Hello everybody, good morning, good day, and good afternoon! I don't know which
time of day you're gonna be watching this but welcome to the first official
day of "Follow the Star." I was really excited about that until I realized that
I'm gonna have to clean it up...so yeah. Anyways, that was kind of fun. You never
really get to throw confetti and stuff. I'm pumped, so excited guys. This is
gonna be one of my favorites because I'm all about the Old Testament prophets and
what....it is just one of the most amazing things to sit there and read
throughout the Old Testament, all these crazy things that these men and women
spoke that Jesus fulfilled. Like legit, ONLY JESUS could do that. So today we are
gonna kick it off with the prophetic genealogy of Jesus Christ. Now don't get
freaked out and think that I'm going like super hardcore.
I'm gonna be super fast because I'm trying to keep all these videos pretty
short for you guys because I know, ain't nobody got time for that, but we can
actually see pretty quickly in the scriptures...I mean basically in Genesis
is when it kicks off. We have seven prophecies about the genealogy of Jesus
and I'm not going to go into every single one of them because a lot of them
piggyback right on the other. I mean when you have a dad, a son, and then his son...
yeah, obviously that's going to continue the lineage but we are going to kick it
off in Genesis 9:26. In Genesis 9:26 it is talking right after the
flood. This is when Noah and his sons and his family are basically repopulating
the earth, you know no big deal, just a few responsibilities. It says
blessed be the Lord the God of Shem and let Cain be his servant. What I
thought was cool is it mentions that he... that basically Jesus is going to come
from the Shemite branch of humanity. Which Shem, is one of the...I believe it's
one of the first sons that is mentioned with Noah that basically that
lineage is what led to Jesus Christ. Then we see that Jesus is going to come through
through Abraham, through Abraham and Sarai or Sarah, however you remember
her. He's gonna come through his lineage through a cherished son that he's
gonna have by his wife. They had been struggling to have kids...if you've never
read that story, I encourage you to go check it out around Genesis 12.
You'll be able to see the story of Abraham and Sarah and Ishmael and Isaac.
Abraham and Sarah eventually have a son named Isaac and that is actually
mentioned in one of the prophecies in Genesis 17 about how Jesus was going to
come through the lineage of Isaac. Then Isaac has a son and Isaac's son's
name is Jacob and Jacobs story can be found in Genesis 28-ish kind of in and
around that area. So there you have Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. So we're not
going to get super nitty-gritty into those. Then we see that the Lord is
going to be coming through the tribe of Judah. This is what's pretty cool is...
Genesis 49:8 is where that can be found and if you aren't familiar with Judah or
the Lion of the tribe of Judah...I know that there's lots of people that have
heard that phrase but don't really know what it means. I'm gonna elaborate on
that the deeper into this study we get but if you're just a little curious and
can't wait, I encourage you to go online and check it out. There's a lot of really
neat aspects to that. Then continuing on in that genealogical prophecy kind of
trend that we see throughout the Old Testament, we go into Isaiah 11. Jesus is
gonna come through the family of Jesse. I know these are probably a bunch of
names that you really aren't sure or that you know really well. I don't
know your Bible knowledge, but I'm gonna let you know I am not the best with
names or locators...but...I am awesome with getting pumped about the Word of God so
there's that. Jeremiah 23, that's the final prophecy we're gonna look at, at least
for today in terms of the genealogical prophecy of Jesus. Jeremiah 23, it's...
I'm reading to you guys from the Message version because this is, I just love the
way that it's written. This is talking about how Jesus is going to come
through the house of David and it says, "Times coming" - God's decree - "when I'll
establish a truly righteous David-branch, a ruler who knows how to rule justly.
He'll make sure of justice and keep people united. In his time Judah will be
secure again and Israel will live in safety. This is the name they'll give him:
'God-Who-Puts-Everything-Right.'
I'm gonna leave it there today, the 'God-Who-Puts-Everything-Right.'
This is where it's so cool, because the very first book of
the Gospels is Matthew. Matthew 1:1-17 is where we actually get to
see the fulfillment of all of these Old Testament genealogical prophecies. I'm
not going to read it to you, but I'm hoping that you guys can at least see
this. It's literally like okay, like where are we? He'll be right here. This entire
section is nothing but this crazy genealogy. I mean it breaks it down more
Ahaz the father of Hezekiah, Hezekiah the fact the father of Manasseh,
and Manasseh the father of Amos. You can read through it
and you can actually do your little graph and spell it all out. What I
want to encourage you guys with today, is seeing that there is literally so much
strategy and purpose to those that came before us, to the family that we have, to
the family that we have all the way back 10 generations, all the way back to
creation. I literally realized I just had confetti
on my shoulder. There is so much to those who came before us and foreran
and pioneered the purpose God put on our lives because without them we would not
be here without what they went through. We would not be able to pursue the
destiny God has for us. We're gonna see that unfold a little bit tomorrow.
I hope you guys are severely blessed today on this beautiful December 1st!
