Korean automakers are cleaning up in the global eco-friendly auto market.
According to industry tracker I-H-S, Hyundai Motor and its corporate cousin Kia Motors
were the world's second largest sellers of green cars in the first half of 2017.
The two automakers sold some 102-thousand units such as electric and plug-in hybrid
vehicles globally, ...achieving record half-year sales with more than a two-fold increase from
the previous year.
They also reached their goal of becoming the world's second-largest eco-friendly carmaker
by 2020 …three years early…, fuelled by increasing demand for cars like the Hyundai
Ioniq hatchback.
Hyundai and Kia surpassed Japan's Honda but have yet to catch up to market leader Toyota.
