No lights at all

Low beam

High beam

Low beam with Fog Light

Hello Youtube, It's Steve.

I'm making this for those V-Strom owners who are considering fog lights.

It's evening time. I'm just riding around here and there.

First of all, let's take a look at the fog lights.

I couldn't really find a good review on this product.

The two white lights on the bottom.

It's Suzuki OEM LED Fog Light

I had a bit of hesitation of it and I think other V-Strom owners probably have similar thoughts as mine.

Because first of all, it's bit pricy than it looks. They look like nothing but...

And the 2nd, installation is bit complicated.

The installation requires to loose the radiator to do the wiring work because the electric cables are located behind the radiator under the heat shield.

And in order to get the radiator loose, all the side cowlings need to be removed first.

Then the cables need to be tied and organized not to be dangling out there. so it takes some time.

I think even professionals would need 1.5~2 hours of work.

For me, it took 5 hours.

The detail of the product is great as the Suzuki products usually do.

I'll talk about the performance in a minute

The switch is water-proof and even has a LED indicator

Obviously, the switch indicator turns on when it's on and I like it.

It's got water-proofing cover on it.

About the wiring, everything felt rights. Right length. No modification was needed.

I was looking at other after-market products initially because of lack of information on this OEM product.

So, I'm making this.

Here's the V-Strom's lighting system.

Nothing at all (all lights off)

Low beam

High beam

Low beam with the LED Fog Light

What do I say.... comfortable feeling?

The default lighting system without any addition is just superior.

LED Fog Light adds extra brightness on the front area.

Also gives extra coverage around the bike

As you can see here, the fog light covers the bottom area where the main headlight doesn't cover

Fog light goes off automatically when High Beam is on.

I think the reason why it's designed that way is to prevent too much of electricity use which could overload the battery

Because this bike keeps the low beam on with the high beam, so when high beam is selected it already drains quite a bit of batter power, so adding Fog Light there could overload the battery.

That's my thought though.

Also they might thought that fog light won't be that practical and necessary when the high beam is needed.

In overall, the added lighting from the fog light gives a bit more of comfortable feeling.

Rather than saying it dramatically improves the visibility

The default lighting system already gives enough lighting. It's one of the things I love about this bike.

Then the fog light adds up some extra brightness there.

It's not like those crazy bright after-market fog lights that comes with an warning saying don't use in street.

I think this OEM is designed to work within the legal regulation everywhere.

It's 8W each, Total of 16 watts. It'll draw little more than 1 ampere.

Actually, the bigger reason for me was not only for lighting enhancement but to help other drivers to identify me more easily.

I think letting car drivers know this is motorcycle encourages them to pay more attention there by the human nature.

It's more comfortable especially when taking the corners.

But the lighting performance feels not that greatly strong as I initially expected.

I think this wraps up my review

Hope this was helpful. Don't forget to give it a thumbs-up.

I'll see you on my next video. Thank you for watching. I'm Steve.
