His name is Mai Tien Dung
I think he is super cooL
And let's see will he dance with me

When it comes to expressing yourself and letting your voice be heard
who else better to talk to than our guest today
and also to let us hear all the variations in his voice
so let's welcome Dung
Thank you so much for coming
Thank you for having me
Do you prefer to be called your full name or do you prefer to be called Dung?
Whatever you feel comfortable with
You are so "dễ tính"
I'm very friendly by the way
Hi to everybody who watching IELTS FACE-OFF. And this is me, Mai Tien Dung
You wanted to be a singer for a long time?
I did. But then for a while it was forbidden
because when I was younger when I was still living in Vietnam
I dreamt of being a singer, being on stage
and then when I moved to the US
that is when everything completely changed
I started studying a different path
I was moving from fashion design to interior design
to business to medical field
Oh
Yes,I did
But then I guess the passion is still in me and it caught me about one day
and then I said okay I had to follow it
When you have a passion and have a dream follow it
Do you remember some of your first songs that you started to sing?
Yes I did. It is one of the song is by Vietnamese Band
What was it called?
AC&M
Oh, AC&M. That was a long time ago
There was one song i really like. It sounds really catchy
It's called "Chuyện chàng cô đơn"
I picked that song to be one of the song i gonna go with the contest
Because of that song, people really remember my first time appear on the stage
Share us more a little bit about some of the things that you felt when you first stood on stage
when you first let your voice to be heard to the public
How did that feel?
First of all ,stage fright
So it's one of the biggest stage overseas. They have a quite big audience
and that was a competition
so everything completely more pressure than just being on stage
At first I was very afraid to be in front of a lot of people. And my voice was very low
but then there was an idea that helped me raise my voice bigger and louder
I stand on that stage because of my sister who wanted to be a singer but she couldn't
so I try to express me as my sister being on stage
That was when I start singing better and better. And then I passed the first semifinal round
to go to the final round
Where do you position yourself as a singer?
Some singers position themselves as you know like a sexy singe
Some singers positioned themselves as like a singer who can sing multiple genres
even some singers positioning themselves like this singer who knows a lot of things in the world
Who are you as a singer?
Who am I
Sexy I would say
I didn't mean to do it
I mean people people they gave me the comments
then I guess is the right path and right track for me then
because as I express myself and then they say: "You look sexy"
And then i like "Oh, ok"
But then i do see myself in different genres
I can sing Pop, R&B, some country songs
When you first decided to come back to Vietnam
Was it difficult decision?
Completely difficult. It took me a while to think about it
because everything gonna be new to me even though I'm Vietnamese
but I've live away from it for a long time
a lot of things to think about
but life is too short, you only live once
so I hope it wasn't too late for me to dig into a new path
You're a person who speaks both Vietnamese in English which language do you identify with a little bit more?
I guess Vietnamese
Vietnamese, really?
when I was right at the high school my English was better
However because since I joined in singing and then I become a senior so I had to practice more Vietnamese to sing fully
each day I had to practice how to pronounce Vietnamese more correctly
because when you sing and especially when I sing for the older audience
They do require to sing really accurately
I practice every day so because of that I speak more Vietnamese
I love that you mentioned that because I think it's it kind of reminds us a little bit about how we learn languages
I mean despite the fact that Vietnamese is all of our native languages but to be able to speak it well takes a lot of practice
same thing to be able to speak English well
People need to enunciate the consonants, they need to speak their vowels very clearly
all the stresses have to be correct
Trust me. Now when I look up a new word I still pronounce it wrong
but the thing is this is one thing I remember I always remember
That's my first English teacher told me that
well accent is sexy so keep it
who doesn't want to have to speak like correct English the way we pronounce it. But hey it's you it's who you are yeah so keep it
so what plans do you have in 2018?
For 2018
Did you have just say: 2018 "thì là"
Yeah, i know i did
I guess 2018 I want to have a lot of projects coming out, a lot of new MVs new songs reach out to more audience
of course I want to have a who knows a live show
Are you ready for the next section which is the IELTS challenge section
Okay
I hope so
so guys IELTS challenge coming right up next
now IELTS challenge will start off with something that I call and I really love and it's called the Cai Luong challenge
I'm gonna name a couple of English songs and then you're gonna have to say it in Cai luong style for me
I have never in my life seen Cai luong ever
but I think they said Cai luong defies anything
Really?
let's try
Let's try with "Despacito"
Oh my goodness
Oh my god. This is horrible
So will we try one more song?
An easy song"Twinkle twinkle little star" in Cai luong style
Oh my goodness
I love it
Now with the painful voice
I said you've just lost a lover and then you switch it to like a manly voice who is about to try to attract somebody
Oh my goodness
Try
I hope i did it right
That was sexy right?
Oh my voice today
I guess i crack it up. Let's me try again
Steve Wonder?
Is it? Steve Wondung
Thanks a lot Mai Tien Dung for coming
Thank you
Why don't you give our audience probably 2 to 3 vocabulary
to showcase your singing, to showcase raising letting his or her voice be heard, being on stage, whatever it is
I would say stage fright: being afraid to be on stage.
I would say be courage, be strong honestly
And sing whatever's in your heart
Yes. Sing your heart out
All right I love that
I love singing your heart out and I love accent is sexy
Yes sexy. Trust me, trust me
