the 1941 Ford GP there are four thousand four hundred and fifty-eight of these
built it used a Ford 9N tractor engine as a four cylinder L head motor
it had 45 horsepower and 84 foot-pounds of torque and this is the only one that
was a hand cranking motor the Ford GP has a Spicer 25 front axle
it has a rectangular front crossmember and a one-piece steering rod the grille
is a slat grille with the headlights actually inside the grill you can see
that the transmission and the parking brake are in the same area on the
floorboard the bucket seats are metal with canvas cushions and as a rear
tubular backseat you can also see the protruding machine gun mount which will
be standard on the later MB's and the GPW's for world war ii all of this is
on an 80 inch wheelbase and a kerb weight of two thousand one hundred and
fifty pounds it has a two-speed Spicer 18 transfercase and a three-speed Ford
GP 7000 transmission there's the pintle hook and the bumperettes another thing
that I thought was interesting is that as a protruding rear blackout light the
GP has a Spicer 23 - 2 rear axle with a 4.88 gear ratio and leaf spring
suspension this is a ford script jeep because of this embossing right here
and it does have 16-inch solid state wheels and NDT tires the storage bins
are in the rear wheel wells of the Ford GP and you can see that the lids are the
emboss type which will later be used in the GPWS
on the dash of the GP you can see the Ford truck instrument cluster that used
and the data plates the foot pedals are round and the steering column bracket
sticks out a lot further than most of the other prototypes under the left hand
side of the 4gp you can see that it has a long rectangular skid plate leaf
spring suspension and there's the steering gearbox
and lastly it does have a two-piece forward pivoting windshield with one
manual hand wiper at the top
