Porsche dials in new 718 Boxster GTS

Regular or high-performance S variant of the new Porsche 718 Boxster not lighting your fire? Well, your feelings towards the freshly flat-four'd roadster might be about to change – because a more powerful, evocative GTS version is in the works.

So, what will be new?.

The Porsche 718 Boxster GTS, rumours of which appeared just prior to the reveal of the conventional Boxster, will follow established GTS trends – that of a mild cosmetic and mechanical reworking, with the aim of making the car quicker and more engaging.

Our sources had previously reported on a more potent GTS derivative, and these latest spy shots appear to show that very version of Porsche's drop-top sports car.

Expect the new GTS to feature minor aero tweaks to improve its downforce, stiffer suspension, a new exhaust system and different wheels.

That reworked exhaust system could be one of the more prominent changes, and may quell some of the ongoing clamour around the flat-four Porsche's somewhat unseemly noise.

The front-end look of the production version will be somewhat different compared to this mule, though; this prototype displays a small spoiler lip at the front as its aero upgrade, but the real deal is expected to get a completely redesigned bumper that will integrate that lip while delivering similar effects.

Absolutely. Porsche's new Boxster GTS will also pack more of a punch, thanks to a likely easily attained – thanks to the use of turbocharging – 25bhp hike in output.

That, if it comes to pass, will bring the Boxster GTS's power to around 375bhp. Previously, a figure of 'at least 365bhp' had been mentioned by our sources.

Manual and PDK versions should be offered, given past GTS trends and the current 718 Boxster line-up. A 718 Cayman GTS is also expected, in keeping with the previous generation. .

When will it go on sale – and how much will it cost?. The new GTS is expected to arrive in the second half of 2017. Previously, the GTS commanded a premium of around £6k over the regular Boxster S.

If that remains the case, then the new 2017 Porsche 718 Boxster GTS will likely cost around £57k in manual form, or £59k if you opt for PDK.

New 2019 Bentley Flying Spur steps out in Porsche fancy dress - Duration: 2:45.

New 2019 Bentley Flying Spur steps out in Porsche fancy dress

Bentley is busy working on the follow-up to its starter limousine, the Flying Spur.

Our spies caught it undergoing winter testing in Scandinavia; this is an engineering mule for the new saloon, based on the running gear and lashed-up bodywork of the new Porsche Panamera. So the Bentley and the Porsche are twinned?.

In the new world order at Wolfsburg, even the most premium of its brands are forced to platform-share now - the new 2019 Bentley Flying Spur and Porsche Panamera use the same underlying architecture.

Called MSB-F, its a rear- and all-wheel drive compliant base for the groups luxury sports saloons, and brings a host of electronic tech, lightweight dieting and autonomous driving systems.

The new shared componentry plan is part of a business overhaul at Bentley, which is targeting 20,000 annual sales by the end of the decade. longer than the Porsche.

This engineering mule has a visibly longer wheelbase; those super-stretched rear doors are in fact temporary plastic items, quickly crafted to fill in the gap.

The Flying Spur is the more luxury-oriented four-door saloon version of the new 2018 Bentley Continental GT range, previously scooped here. The coupe and convertible are likely to launch first, with the Spur after.

All three model ranges will share much of their tech and wardrobe.

Expect to see lashings of Speed 6 concept car style - and we hear the 60-litre W12 engine will continue in addition to V8 power, as Crewe rams home the top-end luxury of even its cheapest cars.

Porsche Cayenne Coupe: meet the hunkered-down, electric SUV - Duration: 3:06.

Porsche Cayenne Coupe: meet the hunkered-down, electric SUV

This is an interesting spot from the wilds of Scandinavian winter testing: another mule for an upcoming Porsche Cayenne Coupe being plotted in Zuffenhausen.

And the tale becomes more interesting. We know that Porsche is considering a coupe-ified, lower crossover to match the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe, BMW X6 and other slammed SUVs.

But its also electric-powered, according to our sources. As evidenced by the EV stickers on this engineering prototype. It crept silently past our spy photographer, suggesting it is either a full electric SUV or a hybrid running in saintly EV mode.

Whichever powertrain, its proof that Porsche is preparing to challenge the growing number of crossover EVs being developed by the worlds premium car makers, desperate to remove the stigma from super-sizing their cars. Porsche Cayenne Coupe: an electric testbed.

This car would therefore target the Tesla Model X, Mercedes planned all-electric EQ soft-roader based on the GLC and upcoming Jaguar EVs wrapped in crossover bodystyles.

CARs insiders at Porsche tell us the car is not yet approved for production, but this long-distance sighting of a test car mule wrapping a Panamera body on SUV running gear suggests the project is forging ahead.

We hear that this hack is an electric version twinned with the forthcoming Audi E-tron. Its not the first time weve spied it; in summer 2016, our spy photos captured it undergoing braking tests in Germany, as they refined the regenerative set-up.

Gas guzzlers? An SUV re-volt, more like. Indeed. Watch out for this growing trend. Tired of SUVs being slated as the devils spawn, car makers are working furiously to clean up the act of their premium 4x4s.

Its no surprise: this is the point at which two market trends - electrification and the rise of the SUV - collide. Electric 4x4s are seemingly The Next Big Thing.

The 2019 Porsche Cayenne: 7 things to know about Porsche's newest SUV - Duration: 2:17.

The 2019 Porsche Cayenne: 7 things to know about Porsche's newest SUV

PORSCHE PLANS TO KEEP THE CAYENNE AT THE TOP OF SALES CHARTS WITH NEW FEATURES AND ENGINES  .

You won't be able to buy a 2019 Porsche Cayenne until halfway through 2018, but Porsche is spilling the beans on two of the V6-powered versions of its popular SUV now (no word yet on Turbo or Hybrid models).

Maybe the increasing competition in the class is forcing Porsche to divulge info early on in order to grab and hold customers attention now before they're tempted to stray to the many offerings of other brands.

Who knows?   Here are seven key things to know about the newest Cayenne: 1. There will be only two Cayenne models available at launch: a single-turbo 340-hp V6 Cayenne and a 440-hp twin-turbo V6 Cayenne S.

The single-turbo model gets to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds if you get the Sport Chrono package, 5.9 seconds without. The twin-turbo does it in 4.6/4.9 seconds.

Dont expect any versions of the new Cayenne to reach U.S. dealerships until "midway through 2018." 3. V6 Cayennes get a new eight-speed Tiptronic transmission that shifts quicker and offers more comfort.

It'll have five modes: on-road, mud, gravel, sand and rocks. 4. There will be a lot of aluminum in its structure.

Porsche says the new chassis is 143 pounds lighter thanks to increased efficiencies, as well as the use of alloys and high-strength steel. 5. Four-wheel steering is available.

At low speeds, the Cayennes rear wheels turn opposite the fronts for better parking maneuverability; at high speeds, they turn in sync with the fronts for better stability.

6. In addition to plain old disc brakes and performance-oriented carbon-ceramic brakes, Porsche has added a third option: Porsche Surface-Coated Brakes with a tungsten-carbide layer. The latter has a cast-iron disc coated with tungsten-carbide for better friction while reducing wear and brake dust.

Pricing will start at $66,750 for the Cayenne and $83,950 for the Cayenne S; prices can rise rapidly from there depending on which options you choose.

How to get six-pot power in your Porsche 718 Cayman: save up for next GT4 - Duration: 3:31.

How to get six-pot power in your Porsche 718 Cayman: save up for next GT4

Youre looking at the next Porsche 718 Cayman GT4, spied on test during endurance testing at the Nurburgring in Germany.

Its set to provide a new way for purists to enjoy six-cylinder power in their 718, Porsches junior sports car range that recently switched from six-pot boxer engines to flat fours - with a resulting loss in acoustic frenzy.

Porsche 718 Cayman GT4: six-cylinder power confirmed.

Andreas Preuninger, head of the Porsche GT models, has gone on record as saying that the GT4 will be naturally aspirated, pointing to a detuned version of the 40-litre flat-six found in the new 911 GT3.

As the outgoing Cayman GT4 boasted 385bhp, that suggests the new one will likely deliver nearer 400bhp.

Brawny engine and drivetrain implants will take care of the firepower, but the chassis and bodywork will be given a significant makeover too; expect lightweighting and exotic materials galore to make the coupe perform, handle, corner and brake better than ever.

We drove a Cayman GT4 Clubsport racer to give you some idea of what to expect. When can I buy the new 718 Cayman GT4?.

Porsche is the past master of stoking interest in its model ranges as they gently age. With facelifted 718s already doing the rounds of testing, wed suggest the new GT4 is likely to be a 2018 model year entry.

This car pictured in CAR magazines spy photos is a chassis test mule, according to our spies at the Nordschleife, who report that the wheelarches are stuffed with foam packing to make the GT4 prototype look much wider.

And the exhaust is also not really well fitted - another indication that there is a new engine in the car, says our man with the long lens.

Other telltale giveaways that this is a GT-series Porsche are the delicate fixed rear wing, the lightweight alloy wheels wrapped in liquorice-thin, track-focused tyres, the lower ride height and a serious-looking rear diffuser to channel air under the car and create meaningful downforce during high-speed track work.

Yep, it looks like Porsche might have another mouth-watering drivers car on its hands.
