5 smart reasons to own life insurance - Duration: 3:10.

What do you think?...Do I look smart?

Or what about these?

Smarter?

Or these…. Super intelligent, right? Great!

Because I'm going to cover a topic

a lot of people don't feel too well-informed about.

But I'm going to change that.

After all, who's not going to learn from a genius face like this?

Hi, I'm Joe for Securian. And I'm here to share five reasons why

owning life insurance can be a really smart idea.

A lot of people think they can't afford life insurance.

And while the cost does vary for factors like age and overall health,

it often costs less than many people think.

In fact, it's not uncommon for healthy people under 40 to qualify

for a half-million-dollar term policy for less than $36 dollars a month!

Less than $30 dollars, if you're 29 or younger! Smaarrt.

You don't buy life insurance for yourself

you buy it for the loved ones you leave behind.

Think about it: Would your family's lifestyle suffer if they lost your income?

Would they be able to stay in your house?

Would your kids be able to go to college?

Or, if you're single, would you be sticking your parents with your debts,

funeral costs and other financial loose ends?

Life insurance is a really smart way to protect your loved ones

so they don't have to add financial stress to an already difficult time.

Fact: More adults between 25 and 44 die each year from a serious illness than by accident!

But don't wait to see if you get sick before you buy life insurance

it might be impossible to get it.

Just like I hear it's also tough to get fire insurance while your house is burning

or flood insurance if your house is already underwater.

The smart thing to do is to get life insurance while you're healthy!

Here's one a lot of people don't know.

One type of life insurance – permanent life insurance

can accumulate cash value as the years go by.

And you can use that cash value any time during your life

to do things like fund a college education,

or provide another income stream in retirement.

That's so smart, it hurts.

Besides loved ones, you may also have favorite organizations and causes that mean a lot to you.

Life insurance is a way you can continue to support the values you believe in,

even after you've gone.

Have you thought about the legacy you want to leave behind?

Life insurance can help you fulfill it.

And there you go: five great reasons to own life insurance.

Don't you just feel smarter already?

If you want to know more about life insurance, search for the topic on Securian.com.

We're here to help.

The Cheerios Effect - Duration: 5:36.

[MUSIC]

The breakfast table's probably the last place you'd expect to find cool physics, but

there is some awesome science happening right here, and you've probably seen lots of times

without even realizing it.

Ever notice how cereal tends to stick together in the middle of the bowl?

Or it clumps to the edges.

That makes it easy to eat, but why does it happen?

We see this same clumpage with other objects too: paper clips, thumb tacks, even bubbles

in a beverage will snap together.

Maybe you've noticed this, but scientists didn't fully understand what was going on

until 2005, when a pair of mathematicians decided to hit the lab, it hthe kitchen, and

hit the books.

What they found is cool.

I'm super cereal.

Check this out.

Breakfast cereal is less dense than water (and milk is mostly water).

It's buoyant, it weighs less than the milk it displaces.

That force of buoyancy pushes up on each ring, until it matches the downward force of gravity.

This interaction holds the Cheerios at the surface of the liquid, like little toasty

rafts drifting together on top of a sea of cereal milk (mmmm cereal milk).

It's a really complicated way of saying cereal floats.

But look closely at where the cereal meets the liquid.

It's curved up.

The same thing happens at the edge of the container, thanks to the meniscus effect.

Water molecules are sticky – they're attracted to each other, but they're even more attracted

to the edges of your bowl or glass, or to the edge of the cereal itself.

That "adhesion" forms a U-shape wherever the liquid meets an edge.

A buoyant object will always be pushed up the liquid to the highest point on a meniscus.

That's what makes them stick to the edge, and what causes the cheerios to become cheeri-amigos.

Any two nearby Os are pushed to a high point between them, and clumps are pushed towards

the overall highest point in the bowl, around the edge.

Let's try something denser.

I don't recommend eating paperclips, but toss them in water and they sink.

Place them carefully though, and you can get them to float.

They're too dense to be buoyant, they float because of surface tension.

Water molecules like to stick to each other so much, they can behave like a membrane that's

strong enough to hold up tiny things.

Let's try it with these thumbtacks.

Like the paper clips, you can see they're pushing that membrane dow, just not hard enough

to break through.

If I place another one nearby, watch what happens.

They're attracted to each other, just like the Cheerios.

But the water around each one is curving down.

Instead of climbing up the water like cereal did, they fall into each other's sinkhole.

We can mess this scenario up just by adding soap.

The chemical properties of soap lower the surface tension of water, so anything relying

on surface tension to stay afloat will sink.

But buoyant objects don't rely on surface tension, so they continue surfing the meniscus.

The first time I did this, I wondered if the tacks were being pulled together by static

attraction on the plastic coating or something.

So I put in just the plastic bit to see.

But instead of being pulled toward the tacks, something strange happened… they repelled

each other.

The same thing happens with Cheerios and a paper clip.

That's because light, floaty objects run away from the low points caused by the heavy

objects.

A buoyant object will always repel something held up by surface tension's stretchy membrane.

Just to be clear, you should never put thumbtacks in your cereal.

But this is what would happen if you did.

All of this made me wonder: What could happen if we could reverse the direction of water's

meniscus?

I coated this glass with a hydrophobic coating that does just that.

When I put thumbtacks on top of the water in here, they floated to the edge instead

of the center.

And that buoyant object did the opposite, it floated to the middle.

So that's cool and all, but does the physics of cereal clumping actually matter in the

real world?

It does if you're a tiny insect.

Take water striders,.

These pond skaters are nature's Cheerios.

They float so well that even a load 15 times their body weight won't make them sink.

They can even jump on water.

Tiny hairs on their legs trap air bubbles and increase their buoyancy.

They're basically wearing swim floaties on their feet.

Other aquatic insects like water treaders exploit surface tension, just like thumbtacks

and paper clips.

But they get in trouble when it's time to get out.

Gravity is pushing them into the depressions under their feet, but they've come up with

a clever way to climb the meniscus.

A running start doesn't work.

But by arching their bodies and lifting their front and back ends, the bugs curve the water

up, and are pulled to the edge just like the Cheerios were.

They're carried uphill by a physics-powered water escalator.

That's pretty cool.

If you can find science like this at breakfast, imagine what else you might see the rest of

day.

Try this for yourself, and see what other floating objects you can get to attract or

repel.

Leave a comment and let me know what you find.

And if you see any cool physics in everyday life I should check out in a future video,

let me know.

Stay curious.

How To Be Emotionally Smart - Duration: 6:00.

Hello and welcome to another video

we often associate success with intelligence.

Specifically with the ability, to think, understand, and solve complex problems and thats why we

came to a conclusion that the smarter we are, the more successful we are going to be.

That sounds like a rational thinking.

In fact our entire school systems is designed to make us smarter.

But unfortunately I have some bad news, Intelligence is mostly genetic, which means that you are

born with it and you cant really change it much and I have explained that in another

video which link you can find in the description.

Now, Before you get disappointed, let me share with you the good news!

Being intellectually super smart isn't exactly what you want because intellect isn't necessarily

going to make you successful.

In fact this is the smartest person alive, his IQ is much higher than Einstein's one.

And I am optimistic that you haven't even heard about him and thats because he hasn't

achieved the kind of success that you are imagining.

What will determine your level of success is your emotional intelligence and guess what!

You can improve it as much as you want.

So why don't you hit that subscribe butting and the bell besides and find out how!

Lets understand what is emotional intelligence in the first place

There are many different types of emotions that effects our actions, Almost everything

we do is a result of one of them,

It might sound simple to manage your emotions but its extremely difficult in practice.

How many times you have found yourself getting angry and out of control?

how many times you found yourself constantly worried that you cant even sleep when you

really want that?

Even things such as, you level of motivation or confidence are a direct result of your

emotions.

Emotional Intelligence can be broken into 5 parts.

first, self awareness

Its the ability to realize and understand your own feelings.

Often when we get angry for example, we don't really realize we are in a state of anger

because our emotions are in control.

Its later on when we calm down, we regret the things we said or the things we did because

if we would have been conscious at that moment, we might had acted differently.

The ability to understand what you feel every moment will help you to manage them better.

Self awareness also allows you to understand your strength and weaknesses so you will take

better decisions when it comes to choose what to study in college or which job to accept

thats best for you!

Second, managing emotions

Most people are really bad at managing their emotions.

Something bad happens and we cant stop thinking about it for the whole day if not weeks.

Its already 2 am and you cant fall sleep because you are still stressed out about it - how

could he possible offend me, why didn't I do this instead of that.

Sometimes even if nothing bad is happening, we might remember something not so good happened

to us in the past and freak out again about it now and spoil the rest of the day.

Especially when we go through some real problems such as breaks ups, failure, rejection

we might spend days being sad, disappointed and angry at life.

Why did it happen to me?

Why I am always rejected?

Why me again!!!

This is all a result of not knowing how to manage your emotions.

and by improving your emotional intelligence, you will drastically free your mind from unnecessarily

worries and focus more on the beauty of life.

You understand that hardship and setbacks are an essential part of life and worrying

about them isn't going to change anything.

Third, self motivation

have you ever watched a motivation video or a movie that suddenly motivated you, made

you feel energetic and ambitious to go out there and change the world or become the person

that history will remember for centuries to come.

You suddenly felt that you can achieve what seemed to be impossible before and thats all

because of your emotions.

In other words, knowing how to better manage your emotions can help you to keep yourself

motivated consistently to stay focused on your goals.

fourth, empathy

But being emotionally intelligent isn't only about understanding your own emotions

but rather the emotions of people you are dealing with.

Understanding what they feel and why they feel like that.

Weather its sadness, misery or perhaps envy, you will be to approach them in the way they

would want to be approached which will help you to build a strong relationship with that

person.

What does it means to put yourself in other persons shoes and look at the situation from

their perspective.

Imagine how many arguments we could have avoided or how many relationships we would have saved

if we would good at empathy.

Often break ups for example happen when we fail to understand each others emotions. This

is by far the most important social skill.

and lastly, handling relationships

This has to do more with leadership, Charisma and popularity.

Managing people is probably what distinguishes successful people from rest of us.

If you just take a look at those whom you consider to be successful, weather its a great

entrepreneur or a politician, you will realize that the common trait amongst all of them

is that they could inspire people to follow them, their ideas and beliefs.

In fact, studies have proven we our emotions are contagious, they spread like viruses.

Thats why you find great speakers energising their audience.

In short, this is what emotional intelligence is all about, and getting better at these

5 things is far more important than your IQ.

This video is based on the book Emotional intelligence by Daniel Goleman and its filled

with lessons that can help you to master your emotions and significantly improve your life

in all areas.

I have left the link in the description if you want to get the book.

And now its your turn, what do you think?

Do you still believe than IQ is more important than EQ? or emotional intelligence plays a

much bigger role in our life?

I would love to know your opinion?

And as always, thank you for watching, give this video a thumbs if you have enjoyed and

I will see you in the next one.
