If you're looking for some added security to your TJ, as well as some added style, this

locking fuel door by Rugged Ridge will be a great option for you.

This will give you some rugged style to the back end of your Wrangler, but will also keep

your fuel protected from any unwanted contaminants or any siphoning thieves.

This will give you a little bit of refresh to your '97 to '06 TJ and cover up any worn

factory trim.

Installing this will require tapping into the existing fuel trim, but it is very simple.

So I have to give it a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, and I'll get into

the details in just a little bit.

Small trim added around the Jeep really makes a difference, and this is small, but it's

a very noticeable upgrade that will definitely catch an eye.

The fuel door itself is made out of a stamped aluminum that has a black finish to resist

any corrosion, giving this a long lifespan.

We also have a couple of different options with different finishes and different materials

including a polished stainless steel and a polished aluminum option, as well as a black

stainless steel option.

On the outside of the trim, it's riveted, and it makes the fuel door aggressive for

what it is.

Unlike other options, this whole fuel door and the hardware is black, making it look

a lot stealthier and works well with other trim to black out the Jeep.

This attaches right over the trim, making the fuel door flush and the trim very well

hidden.

With the locking mechanism, it's very simple to use because of the simplicity of the lock.

I like the design of the lock on this fuel door, specifically, because it's a tubular

pin-style lock instead of a standard key lock.

These locks are looked at to be a little bit more safer since they are more resistant to

the standard picking tools.

It even comes with two keys for those just-in-case moments where you might need the second.

This is an inexpensive option to add a bit of extra style and a little bit of extra security,

coming in at right around $80 at the moment.

This is right in the middle of the road in price when you compare it to all of the other

options on the page.

Since this is aluminum, this will be a little bit higher priced than other steel options,

and other choices that are less expensive don't include the locking feature and go for

around $30 cheaper.

Higher-priced options on the page include Mopar fuel doors that, of course, carry a

premium, as well as a locking fuel door by RBP that has a little bit more quality and

thought put into their design, as well as stamping their logo right on the front.

Overall, if you are looking for a fuel door with a simple yet rugged look, a bit of security,

as well as a good price, this is gonna be it.

Like I mentioned, this is very simple, even though there's some minor drilling or tapping

involved, so it gets a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter for me.

You don't need any tools because Rugged Ridge will provide you with an Allen key for the

install, and it should only take about 20 minutes worth of your time.

All you have to do is lay the fuel door over the trim, and I would make sure that everything

is aligned and straight, and mark where the screws will be tapped on the trim while the

fuel door is aligned.

After your marks are made, you can start tapping each of the four screws onto the marks, sandwiching

the fuel door between the trim and the hardware.

Tighten everything down in a criss-cross pattern, and you're all set.

So if you're looking for affordable style and security to your fuel, this Rugged Ridge

locking fuel door is a great option for you and your '97 to '06 TJ.

This is Meredith with XT, and you can find this and everything else Wrangler right here

Jeep Wrangler Barricade Extreme HD Rock Sliders - Textured Black (1997-2006 TJ) Review & Install - Duration: 7:02.

I'm Ryan from extremeterrain.com, and this is my review with the Barricade Extreme HD

Rock Sliders, fitting on 1997 to 2006 TJs.

Today, we gonna talk through the installation of these sliders which I am going to give

a strong two out of three wrenches.

There is going to be some drilling through the body necessary to get these installed.

Although the installation other than the drilling is fairly simple, so I'm gonna go with two

out of three wrenches on this.

I would set aside a good three hours to get this installed because you do wanna measure

twice before you start drilling those holes, so it is going to take a little bit of time.

Today, we're also gonna talk through the construction and a few of the features of these Rock Sliders.

These are gonna be for those of you who do some hardcore off-roading and want to protect

the rocker panels of your Jeep.

The rockers from the factory are left exposed, and if you do come down off of a ledge or

onto a stump or a rock onto the rocker, it'll push that metal up into your door which can

cause a lot of damage to your Jeep.

So, protecting those exposed rockers is a good idea if you're going to be doing some

serious wheeling.

Now there are rocker guards of all different types that mount to your Jeep in a lot of

different ways.

But for a TJ, the style like this that attach to both the body mount and also bold directly

through the tub, are going to be the strongest.

And these ones from Barricade, also have a couple of bars on them which make them double

as a step, which can certainly be helpful when getting in and out of your lifted Jeep.

Now, an item like this is going to provide a lot of protection.

It is very functional.

It's very heavy-duty.

So, they are going to be a little bit expensive.

However, if you are looking for protection, you are going to have to be willing to spend

a little bit more money to make sure that these are going to do the job.

As far as construction goes, this is some heavy-duty steel that's been at a 90 degree

angle to go up the side of the rocker, but also underneath.

And it has some cut outs so that it will slide directly into those body mounts that we talked

It also has all of the holes predrilled across the top.

That is going to be where you drill through your body and use nut and bolt hardware to

attach this directly onto the tub.

Again, that's the way that you're going to get all of the strength.

These are covered in a textured black powder coat finish which will hold up pretty well.

But if you're using these for their intended purpose, which is dragging them across the

rocks with the full weight of the Jeep on them, chances are that powder coat is going

to flake off.

No matter how strong it is, it's just not gonna hold up to that type of abuse.

So, I would recommend because these are mild steel, to hit them with a can of spray paint

when you do have some damage to make sure that they're not gonna rust away on you.

If you do keep paint on these, they are gonna hold up for a good long time and provide a

ton of protection.

Speaking of protection, the bars that are welded onto these rocks sliders as steps are

tilted up a little bit.

And that is not by accident.

That's to help you slide off of obstacles as you're using these as rocks sliders.

Sometimes, the bars that are on your rock sliders will be angled down, which can make

them a little bit more useful as a step but can also get you hung up when you're on the

trail.

So, all in all, these are built specifically for the trail.

These are gonna hold up really well, offer a ton of protection and make sure that you

can slide through obstacles without getting hung up.

As far as the installation goes, as I said before I am going to give this a two out of

three wrenches.

There is some drilling through the body required to get these bolted up.

And you are going to have to set aside over two hours to get these installed.

So, first we gonna have to do a little bit of disassembly for the stock part.

So, we're gonna take off these stream piece and it's gonna be three eight millimeter bolts.

So, with disassembly of the front trim piece, we're also gonna have to remove the side steps.

So, it's gonna be 7 10 millimeter bolts.

And I have a 10 millimeter swivel and an extension.

So, then we're gonna have to locate the five body mounts.

You're gonna have to unbolt them so we can lift the body up and slide the rock sliders

right in.

So, once you remove all of the body bolts on one side, you're gonna wanna crack the

other side loose just you have enough wiggle room to get the rock slider in and installed.

So, now that we have the bolts removed on this side, and the bolts on the other side

loosened, we can raise the body off of the frame so we can get to the body mounts and

modify them to fit our rock sliders in.

The TJ that we're working with already has a body lift on it, so we are gonna have to

modify the body lift pucks, and the modifications are gonna vary depending on what size you

have on your Jeep.

If you're using the stock pucks however, you're gonna have to modify them by five millimeters.

So, once the pucks are modified, you can put them back on top of the body mount.

And I would recommend another set of hands to help you position the rock sliders.

And then you can reinstall the bolts.

So, before you mark and drill holes, I would recommend to use a couple of clamps so you

can get the rock slider as flush to the body as you can.

At this point, you can mark and drill your holes.

So, first, we're gonna drill an eighth-inch pilot hole and then we're gonna go back in

and drill a three-eighths-inch hole for our final bolt.

And now, we're gonna take our supplied hardware and bolt in the rock sliders.

And now, all we have to do is repeat the process on the passenger side.

And that's how you install the Barricade Extreme HD Rock Sliders.

I said before that to get high-quality protection that's going to do its job on the trail, you

are going to have to spend a little bit of money.

And these are going to be a little bit more expensive than some of the other options out

there.

However, these our heavy-duty, these are built well.

They are designed for the trail.

So, if that's what you're looking for, I think that these are a good buy.

If you're just looking for something to cover up existing damage or you don't plan on doing

some real hardcore off-roading, and you just like the look of these, then there are some

less expensive options that won't be quite as functional.

So, if you plan on doing some hardcore off-roading with your TJ and you wanna protect your otherwise

unprotected rocker panels, this is going to be a really nice option.

You are gonna have to drill directly through your tub in order to get these installed,

so you can't go back to stock after you install these.

However, if you're going to be doing some really hardcore wheeling, this is a great

way to protect your tub.

So, that's my review of the Barricade Extreme HD Rock Sliders fitting all 1997 to 2006 TJs

that you can find right here at extremeterrain.com.

How to update Uconnect Radio with USB 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL - Duration: 6:47.

Did you know that you can update your you connect radio with just a USB and

the internet. Well today I'm gonna show you how. My name is Brandon With Jeep

Informant and today I'm gonna be showing you how to update your you connect radio

using just a USB and the internet access now for those of you who haven't

subscribed yet go ahead and do that down below and make sure you click the bell

icon so you don't miss any new Jeep information now in a previous video I

showed you how to check for updates but today I'm going to show you step by step

on how to actually update the radio when the update becomes available now there

are three radios that are eligible for updating via USB

that is the 5.0 you connect the 7.0 you connect and the large 8.4 you connect

now I'd be curious to know how many of you actually knew that you could update

your own radio with USB cast your vote up here in the top right corner now

there's three ways that you can update the radio we have an over-the-air update

we have a USB update and you can take it to the dealership and they use a USB now

as of today April the fourth which is actually jeep 4x4 day hey check my video

out up here on jeep 4x4 date I give you a cool little tip to go four-wheeling

there is an update for the 5.0 you connect radio system now unfortunately

it's only available for dealers right now and will be coming shortly for the

customers only drive you connect website I'm gonna be using a different VIN

number to give you an example of what it would look like when you do download it

and it's available alright so let's take it on over to the computer so go to your

search engine and type in Drive you connect tom so gonna hit this gonna take

us to the website we're gonna click on support then we're gonna click software

updates then we're gonna type in our full 17 character VIN number then we're

gonna click check for updates okay this right here is where it's gonna look a

little bit different from the Jeep Wrangler but

I'm currently using a 2017 charger for this demonstration purposes now the only

thing that you're gonna see different is the alpha numerical numbers here that

represent this specific update now let's go ahead and click the get started

button now this is going to take us to another page here where we have two

options to download and what's very important is not to choose option one do

not choose option one this is a very complicated process and gives you more

steps than you need to go through okay make sure that you choose option two

here this is the easier way let's go ahead and click option to view available

updates that's going to take us to another page here that says download

update now before we click on download update as you can see right here there

is detailed instructions on how to download this update I'm currently using

a Mac so if it differs from yours you might want to click this instruction

page to help you along the way now if we go ahead and click download update you

can see down in the bottom left hand corner that download is started now I am

using Google Chrome you may be using a different web browser but basically it's

going to be downloaded to the Downloads folder now here's where you're gonna

view the progress of the download now depending upon your internet speed it

could take anywhere from 8 to 12 minutes now I have fast forwarded this so if you

want to go ahead and click on the download that's going to start the

extraction in the files now once the files are extracted you will want to

move the extracted files to your USB Drive now your USB Drive must be free

and clear of any data there cannot be nothing on it and has to be a minimum of

16 gigabytes now this will take a few minutes for the data to be copied over

to the USB Drive now once that is finished we want to go to the USB that

we're using and verify that the data is in there and again there can be nothing

else on this jump drive or it will not work only these files that were

extracted now once you've verified that the files are on the USB Drive let's go

remove it and let's go out to the Jeep now it's the new Jeep Wrangler there are

multiple USB ports here in this media center there is the auxiliary port the

micro USB and the standard USB as you can see here above then a little number

one this is the number one USB port now if you move to the center console and

lift the secondary latch up you will see the number 2 USB port now for the USB

update the number one media hub Center USB port must be used the number 2 USB

port is only for charging there's no communications that go to this port now

another very important step is to have the engine running while you're doing

the update and the reason behind that is that the 2018 Jeep Wrangler has the

keyless go feature now if the key is in the run position and the engines not

running after 20 minutes the ignition will cycle to the off position now this

update can take a little bit longer than 20 minutes so that can be a problem

that's why the over-the-air update can also be a problem now once you plug in

the USB into the media center the radio will display the old version new version

and the amount of time that it will take to do this update now you want to click

on the yes button if you want to go ahead and update it now I did put this

on a time lapse and it took somewhere around 28 minutes total to update the

radio now there are some key things that you don't want to do while this is

updating you don't want to cycle the key turn the engine off you know it's

preferably just sitting in the driveway running doing this update if you're

going driving down the road or you're driving somewhere you know there may be

that chance that you get to where you're going and you accidentally cut it off

now this goes the same for the over-the-air update you can't turn that

off during the middle of it either so be careful either way you do it now that

the radio is completely finished you can see here that it's going to reboot

itself so once it goes to the reboot then it's back to normal and your radio

is completely up-to-date guys we're all finished here your radios up to date I

hope you enjoyed this video and it's very knowledgeable to you so I want to

thank you again for watching and have a great

des and hopefully you're smarter about your Jeep now than you was when you

started

Old Man Emu 2,5" Jeep YJ on Jeep CJ7 "best lift kit for CJ7" - Duration: 9:55.

Hello guys!!! well found on the channel !!!

in the video of this week I will show you the Jeep Cj7 Renegade 5.0 v8 of my friend Francesco.

today he gave me his Cj7 to show you the new enhancement kit that I had advised him and that was recently installed

This upshift kit was installed by the Danny 4X4 workshop in Rome

today I will try how this vehicle behaves on the road and in offroad

I will start by illustrating how this uplift kit is made up

the Old Man Emu 2.5 "Kit is not an upside kit for the CJ7 but it is for the YJ

What are the differences between the leaf spring of Cj7 and those of YJ?

they have two differences, which are ......

the front leaf springs of the CJ7 are shorter than the rear ones, while those of the YJ are of the same length (about 10 cm)

as regards the width of the leaf springs, those of the yj are 6 cm wide while those of the cj are larches 5 cm

the greater width of the YJ leaf springs give the Jeep greater cornering stability and greater steering response

with these leaf springs your Jeep will be much more comfortable and stable on the road than the original leaf springs

the upright kit, Old Man Emu 2.5 "is composed of:

four 2.5 "lift leaf springs, with four sheets at the front and five at the rear

between the leaves of the leaf spring there are some polyethylene discs which have the function of making the sheets slide better between them

these leaf springs have a bracket that holds the sheets still between them when extending the axle

while we are off-road the leaves of the leaf are peeled, so we can have a good excursion and compression of the axle

other components that will be used to complete the kit are:

the set of yellow bushings you see in the photos ....

four shackle boomerang ... Currie or Teraflex ... (the Currie are slightly shorter and make the leaf spring work better)

another component that we need to complete the Kit are the four shock absorbers

if we buy the complete OME Kit we will be provided with the yellow ones

but if you want to install a better shock absorber like a monotube, you can water up the Procomp which are excellent and inexpensive!

but if you want to install a better shock absorber like a monotube, you can water up the Procomp which are excellent and inexpensive!

for those who use the Jeep on the road a lot, it is recommended to install the stabilizer bar flaps

if instead you use your Jeep in off-road and in the street you do not do very many kilometers, you can take it off completely, I never installed it on my Cj7...

if instead like my friend Francesco, who does many kilometers on the road and uses the Jeep to go on holiday with his family, he has installed longer rods to connect the stabilizer bar

an advice ..... with this kit you can install the jk rear stabilizer rods

the latter are of the right length to be mounted on the front stabilizer bar of the Cj7

to install the Y-leaf springs on a Cj7 there is no need to make cuts and welds

it is simply necessary to buy the YJ leaf springs that are slightly wider and that we should install slightly later because as I said the YJ cross springs are a little longer

even if the leaf springs are of the same length, the connections must be replaced because the Yj ones are wider

OK guys you just have to talk about the right configuration of the vehicle!

on a Cj7 with 33 "tires the right configuration with these leaf springs is used to a 1" body lift

if you've seen my other videos ... I suggest installing a daystar or Prothane body lift

With this kit the 33 "tire will perfectly fit into the wheel arch

after completing the installation of the kit I suggest you try the half in twist to be able to mount bumper stops of the right length

the bumper stops are limit switches that stop the bridge in compression and do not bump the wheels in the mudguards

if your Cj7 is equipped with a 31 "rubber, you can mount this set-up without the aid of a 1" body lift

or if you want to upgrade your body, you can mount the 0 "daystar lift in polyurethane that gives more solidity to the vehicle!

the body daystar will be more resistant than the original rubber one!

if you are using tires of 35, you must also use flat fenders in addition to the 1 "body lift

if you mount fenders like the Xenon or the hurricane ruget ridge, you have to limit the bridge run with higher bumper stops

alternatively you need to install Poison Spyder-type mudguards that are an upgrade of the entire fender and create more wheel space

this configuration is excellent for off road because it maintains a very low center of gravity

and despite all the Jeep will be soft on the road and will have a lot of hike!

if instead we are going to install a 4,5 "hike kit like the one you saw in the previous videos on my wife's Cj7, aesthetically it will be beautiful but the leaf springs will make it much more difficult to move!

ok guys! for this week it's all!

if you have not done so yet, subscribe to the channel

if you liked this video click LIKE! and if you have any questions, you can do them in the comments

hello next week!

Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Recon Is a $49,000 Jeep -- TEST/DRIVE - Duration: 7:51.

Naturally the Jeep Rubicon can ford water 30 inches worth we got a nice icy

bath here we're gonna break up some ice and go through it most people who take a

look at this thing ahead and say hell no we say hell yes here we go

bath time for the Jeep

oh and I think our cameraman that got a bath as well if you've never seen a

$49,000 Wrangler before a rest assured neither have I this is a real no

exaggeration a serious quantum leap for the Wrangler we're here at Monticello

Motor Club with our favorite rally star Chris new classy and have you ever seen

a Wrangler this fancy before insane but again now this is the kind of thing

that's gonna put off the typical Wrangler fan at first if they think it

means that the thing can oh I can't off-road anymore this thing has dana 44

axles on it I think the stant regular lesser models have like thirty fives but

all all the - all the off-road toys and all right so good let's uh let's go have

some fun in this brood

the big story of this car is that it is so much more civilized and livable but

it's not compromised an off-roading in fact its off-road skills have only

increased I'm driving through about a foot of fresh snow here and uh it's

hooking up reel of cabbie up Goodrich off-road tires some pretty serious nabis

on this thing this is just such an anomaly in today's you know SUV market

everything we remembered as hardcore off-road er is either long gone like a

Hummer or it's been watered down like a Pathfinder this Jeep is sui generis in

this class this is a Rubicon two-door version optional hardtop with removable

panels you can still get a soft top of court guess what's coming an automatic

retractable hardtop for this vehicle even better approach angle even better

crawl ratio than before we've got a 4.10 rear end ten point nine inches of ground

clearance and still goes through thirty inches of water got blocking front and

rear electronic locking front and rear differentials really cool feature I can

hit the button and disconnect the front sway bar to get a little even more wheel

travel and articulation and some in the seriously dicey stuff skid plates for

the transfer case for the transmission rock rails this thing can you know

scrape over something to Martha now this particular Jeep starts at $28,000 for

your basic sport model this Rubicon two-door starts at about $38,000 and

like I said forty nine thousand dollars all in you got different you got Sport

Sport+ and the hardcore Rubicon and if you get

the four-door Wrangler apart you there's also some a Sahara edition it has a

different four-wheel-drive system includes like a full-time four-wheel

drive that has a you know an automatically adjusting torque split for

a while you're driving on road I've got Chris in front of me in in a row

here and Monticello Motor Club besides being you know this great road course

has these really great off-road trails it's a serious serious obstacles here

can see I've got a big steep hill here and lots of snow I'm gonna have to get

some momentum let's see if we can get up this there we go

haha that was not bad well hey it made it that was I wasn't wasn't so sure

about that but did that didn't handle that pretty well a couple little Abadi

bets let's check out the outside of this a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Recon grille

here looks almost more like the old classic CJ that goes back you know to

the post-war era 1964 for uh for a trivia fan that when they first put the

jeep a mounted instead of Willie's Co for a fence part of the kaiser

corporation awesome tough steel bumpers the fog light that's an option

at this thing is a monster

it's just insane um you got this 8.4 inch touchscreen waterproof of course

you can still take a hose to this thing for USBs all waterproof pen estar v6

familiar Chrysler engine 285 horsepower diesel engine coming as well but big

news is a new turbo 4-cylinder that's got more like 270 horsepower but 295

pound-feet of torque a little bit more torque than even this v6 and a lot

better fuel economy as well love this interior it's like the glue evil Slugger

this big leather wrap shift er remote start cross traffic alert blind spot

alert and so much better on road performance a new electric pump for the

hydraulic steering totally retuned suspension five legs up the front redone

springs redone the shocks box ladder frame of course tough as ever but a lot

more rigid mounting points so a lot better on road experience but no lots of

off-road capability this new ladder frame lot more use of aluminum doors

around the windshield header hood mast to save 200 pounds and just so much more

convenient there's still a soft top model man the thing used to just be such

a pain you've never wanted to take it off you can never figure out how to put

it back on again now the thing just retracts or erects in just about half

a minute maybe hardtop my look I'm a little tool kit here we could remove

these these panels are just a couple latches but you of course you can take

off the entire hardtop and this windshield same thing just had dozens

and screws you've never wanted most people didn't even know you could remove

the windshield this one four bolts bing-bing-bing-bing this thing folds

right down door is weight easier to remove and put back on differing lengths

pins and what that means is you can hang one pin and then line up the other one

it used to be so impossible that very tricky to kind of line up two pins at

once while you're trying to hold that like that door in there

so what have we learned about the jeep wrangler rubicon 4x4 well that this is

still a unique proposition in this class we just came off some incredible

off-road trails and no studs or anything this thing was going through two feet of

virgin snow with the front and rear lockers in four-wheel low and four-wheel

high but you can get again a starter Jeep for about twenty eight thousand

dollars take it all the way up complicated this but all the other off

rotors have either gone way of the dinosaur or they've just been softened

up and this is still a serious commando vehicle totally fresh Jeep Wrangler

Rubicon

However, since they're mounted to the front of the Jeep, they need to be protected from

the elements, so your investment stays safe and sound.

This 8,500 to 10,500 pound winch cover by Rugged Ridge will be the perfect solution

to protecting your line from any damage from the sun, or any other harsh elements it may

encounter.

This will also be perfect to protect from any water or mud from getting into your line

and deteriorating it in the long run or messing with the solenoid on the winch.

This is a very inexpensive solution that can save you a lot of hassle in the long run.

There is really not much here guys, but this will make the world of difference for your

winch.

And I always recommend getting a winch cover if you're purchasing a winch or if you already

own one.

Winch lines are strong, but if they aren't covered they can really wear, weakening the

winch line overall.

Synthetic lines are expensive and something that you definitely want to protect.

Any dirt, mud, or sand getting into the line can start to weaken it.

And even with it sitting in the sun, it can get UV damage.

Steel lines will be a bit more rugged, however, you still don't want any water or mud getting

into them since steel is prone to oxidize.

And that's something you definitely don't want on your winch line.

To all of that, this is a very inexpensive, simple solution that will provide some great

protection to the winch.

The cover itself is made of a black vinyl material which will be waterproof and kind of similar

to the vinyl that you can find on your soft top.

However, this will be a little bit thinner than your top and have a smoother finish.

This is also a universal cover that will fit all winches between 8,500 pounds and 10,500

pound pulling capacity.

The cover will have a custom fit and it's split on the sides to make it easily slide

over your winch and protect the line and your winch solenoid.

It even has reinforced grommets on the front with a drawstring, so you can tighten it down.

This will be our most expensive option for a winch cover on the site right now.

However, you're really not breaking the bank with this since it only comes in around $24.

Other options will only save you around $5.

However, they do have different materials and different fits.

We also have another universal option by Barricade that's a bit of a thinner fabric and also

has a drawstring at the bottom, but it doesn't have the reinforced grommets like this option.

The other option that we offer by DV8 has an elastic band sewn into the bottom seam.

However, it will be for a 12,000 pound winch.

Rugged Ridge also includes their warranty on this, so if you're in the 8,500 to 10,500

pulling capacity range and you want something durable, the extra couple of bucks on this

is definitely worth it.

So if you're looking for a very inexpensive way to protect your very expensive investment,

Rugged Ridge has you covered.

This is Merideth with XT.

And for everything Wrangler keep it right here at extremeterrain.com.
