Hello I'm Asko and welcome to new episode.
we have few things that we need to do before we can start to install that engine back.
I have installed some new lights.
Bought five those Osram Submarine lamps.
Those ase led lamps and the lightning is much better now.
That one is the old one that I converted it to led.
that's missing one lightbar so I need to buy one.
Lights are white so that's also better.
I dunno should I install one more right above the engine bay
so when we work with the engines it would light it.
But that's that. Let's get back to work.
I planned that I change that drive shaft inner joint.
That has little play on it.
So I ordered new at the same time I ordered other parts.
I don't have any clue how to change it.
Apparently you just take that end cap off and push it out.
Think there is somekind off pin that holds it in place.
That's a new one.
It should contain all the parts thats needed.
And then there is this. That cover needs to come off
and we should change that one
this has little smaller outside than the old but inner diameter is same.
that needs to be welded there
But first we change that.
Just looking the bolts I can tell that new one doesn't fit.
These are 10mm
and these are 8mm.
I just return this back to AutoDoc
and get another one from local parts store.
Lucky I took that AutoDocs 200 days free return
But when we cannot change that joint we continue with this.
I don't know do I have to cut from here to get that cover off.
but first I just bend these and look.
dunno if that''s just a support or something
after that we look into this
That's off
and I accidentally cut too much.
Next we just grid all the old weldings off
and try to get this to fit here.
ok that's done and it fits there.
I Don't know what position I should put it so
prolly we have to install engine back
but before we do that,
we take the rest of the down pipe off.
we have to grind that also.
after that we need to install the engine
so we know how that pipe goes
so these two little things escalated to engine reinstall.
or test fit atleast
That's off and it was quite hard to get it off.
I needed to take that middle section also off.
There was also mount near the prop shaft.
There same kind off rod on the car and that mount was so hard to get off
but now it's off, next we grid it thoroughly
so we get this joined to that section
That's done and there was quite thick welds there
theres still some old welds..
but now it should fit
this will be like so,
but we have to put that engine in first
that we know what postition we should weld those.
that could be quite interesting task
but anyway we have to start taking that front apart.
that's done.
those aircon things need to come aside
and then theres also these power steering pipes
I scaped some rust off and thought I spray those
with underbody rust prevent
but I think I'll leave them be as theres so much rust
that it basically protects it to rust more.
but before we can start to put engine back,
we need to install flywheel, clutch stuff and gearbox.
after that we could test fit it
and start to weld those
next could be quite long timelapse
2 hours later we have completed the flywheel and clutch installation.
I had a little problems to prevent that flywheel from turning when tightening the bolts
Those bolts went to 60nm + 90 degrees
I made this kind of locking mechanism.
I welded piece of pipe to bolt
another piece is just bolted to it.
so that goes between the tooths
..now turn...
anyway
thath locks the flywheel in place...
then we have old pressure plate preventing engine to tilt.
New release bearing is in
and we have to just take that transfer box off.
There is a bolt
I'm not sure how tight it should go.
I read that it is just 25nm,
and it could be right....
As this is what goes there
and there is just 6mm hex on it.
I dunno should it be changed,
but as if it goes to 25nm
I don't think you need to change it.
so thats not a "stretching" one
Other side has also samekind of bolt
we took it away when we took the gearbox off
So I put little lock tight there also
as I'm not 100% sure about to torque
That comes now off
and theres oil inside.
so...
I wouldn't want to change those
but we have to see what those look like
Some has come out already
so either we just add some or change.
I think that holds around 5-6 liters of oil
and oil will cost about 15€/L
Don't remember how much that one was
what I used to Golf.
I still have this like 1.5l,
so maybe if it goes also there,
we'll put this.
Think it's ok,
as that box is quite the same as golf has now.
but anyway let's start to install that gearbox
That was interesting and some oil got out.
Those look pretty damn good :D
well we'll have to change the oil...
I think thats about 1 liter that came out
but when it's in that position it doesn't leak anymore
that was quite a task to do by yourself,
but apparently it can be done..
I'll continue this operation..
We'll end for this time so these episodes won't go monsterous long.
I got that gearbox and that transfer box on.
theres just few bolts that needs to be tightened to specs
I'll do that off camera
so we can start to install that engine on the next episode
and see how that down pipe thingy goes.
But that was it for this time
I'll continue to clean that oil.
I have to get some saw dust
and let it do it's magics.
But anyway bye for now!
