Mini Vada Recipe

Urad Dal

Onion, dry red chillies, Pepper kernels, Salt, Cumin seeds

Suji/Rava

Grind Ural Dal to form a smooth paste

Add salt, red chillies, cumin seeds, pepper kernels, chopped onion to the batter

Add about 5 tbsp of Suji/Semolina/Rava

Mix all the ingredients to form base of the vada

Take 2 cups of water and add a pinch of hing to it

Heat oil in a container

Test by putting a small piece of the vada batter

Wet hand with the hing water and prepare vada as shown

Repeat the same process to make more vadas

Deep fry the vada till they turn golden brown in color

Drain the excess oil from the vada and remove it to a tissue paper

Serve it hot on a plate

The crispy mini vada recipe is now ready!

2.5 gallon torpedo keg

Perfect shape, size, and material to be the shell of a miniature forge!

Removing some unnecessary hardware.

Making the hole slightly larger.

Refining the sharp, jagged edge.

Center punching the stainless steel before drilling.

Drilling small pilot holes first.

Stainless steel is quite hard, so slowly step up the bit size.

Holes on top for the burner hardware.

Holes on bottom for the legs.

Hole in front for the workpiece.

High heat resistant paint.

Letting it cure in the hot Texas sun!

Also coating the inside for good measure.

Electric conduit hardware used to hold the burners in place.

Simple drawer pulls act as legs, keeping the round body of the forge from rolling around.

Outter shell: Done!

Kaowool insulates the forge, keeping the heat from escaping.

Refractory cement will hold the heat evenly throughout the inside of the forge and stabilize the kaowool liner.

Fire it up!

Adding a firebrick port to the front to keep in as much heat as possible.
