Hey Freedy, you think it's manageable to plant the knee with any bike ?
Dunno, we should try that
Agreed
I myself have a question
Tell me
Why the hell are we lying down here ?
Well I had to figure out an introduction Freddy
Today we're gonna try to plant the knee with…
whatever we could get our hands on
Then we'll take advantage of the fact that Freddy Forray came with the brand new CBR1000RR
I must say that I'm starting to doubt right now
Well I've got to admit you lost it this time
Rock-paper-scissors for the Piaggio MP3 ?
So be it
In fact, we have no reason to be worried
Because physics make it so that when a bike has speed and grip, it just stands
The more a body spins quickly around his rotation axis
the more the gyroscopic effects prevents any modification of said axis
On the other hand, physics never took account of the MP3…
Long story short : it is possible to plant the knee with a Goldwing dude !
But moreover, physics is your friend on a motorcycle
even when you've got three wheels.
And after all those experiments, if you want to learn to plant the knee, I advise you try roadsters
They have high ground clearance, are shorter than superbikes
this way they need a slower pace and less angle to plant the knee
You can also try with a trail…even tough you'll look like a fool on a track.
But, by the way, what's the point of planting the knee ?
You mean aside from looking ridiculous like you did
it is very useful to plant the knee on a track
First, it is a very important landmark to know your angle, your speed…
that really is the most important thing.
First, you need a good position during the straight line
So you have to bend, and in order to bend, you have to close your legs and move your butt back
Before braking, you have to pop your bum out
If you do it while starting to lean, you'll give movement to the bike and It will disturb you
So, now that your buttcheek is out, you brake
Now, in this position, you only have to unfold your knee
Then you have to get your head the closet possible to the inside wrist
In the end, the goal is to get your back bone parallel to the motorcycle's axis
One more thing, you need to put your feet as a kneecap
so it grants you enough mobility
This way you won't have any excuse about your "flexibility", which is the most common excuse
No, that's just about a bad foot positioning
Then, when you'll use your boot sliders while leaning
you get your feet back to the footrest, always on the tip of your foot
There you go. It's perfect like this
Perfect ? we'll try then…
but that's my first time on a track with a 1000cc
And if I crash Aurélien is going to kill me
After 13 years of career, this year, Honda proposes a brand new CBR1000RR
Lighter, more powerfull and better equipped, that is an entirely new model
But be reassured, it keeps what defines it : ease
I wasn't comfortable about riding a 1000cc on track, but with this one, my deflowering has been marvelous !
On a side note, protection here is almost inexistent
you will get a right mouthful… of wind of course
But that's a detail, let's get back to the pit-lane where Freddy awaits my review
but is also impatient to detail the beast for you
Really this bike is incredibly easy to ride. Right away it felt like I knew it since I was still teething
But what about the numbers ?
The bike's 192hp
It must be said that Honda did not necessarily tried to come out with an extremely powerful motorcycle
They rather worked on the weight which is 195kg
So this is what makes the bike as easy as you've seen
Also, there's about 90% of new parts here
The revolution however is clearly the electronics that comes with this latest badge of the Fireblade
That's it, it has finally been released !
So, here we have a bike with traction control, adjustable on 9 positions with possibility to disable it
anti-wheeling
3 engine mappings
an engine brake management
ride by wire
the 5 axis bosh inertial measurement unit which comes with most superbikes
The only flaw among this nice stuff is the ABS…which can't be disabled
And on heavy brakings, it makes the lever shake…
not so great
But don't worry, it is still possible to push hard
As for the braking, the Tokico caliper shows worthy of the expectancies placed in it
with power and gradualness, even with those damn plastic hoses
The SP version distinguish itself with Brembo brake calipers
an up&down shifter
and Öhlins electronic suspensions
against a Showa, fully adjustable fork on the standard version
With a new frame and a new swingarm, both gaining 10% of rigidity, the chassis is really sane
Engine wise, even if not as sensational as the concurrence with its 10hp gap
it is still very well filled with more than enough to lift the front and shake the handlebar at full throttle
Freddy told you, Honda preferred ease over power
In the end, the CBR is less sharp than the concurrence but very efficient for Mr. average
Very well finished and well equipped, the standard version cost 17 999€
which is 1 000€ less than the R1 and 1 400€ more than the GSXR
The Kawasaki being about the same price
In summary, the new CBR is an awesome tool
and it is possible to plant the knee with a Piaggio MP3
Well it wasn't that hard in the end
What's up goons, wanna try to plant the knee in duo ?
Are you kidding ?
Why are you complaining ? it goes well shit your crappy intro
Yeah, well… can't argue with that
On the CBR1000RR we liked:
The ease to get familiar with it
The well filled engine that isn't frightening
Agility
The looks, very... italianish
We disliked:
The plastic brake hoses, really ?
Inability to disable the ABS
