This RedRock 4X4 stubby front bumper with stinger and winch mount is for those of you

that have a 2007 and up JK, and are looking for a stubby bumper that has this styling

and this functionality.

Getting this installed is gonna be a one-out-of-three-wrench installation that shouldn't take you more

than hour.

Now, originally, a stinger had a very important purpose when you're off-road, and it still

can if you're doing some really hardcore wheeling.

The purpose of a stinger was that, when you're coming down off of an obstacle, if there's

a chance that you might roll forward, the stinger would hit the ground first, and then

push you to one side or the other, keeping you on the tires.

Or, in the event that you did roll over, the stinger would hold the weight of the Jeep

up so you wouldn't crush your radiator, and you could fire the vehicle back up again and

keep running for the rest of the day.

Most of today's stingers, this one included, is more of an aesthetic piece than anything

else.

This does have some gussets on it, but it's not gonna be strong enough to keep you from

flipping over forward, or to support the weight of your Jeep in the event of a rollover.

Again, this is going to be more of an aesthetic thing, but as I said, that is the case for

most of the stingers that you'll find on the market today.

This bumper is also going to have a couple of other features that I really do like.

It comes with some recovery points, a nice short stinger bumper, giving you that aggressive

off-road styling.

And because it's from RedRock 4X4, a company known for making a quality product at a low

price, this is only gonna come in at $400, which is very fair.

This bumper is made of 5/32-inch steel, and covered in a two-stage black powder coat finish.

The stinger itself is going to be 2-inch in diameter, .12 inch wall thickness steel.

So again, this is going to be very well-built.

It's gonna have a very solid coating on it.

It's gonna help to resist rust and corrosion, and keep it looking good for a good long time.

As far as features go, as I said before, it does have the stinger, which is more of an

aesthetic mod than anything else.

You do have two recovery points, and this does come with the D-rings.

It's just one less thing you have to remember to buy.

This version does have the winch mount with a spot for your fair lead right up front that'll

allow you to mount up to a 12,000-pound winch right on this bumper.

The holes that you see along the bottom here are for a little bit of weight reduction and

for styling.

This bumper does not have a spot to mount your factory fog lights or any other auxiliary

lights, however, it does have a couple of holes in the corners here that could be used

for mounting some lights if you chose to do so.

Now, one of the main benefits of a very short stinger bumper like this is that, if you're

running a very large 37-inch tire, you're not going to have any clearance issues with

a bumper like this.

This bumper, even though it is a stinger, is already very short and just a little bit

wider than the frame rails.

It also has some cutouts on the corner area here, giving you just that little bit of additional

clearance.

So if you have some adjustable control arms, if you've pushed your axles out a little bit,

you're still gonna have clearance.

You're not gonna have any issues with this bumper.

Getting this installed is gonna be a one-out-of-three-wrench installation that shouldn't take you more

than an hour.

The first step is, of course, removing that factory bumper, which you'll do by unclipping

the fog light wiring harness, and finally, removing the eight nuts that are holding that

factory bumper in place before just giving it a pull to remove it.

The next step is installing your new bumper, which you will do by lifting it over the frame

horns of your Jeep and using the included hardware to get it bolted into place.

Now, I do recommend that, if you're mounting a winch on this bumper, to install the winch

on the bumper on the ground, then lift the whole package onto the Jeep.

It's much easier to get to those winch mounting bolts when this is on the ground, versus when

it's installed on the Jeep, but the process is completely up to you.

If you do mount the winch onto the bumper first, you have an 88-pound bumper, plus the

weight of the winch.

It's gonna be quite heavy.

Even though this is a small stinger, you're gonna wanna have an extra set of hands around

to help you get this bolted up.

Redrock 4X4 is known for making a high-quality piece at a budget price, and the fact that

this comes in at right around $400, I do think is a really good price.

You're getting a pretty decent hunk of steel here.

This is going to offer some good protection, it's gonna offer some good looks, and it's

also gonna be functional with the winch mount and the D-ring mounts.

And at $400, I do think this is a good value.

So if you're looking for a stubby stinger bumper with a winch mount, I definitely recommend

taking a look at this one from Redrock 4X4, that you can find right here at extremeterrain.com.

Upcoming Jeep Wrangler pickup will be called the Scrambler, get diesel power - Duration: 3:55.

Upcoming Jeep Wrangler pickup will be called the Scrambler, get diesel power

You didn't think they were just going to go with "Jeep Wrangler Pickup," did you?.

OK, maybe you did. Maybe we did, too. But according to information obtained by the enthusiasts at the Jeep Scrambler Forum, Scrambler is exactly what this eagerly anticipated truck will be called.

(Note that none of this is official, but also note that the Scrambler Forum's sister site, the JL Wrangler Forums, has been spot-on with its predictions so far.).

The Wrangler-based pickups name recalls the original CJ-8 Scrambler, a long-wheelbase variant of the C-7 built from 1981 to 1986 (though that final year may have been excess 1985 production).

It wasnt meant to compete with the hard-wearing work-oriented pickups available at the time; it was a lifestyle truck for active individuals if there ever was one, and we dont expect the new one to be much different.

As with the CJ-7 it was based on, it got a removable top; likewise, the new Scrambler gets two removable three-piece hardtop options -- one black, one body-color -- as well as a black Sunrider soft top.

RUMORMILL  Gallery: Here are your Jeep Wrangler pickup renderings  .

RUMORMILL  Chinese automaker Great Wall wants to buy Jeep Chinese automaker Great Wall Motor Co. told Automotive News it is interested in buying the Jeep brand and has reached out to Fiat Chrysler Automobiles to see whether a deal.

Interestingly, CAD files obtained by the forum show a frame with a length of 205 inches. That's 33 inches longer than a current four-door JK Wrangler's frame, which makes it a substantial truck, size-wise.

Unlike the CJ-8, then, the upcoming Scrambler gets four doors, at least at the outset. Complete powertrain details remain something of a mystery, but one engine has been confirmed so far: A 30-liter turbocharged V6 diesel.

The transmission is not specified, but it's connected to a Dana 12-bolt rear axle, an uprated upgrade over the eight-bolt Dana 44 found on current Jeeps.

Based on the rendering of the differential cover, it looks suspiciously like the bigger Dana 60. What sort of towing and payload capacity this new hardware yields remains to be seen.

Reports of a Jeep Wrangler pickup have been floating around for years, but this thing -- the Scrambler -- seems like its finally happening. We expect to see it before the end of the year, likely at the Los Angeles auto show. .

Will the new Scrambler get suitably rad decal packages? Only time will tell.
