Riparazione Cofano Jeep Cj7 - "Hood Repair" PART - 3# - Duration: 14:32.hi guys, welcome back to the channel
in this third video I will show you how we adjusted the hood of my Cj7
I will give you some advice to reinforce it and make it like the original one
I remind you that my bonnet was an aftermarket
I'll show you the differences by comparing them with the original one of my wife's Cj7
I will start by illustrating the procedure performed to bring back to new
in the first video I showed you the damage, which consisted of a fold that crossed the entire hood
the most damaged part was the central crowning that had been turned inwards
for this reason the bonnet had lost its rigidity
every time I opened the hood, it tended to twist from one side
the first procedure to repair it was the beating of the sheet
the typing consists in bringing out all the bent parts of the bonnet sheet
especially the side parts and the central bonnet crowning
bringing these parts of the bonnet back into square, the thinner panels will regain their rigidity
we brought the bonnet back into position, taking the Jeep body and the front grille as a reference
after having centered the bonnet we have disassembled it and brought it into the bodywork for painting
before going to painting there is a very important thing that I would like to show you
or what differentiates an original bonnet from an aftermarket
the big difference between the two bonnets is their rigidity
now he will show you the differences using these two bonnets
at first glance these two bonnets may look identical
but there are some particular points that make a bonnet better than the other
the aftermarket hood is much lighter and more flexible and we can see it when we open it to work on the engine
when the bonnets are opened the original one will stay aligned with the body while the aftermarket one will tend to twist on one side
this is caused by some points of the bonnet that are more firmly between them and they are stiffer
now I will show you the two different parts up close and I will explain how I got this result using an aftermarket bonnet
the aftermarket bonnet costs half of an original bonnet ... at least here in Europe "Italy"
the aftermarket bonnet costs half of an original bonnet ... at least here in Europe "Italy"
if you have not yet identified, I will show you soon!
inside both hoods there is this "C" sheet
this component keeps in shape and from rigidity to the thinnest part of the bonnet
in the original bonnet this part is punched together with the sheet metal
after fixing it is stuccoed and painted
while in the aftermarket hoods that are visually identical
while on the original bonnets these two parts are joined with the foam that does not attack the components but only eliminates the vibrations
when I open the hood, the foam does not stop the components and consequently makes it twist
the same thing also happens in the upper part
while in the side parts the bonnets are the same with a "C" bend
this bending gives a bit of rigidity
as you can see on the original bonnet this part is much closer
as you can see on the original bonnet there is no space between the various parts, so everything is more solid
now you will wonder how I got this result, which is a much firmer aftermarket hood
I took advantage of it because the bonnet was folded, and the two swords had opened up to the point of being able to insert even a hand
the moment we brought the bonnet back to its original shape,
on the inside instead of the foam "as in the aftermarket model" we have used a body sealer.
the sealant for car bodies is like a black colored silicone which, once applied, makes a strong glue effect and joins the two body parts
as you can see I have applied it sometimes over the whole surface and sheet metal
this sheet was originally combined with two three foam points
the same procedure I have adopted on the sides of the bonnet and on the front where there is the attachment for storing the bonnet rod
using this method you can get this good result
boys!!! even if these seem small details, they actually make the difference between a well done job and a mediocre one
after giving the bonnet the right solidity and obtained a homogeneous result without bumps
we have finished all those imperfect metal points due to hammering
the next step (as you will see in the pictures) is to cover the bonnet with an eposidic bottom
the epoxy primer can be of different shades of gray depending on the manufacturer's brand, the latter has two functions ...
the first task is to create a protective layer on the sheet metal to avoid the formation of rust
the second task of the epoxy primer is to create a smooth surface to then apply the paint
we can use it as a sort of spray putty
spray putty is a product that has different characteristics
but we can use the epoxy primer as a filler to fill all those small imperfections of the metal, passing various layers and sanding well between one and the other
with this product we can go to correct only small imperfections
I advise you to wait a few days before moving on to the final painting, to allow time for the base to dry well
if we are not in a hurry and wait for the right time the final result will be better!
all these tricks are for an excellent result
after having slammed, stuccoed and polished the bonnet remains only the final stage, ie painting
painting can be done in two ways
we can use a direct gloss paint or a double layer paint, with a colored base and a layer of strasparent to cover
to paint our Jeep I suggest you use the double layer
if we go off-road in wooded areas and the paint is scratched we can go to levicare the transparent using an abrasive paste
logically, only if it is a small scratch, otherwise if the scratch will be deep and the colored base will be affected, the painting will be compromised and will have to be redone
another piece of advice that I wanted to give you regards the choice of color
as you saw in the previous videos I painted only the bonnet and the tailgate
the rest of the Jeep had been painted a year ago!
even if I produced the paint using a tintometer, the paint color was slightly different
there are two solutions .....
the first solution consists in contacting an expert coachbuilder who, by doing tests, corrects the color and makes it identical to that of your Jeep
the second solution consists in using a scanner that decodes the color and gives you a new formula to recreate the right color non-color
these solutions are valid both for a painted medium recently, but it is even more useful to reproduce the right color tone of an old Jeep
for this week it's all, I hope I have remembered all the advice I wanted to give you!
this series of videos does not end there, but there will be a new video about the graphics.
I will not tell you anything else ... if you want to know more, subscribe to my channel!
and if this vidie you liked give me a like
if you have any questions you can ask me in the comments, I will be happy to answer all of you!
goodbye!!! 👍🏻

Jeep Wrangler OPR Replacement Front Wheel Bearing and Hub Assembly (1999-2006 TJ) Review - Duration: 3:54.This OPR Replacement Front Wheel Bearing and Hub Assembly is for those of you that have
a 1999 to 2006 TJ that need to replace your bearing or your hub and want something that
is going to be all one piece here.
You can of course by a wheel bearing, but then you're pressing an old bearing out, pressing
the new one in.
For the cost of this entire assembly, this is the way to go.
I've replaced them on my TJ.
This is definitely going to be a lot easier than swapping out the bearing itself, so I
definitely recommend going with an option like this.
Do make sure that you get the right year range hub assembly for your TJ.
From '99 and up is going to be this one.
There is going to be another one for the older TJs.
They did change things up a little bit.
You'll know that if you changed out the front brake rotors on your TJ, those are going to
be a little bit of a different depth, so just make sure everything coincides with the year
of your Jeep or at least the year of the axle that's under your Jeep if you've done an axle
swap.
Make sure everything is going to work very well together.
So, this is going to be something that is going to be pretty easy to install.
I'm gonna give it a two out of three wrenches because it's a little bit involved, but overall
a lot simpler than pressing a bearing in and out and is going to still be very much a bolt-on
installation.
One of the hardest parts about this whole process is getting the old hub off of the
end of the axle, but there's a little bit of a trick to that as well that we'll get
to.
Give yourself probably an hour or more per side when you're doing this because, again,
there is some disassembly, there's some reassembly.
You want to be able to take your time with this.
But we will talk more about the installation in just a second.
So like I said, this is going to be the way to go if you have a bad wheel bearing.
Get the whole hub assembly, much, much easier to install.
Now, if you're particular about the type of bearing used in your hub assembly, there are
some manufacturers out there that will say "We use Timken bearings.
We use this bearing, that bearing."
OPR doesn't have any information on specifically what type of bearing is in here, but OPR makes
a high-quality piece.
This is going to be something that will hold up pretty well for you and is going to work
very, very nicely and is also going to be a direct replacement.
It is going to be one of the less expensive hubs out there for you.
So, you know, if you want something that is one of those premium brand bearings and you
want to spend a little bit more money, you have a little bit of a higher budget, those
options are out there.
You're looking for something a little bit less expensive that's still going to be quality,
this is going to be a nice choice.
As for construction, not a lot to say about this thing.
It's going to be very similar to your factory hub assembly.
It comes with the bearing installed and it's got all of your seals, it's got all of your
wheel studs installed.
Everything is there for you, you really just have to pop the old unit off and install the
new one.
This is going to be a strong two-out-of-three-wrench installation.
There is a good bit of disassembly of the front axle necessary in order to get this
installed, so not all of you are going to want to tackle this in your driveway.
But if you do, the first step is going to be to removing the tires and the brake system
completely.
That will allow you to pull the axle shaft out of the way, then you can go ahead and
unbolt the hub assembly, install your new one and reverse the installation by installing
the axle, the brakes, and finally the tire.
I mention this is going to be one of the less expensive options that your gonna find for
an entire hub assembly.
These ones come in at just over $50, which again, pretty good deal.
Pretty expensive.
If you want one of those premium brand bearings, those options are out there.
They are gonna cost you a little bit more, but this is still going to be a very high-quality
option at a low price.
So, if you have a bad wheel bearing, you want to swap out the whole hub because it's so
much easier than pressing bearings in and out, I definitely recommend taking a look
at this option from OPR.
And you can find it right here at extremeterrain.com.

Jeep Wrangler TruShield FullShade Top (1997-2006 TJ) Review & Install - Duration: 3:51.This TruShield FullShade top is for those of you that have a 1997 to 2006 TJ, and are
looking for a way to have that open air driving experience, but also to knock a little bit
of that sun off of the head and shoulders of both you and your backseat passengers.
This is going to be a one out of three wrench installation that you'll be able to get done
in about 15 minutes or less.
And every time you install this and uninstall it, you are just going to get that much faster
with it.
Now, there are going to be quite a few mesh tops out there on the market and a lot of
them are going to be pretty similar to this one in both build, function, and in price.
This is going to be a well-built option.
It's going to install without the need for a header.
It doesn't wrap around your support cage.
So it's not going to interfere with your soft top or hard top.
You can have this installed with either of those tops in place.
And it is just going to get the job done, taking a little bit of the sun's rays off
of you and your passengers, while still giving you that open air driving experience.
Now, this is going to be a little bit less expensive than some of those premium mesh
tops.
Those premium mesh tops are going to install a little bit differently.
They are not going to have the same bungee cords that can eventually stretch out or you
can lose them if you're not careful, and they are going to have a little bit of a higher
build quality.
So if you have a higher budget, you plan on running this year-round or you want something
that's going to last a very, very long time, then one of those other options might be a
little bit better.
But if you are going to be using this a little bit more sporadically, if you are on a little
bit of a tighter budget, this is still going to be a very nice option.
This is made from a woven PVC covered polyester material.
It's going to have an additional reinforcement around the outside of it.
And that's where all of your holes are going to be punched and riveted into it.
And these are going to have a metal rivet.
So to keep anything from tearing or stretching out as you have it installed.
Up front here, you can see it does have two zippered pockets.
This one has all of your bungee cords in it right out of the box.
And it's a really good idea every time you uninstall this from your Jeep, to put those
bungee cords back into that zippered pocket again.
So you're not going to lose them.
Overall, this is going to be a pretty well-built mesh top.
It is going to hold up pretty well for you, and it is going to offer protection from both
the front and the rear seat passengers in your TJ.
So again, for installation, definitely one out of three wrenches, less than 15 minutes.
This is going to install with all of those bungee cords onto the support cage of your
Jeep.
And you are going to want to start toward the front of the Jeep, hooking this small
carabiner onto the equipment loop.
That is at the top center of your windshield frame.
From there, you use your bungee cords starting at the front, working your way to the back,
wrapping them around the support cage as you go.
And that's it.
Like I said, you can install this once and leave it installed underneath your hard top
or your soft top.
Or you can always uninstall it, fold it up nice and small, tuck it inside your Jeep or
in your garage, and reinstall it whenever you need it.
This mesh top will run you right around $100.
Like I said before, it is going to be a moderate price.
There are going to be some other options out there that are going to be pretty similar
to this.
Now, you can always step up to a premium top by either Dirty Dog or J Tops USA.
They are going to attach a little bit differently.
They are not going to use those bungee cords.
They may not flap as much.
You're going to have some different designs, a little heavier duty material.
But again, you're going to pay more money.
As far as a top that's designed like this one is there are a couple of different options.
I think this one is very affordably priced and very fairly priced for what you're getting.
So if you are looking for a mesh top to give you that open air driving experience but also
a little bit of protection from the sun's rays, I definitely recommend taking a look
at this option from TruShield.
And you can find it right here at extremeterrain.com.

Jeep Wrangler Rugged Ridge Jack Roll Bar Mounting Bracket (1992-2018 YJ, TJ, JK) Review - Duration: 3:34.The Rugged Ridge off-road jack roll bar mounting bracket is for those of you that have a 1992
and up Wrangler, that are looking for a spot to mount that off-road style or farm style
jack inside your vehicle.
Those jacks can come in handy depending on the type of terrain that you wheel in.
If you find yourself needing one, you want to have it with you when you're out on the
trail, you have to have it mounted somewhere.
A lot of people choose to mount them on the outside of the vehicle just because they take
up a lot of space on the interior, and that's fine, but then they're exposed to the weather.
If you would rather have yours mounted on the inside of the vehicle, you're okay with
it taking up a little bit of your cargo space, then this is going to be a really nice bracket.
Those jacks are big and they're heavy, and if you're going to have it on the inside of
your vehicle, you need to make sure that it's secured.
Whether you were to get into an accident on-road or off-road, you definitely don't want one
of these off-road jacks flying around on the interior of your vehicle, so having it nice
and securely attached is definitely important.
And as far as options of where to attach it, there aren't going to be a ton of them.
So, this is going to attach onto that sport cage in the back.
You can easily pop open the tailgate of the Jeep, reach in, use the wing nuts to disconnect
it from the brackets, use it when you need it, and pop it right back into place when
you don't.
This bracket itself is going to install very easily onto your Jeep, definitely a one-out-of-three
wrench bolt-on installation.
Probably a half-hour or less to get this bolted in.
And then, like I said, the jack itself is going to attach to these with just some wing
nuts, but we'll talk more about that installation in just a second.
As for the construction of this mounting bracket, I do think that it's very well thought out.
You can see that there are sections of the bracket that are rounded out.
That's where it's actually going to make contact with that round sport cage.
Those pieces do have some padding on them, so you're not going to end up with any sort
of scratching or chafing on the paint of your sport cage.
The U-bolts here that, again, go around that sport cage are rubber coated.
You have the same thing over here on the other side of the bracket that goes on the opposite
side of the Jeep.
And you are going to have all of the hardware that you need to attach the jack onto the
bracket, and that's all going to be quick disconnect hardware.
That's all going to be wing nuts, making it very easy to get the jack installed and uninstalled
from the bracket, so when you do need it, you can pull it out easily and get it put
back.
As for the installation, again, one out of three wrenches, probably half an hour or less.
All you'll need to do is hold the one bracket up to the sport cage, use the U-bolt and the
included nut and bolt hardware to get it bolted down, attach the other side to the other side
of the sport cage, and finally take your jack in the middle and attach it with, again, the
included hardware and the wing nuts.
This bracket's going to come in at right around $100.
And to some of you, because it's only a couple of pieces, it comes in a pretty small box,
$100 might seem high, but I think for the quality of build, you're actually getting
a lot for your money here.
I also consider what it would cost me in time and materials, even if I had the fab skills
to build something like this, and all of a sudden, it does become worth the cost.
If you want to carry a jack, if you want to carry it on the inside of your vehicle, you
need to have it secured down, and for that, I really do like this bracket, and I think
it's fairly priced.
So, if you're looking for a bracket to securely mount your off-road jack on the interior of
your Wrangler, I definitely recommend taking a look at this bracket from Rugged Ridge,
and you can find it right here at extremeterrain.com.
