If I am to be honest, I think it have never happened to me,
but after one week of coexistence with this car, I cannot say whether I like it or not.
And I am not only talking about the design,
simply, X2 is for me a car of contrasts.
The fact that it is controversial outgrowth is not the one that concerns me, because I can understand this type of a car.
On the other hand, it is not a secret that this car shares the technology with X1,
and it is a kind of a more sporty and stylish derivate.
In contrast with X4 or X6, here, we cannot witness the "coupé" roof,
and at the same time, this car is noticeably 79 mm shorter,
and 72 mm lower than X1, which does not make much sense to me,
considering the increasing number next to the X letter.
The Munich mathematics does not really add up, because X1 has become in the meantime a full-features SUV,
and suddenly, X2 is some kind of small stylish crossover.
Then there is the design itself.
As a whole, the car looks very good and it cannot deny its origins.
I don't know about you, but when I look at the car from this angle, something seems a little off.
Yes, it is a traditional BMW, very severe lights, perfect full-LED technology and of course,
more angular cut of the angel eyes, but subsequently there is the bumper,
where I feel like some on the lines do not work together.
There are some edges, there is a circle, over all, this detail is really disturbing for me.
Next, the kidney grille.
They are upside down.
I mean, I don't know if Jozef Kaban had something to do with this design,
bit I cannot stop thinking, that this BMW seems different to me.
For the whole week, I cannot make up my mind,
because I tell myself that I do not really enjoy the car, and I have to say,
that this is really great example when it comes to the equipment,
and subsequently the next day, I get into the car, I see it from a different angle,
and I have to tell myself that the X2 really has something to it and that it is really cool.
The back part, I enjoy that one very much.
Well-worked out LED lights, great diffusor, and just look at the exhaust tailpipes.
Most of the orthodox sports cars wouldn't be ashamed of this execution,
so yes, the back part has a "bad boy" feel to it, to which I say:
Thumbs up.
And by the way, the trunk space is 470 litres, which is quite solid.
There is another storm of emotions when I sit inside the interior.
On one hand I really like the dashboard, you can see that they really put they energy into the design, processing and quality.
In the end, the dashboard does not look boring, sterile or cold as in Audi,
and on the other hand I have to say again,
that some of the features have been made very well, as we were used to in Mercedes only, so that is great.
However, on the other hand,
every time that I get into the car, I tend to move my seat, because I cannot really find my comfortable position in here.
Yes, traditional BMW, so you sit in a "cradle", but I feel like my knee will tear this centre off,
I permanently hit my leg there, respectively I am leaning onto it a lot,
when I move further,
I feel too far from the dashboard and not comfortable.
And then there is the steering wheel.
When I put it into the ideal position, I cannot see the bottom part of the display, when I put it a bit lower,
I feel like was in a new Peugeot or so.
The seats, they look really good, the sides can be inflated quite well,
but I have to say I sat in better ones, but I really struggle with the seating here.
To add it all up, X2 is different, even though you have to process some details, BMW created literary a "cool car"
that can really captivate your attention by being so different.
And now I do not only mean referring to the long gone past with the logo on the C-pillar.
Apart from that, as you could notice thanks to the missing joystick of the gearbox,
by the presence of 8-speed automatic gearbox, so the classic lever, X2 cannot deny its relatedness to the model Mini,
and that is a big compliment concerning the driving side of the car.
The most important thing stays relatively unchanged.
And that I appreciate, mainly if I am not talking about BMW,
with RWD, manual gearbox and 6-cylinder engine.
This X2 has nothing from that, it can understandably understeer even when going fast,
but BMW is holding onto the joy from the ride with its teeth even though it knows that this is not a piece for circuit.
The cherry on top of the 25d version is its consumption,
because despite being able to have fun time while driving crazy fast,
you can also drive it with 6l consumption.
