Hi! On my table you can see 1h 2019 flagship.
42096 set is a scale copy of Porsche 911 RSR.
I've bought it via bricklink site.
Bricklink allows to buy both new and old sets.
It's not difficult to use bricklink. You should just register on this site and register in paypal system.
I foresee many dislikes under this video because I'm not a fan of this model.
This set is nice for Porsche fans.
You can put the model to your shelf if you like it.
Also this set has many useful parts.
Unfortunately the set has no interesting mechanisms.
Let's take a look to the parts.
I'd like to mark three parts categories: parts for car, black panels and white parts.
The set contains 15 black connectors.
Also you can see red pins with ball joint.
Here we can see steering arms, links, gear rack, shock absorbers, wheel hubs, CV-joints, universal joints.
Six cylinders, steering wheel, differential gear and some other gears.
I'm not sure that two curved gear racks can be useful.
There are many frames in this set.
The model has usual wheels without offset.
It would be cool to get white wheels.
Tires diameter is 68,8 mm.
You can see many black panels.
This arc is new part in Lego.
It's a shame that arcs are printed, prints are different and arcs are printed askew.
This part is two studs smaller than the arc from 42056 set.
The profile is similar.
I don't like prints.
You can see 3x7 white panels like in 42092 set.
I'm glad to see these 3x13 panels in white color.
The set contains a few other white panels.
There are some white beams here.
Flex axles: 19L, 12L, 7L.
Also you can see many white connectors including #4 connector and pin+hole connector.
This set has one red #3 connector.
The building process is rather boring.
There were many similar sets with similar building: 42029, 42037, 42039, 42077.
The building instruction has some typos.
Here some parts are drawn before they are added.
On the second typo wrong pins are marked.
The set contains two sheets of stickers.
Too many stickers to my mind.
I won't place them. I don't want to clear the glue after these stickers.
I think the 42096 set looks nice even without stickers.
The stickers copies the painting of the original car.
The gaps near wheels look too big.
And I don't like front lights. They should be improved.
The model looks much better than 42077 set.
I think price difference between 42096 and 42077 sets isn't proportional.
So I like the design. The weak point of this model is its functions.
The car has RWD with six cylinder piston engine.
It's difficult to see it – only a part of crankshaft.
Steering wheel is working, but the model has no HoG.
It's very inconvenient.
We can open the door.
The final function is suspension.
The model touches the surface when springs are compressed.
I don't understand why Lego don't develop car functions.
Brakes, door locks, adaptive aerodynamic elements could be added.
This car has wiper but it moves in wrong direction.
Let's summarize review.
It is shelf model. "Dust collector" :)
It's almost impossible to play with it.
It looks nice.
There are some useful parts here – white panels first of all.
If you need only suspension parts – it's much cheaper to buy 42077 set.
The car is deadly simple. No interesting mechanisms, no interesting functions.
