Introducing the SM324--the world's first smart TMR magnetometer - Duration: 3:49.

♪ Control ♪

Hello.

Today we're demonstrating the revolutionary new

SM324-10E Smart TMR Magnetometer.

This device combines the precision of Tunneling Magnetoresistance

with sophisticated Digital Signal Processing.

The evaluation kit has a demo board, and

a powerful, intuitive graphic user interface.

The kit comes with a small magnet.

As we move the magnet closer,

the digital output turns on, as indicated by the red LED.

The threshold can be set via the sensor's I²C interface.

It can detect strong magnets more than 150 millimeters away.

And it detects polarity.

The SM324 can also be used as a noncontact current sensor.

When we run a current

through the trace on the demo board,

we can see the sensor output on the computer.

Here the sensor digital output-- the red LED--turns on,

indicating overcurrent, which we set to 75% of full scale,

or about four amps.

the digital output threshold can be adjusted

on the "Settings" tab of the user interface.

There's a "Memory" tab

that lets us look at the sensor memory,

and a "Comm/I²C" tab to configure communications.

At 300 samples per second, it's fast enough

to monitor a DC motor like this windshield washer pump.

We have a simulated washer fluid tank.

As we increase the voltage to the motor,

the current increases.

Suppose we run out of fluid, the hose kinks,

or the outflow's plugged.

The current decreases.

We've set an inverted threshold so the the red LED goes on

when there's a fault.

The demo board has:

• the sensor element

over a current-carrying trace;

• an LED showing the digital threshold output;

• there's a microcontroller to interface

from the sensor I²C to USB to connect to a computer;

• an isolated power supply-- external or USB powered;

• and connectors.

The SM324 sensor has:

• a TMR sensor element;

• an 18-bit ADC with 24-bit calculations;

• second-order linearization;

• a calibrated temperature sensor and temperature compensation;

• nonvolatile calibration memory;

• an I²C interface; and

• a digital threshold output.

SM324 features and specifications include:

• 0 to ±20 Oe magnetic field operating range,

so it can detect magnets more than 50 mm away;

• accuracy of ±0.3% of full scale;

• an I²C interface to connect to almost any microcontroller;

• 300 samples/second conversion rate;

• wide supply range • low supply current

• the full industrial / automotive temperature range;

• and it's ultraminiature

Hello, I am Antoine Huber from Gemalto and in this video

I will give you some insight on how Gemalto can help to overcome some challenges

in IoT Deployment into Smart Buildings.

Smart Building is a great opportunity

but few challenges have to be overcome and I can summarize them as the connectivity among the different devices and

the services,

the security of

all the solutions and

the monetization.

So connectivity first.

Smart building is based on the data collection of different devices and different sensors, that are within the building.

You need to ensure that you can retrieve this data. You need to connect this different devices and

the challenge here is mainly the legacy because we know that the coming deployment of smart building will be made on existing buildings.

How to deploy some new networks at lower cost?

The second aspect is the security.

We are retrieving some data and here we need to ensure the authenticity of the data, the integrity of the data,

we need to ensure also

the privacy of the different data.

So for that, we need to consider an end-to-end security by design.

From the devices

up to the Gateway to the cloud and to the different services that will be based upon all of these datas.

The third point is actually more an opportunity than a challenge,

this is the monetization. Monetization of the data and also shifting the business model from

device to service provider. As part of my Job

I am talking to a lot of customers about deployment of Smart Building technology.

What they value the most is the fact that

Gemalto is able to cover end-to-end solutions.

That thanks to our large portfolio of products and solutions we are able to provide them some

flexibility about these deployments and also the fact that we are leveraging some existing standards

helping them to ensure the interoperability of their services.
