this movie does mark Slade's first ever
appearance in the rebooted series since then, so I'll leave that theory for you to decide
in the comments.
So yeah, this trailer was actually pretty good.
The waffles gag with Slade, Cyborg and Beast Boy got me chuckling at the end, and the jokes
actually felt like they weren't forced because it was a cartoon show for three-year-olds.
Slade is now one of the best characters in my opinion that I have seen so far in the
show, while the Titans are either totalitarian or just plain stupid.
So I hope you guys liked this theory and if you did, leave a like and subscribe to my
channel, I promise there will be more uploads like this one, thanks for watching and DFTBA!
