Hey guys, today we've got this Porsche Boxster in the shop.
As you can see the wheels are covered in road grime and brake dust.
Brake dust is highly corrosive and can actually penetrate the surface and start deteriorating
the finish.
So I'll use some Diablo Wheel Gel and one of our new wheel brushes to take care of this.
Over here, I've already set up my wheel bucket.
I've placed a Dirt Trap inside of it to reduce as much of the filth getting back on the surface
and I've already loaded it up with some Diablo Wheel Gel.
Before we get started I'm going to rinse off this wheel to knock down as much of the loose
grime and debris as we can.
Now that I'm done rinsing off the rim I've knocked off as much of the loose brake dust
as I can, I've also activated my foam in the wheel bucket.
I'll reach for my Easy Reach Wheel Detailing Brush, this is a soft bristle brush which
is safe for OEM rims like these, painted rims or other sensitive surfaces.
You can also use it on stainless steel exhaust tips or billet grills that have hard areas
to get in between.
The low profile design of the brush helps get in between spokes and smaller areas while
taking off hard to reach grime.
It follows the same design as our Show Car Premium Detailing Brush.
This is a more aggressive brush that is intended for heavier caked on brake dust or carbon
build up in exhaust tips, it's just a really easy brush to use to take off any stubborn grime.
To start off I'll dunk my brush in the bucket and get it loaded up with foam.
The Diablo Wheel Gel helps emulsify and brake dust and it encapsulates it then suspends
it so I won't scratch the wheel as we detail it.
I'll start at the highest point this is because whenever you do any detailing it is best to
start at the highest point this way you don't bring dirt on areas that you've already cleaned.
The long design of the brush gets all the way to the back of the barrel and this way
when you look inside of the rim, you're not going to see brake dust, just clean perfect rim.
So after breaking down most of the loose brake dust and debris I'm going to move to a smaller brush.
This is our Goat Boar's Hair Brush, it's designed to get in the smaller more intricate areas
like between the spokes and lug nuts.
You can work it all the way down and get the hard to reach brake dust out for a perfectly clean rim.
As you see the Boar's Hair Brush works nicely to get around valve stems, in between lug
nuts and intricate areas.
As a last step I'm going to clean the tire and the face of the rim using one brush.
This is our Green Flagged Tip Brush, it is super soft and it is going to take off any
last residue or cleaners without scratching the surface.
Since the face is obviously the most noticeable area of the wheel we want to take our time
cleaning so that you get the whole before and after effect of the clean wheel.
Now that I've got this wheel looking right, I'm going to move on to the remaining three
and then we're going to jump on the exhaust which has some carbon build up and then we
can utilize our Show Car Premium Detailing Brush.
So I've just finished all four wheels and now I'm going to start on the exhaust tips.
Like I mentioned it has this carbon build up that is taking away from the overall finish
of the vehicle.
So using our Premium Show Car Detailing Brush I'll grab a little bit of Diablo Wheel Gel.
The foam is helping me clean the surface while emulsifying any contaminants
this way it doesn't scratch.
Just slide it into the tail pipe and you can see it has all this filth and run off that
is really gross but it is worth it for the overall appeal of the vehicle.
Alright guys, now the wheels and exhaust are looking right.
As you can see they look really nice and fresh.
You may have noticed I was using a black towel and that is because I've designated these
for areas that get really dirty like rims and exhaust tips.
You can tell that even though this is a black towel there is all this filth and I wouldn't
want to wipe this on the rest of the vehicle or on the interior.
So if you designate your towels it helps from making a mess later on down the road.
Now, I was using the Easy Reach Wheel Brush to clean off the rims and that safely removed
all the brake dust and contaminants without scratching.
Back here, I was using the Show Car Premium Detailing Brush which took care of any of
that stubborn caked on carbon and it got these exhaust tips looking really nice.
