Piers Morgan SAVED from cancer after warning from eagle-eyed viewer
The Good Morning Britain host says he has expert Gillian Nuttall to thank after she spotted an alarming blemish on his chest.
Gillian, the founder of Melanoma UK, warned the motormouth to get it checked out after watching his ITV Serial Killer documentary – and the advice may have saved his life.
Piers, 52, said: "When my Serial Killer crime documentary aired on ITV in November, Gillian Nuttall, founder of Melanoma UK, emailed me to say: 'Piers, at the risk of sounding like a lunatic, I'm just watching your programme and there's a blemish visible on your chest.
Have you had it checked?'".
"Oh the irony of a serial killer inadvertently helping to save my life" Piers Morgan Piers went to a leading dermatologist who immediately cut out the blemish as he feared it could have turned cancerous if it had been left unattended much longer.
Dad-of-three Piers, married to journalist Celia Walden, 41, said: "This week, a top dermatologist took one look and immediately cut it out. "Much further delay, he informed me, and it might well have turned cancerous.
"'Give that lady a gold star!' he said. Piers added: "Thanks, Gillian. Oh the irony of a serial killer inadvertently helping to save my life.
Merry Christmas!" Manchester-born Gillian founded Melanoma UK in 2007. It gives support to patients of the most deadly form of skin cancer, usually detected when a mole appears on the body.

GMB weatherman Alex Beresford doesn't want Piers Morgan's support for Dancing On Ice
Good Morning Britain's Alex Beresford has made his feelings known about his controversial colleague. The chirpy weatherman is taking part in the reboot of the beloved skating show alongside stars including Bake Off's Candice Brown and Love Island's Kem Cetinay.
However, he is adamant that he doesn't want the support from breakfast show host Piers.
His rejection of the outspoken presenter follows Charlotte Hawkins' early exit on Strictly this year. Speaking to Mirror TV, he revealed: "When Charlotte was doing Strictly, when he got behind her, she was getting less votes.
"But if you diss her on national TV, everyone jumps in and helps.
"So I hope he continues to diss me." Despite Piers repeatedly taking digs at Alex during the morning programme, Alex has insisted that it's all for entertainment purposes.
He revealed: "We banter back and forth everyday, I think he's secretly pleased I'm doing the show.
"He said he's got my full support until I fall over so I'm trying not to fall over.
"I think deep down he does care." Alex, 37, also added that he doubts Piers, 52, will ever take a spin on the ice, as he "cares about his image too much.".
