* 3D SIMPLE CHEVRON CROCHET STITCH *
SIMPLIFIED SINGLE CROCHET CHEVRON STITCH
* REVERSIBLE *
ALSO: USEFULL INFORMATION for CHEVRONS
HOW MANY CHAINS to BEGIN with?
*MIND that MATERIALS MATTER*
The multicolor project used:
Worsted THIN baby yarns (336 m each ball)
Hook Size: 2,5 mm
It is casted on 255 chains (23 chevron repeats)
It is 74 - 75 cm wide
The bicolor project used:
Relatively THICKER baby yarns (300 m each ball)
Hook Size: 4.00 mm
It is casted on 189 chains (17 repeats)
It is 73 - 74 cm wide
The Tutorial Swatch used:
THICKER yarns (240 m each ball)
Hook Size: 5 .00 mm
It is casted on 35 chains (3 repeats)
It is 17 cm wide
THUS: Cast on as many REPEATS as you desire
*Considering the THICKNESS of yarn & size of hook*
ABOUT the CHEVRON STITCH:
*The beginning chain is straight
*Zigzags are made with PEAKs & VALLEYs
*Special selvedges for straight borders
*REPEATS have an ODD number of chains
*MORE chains on repeats make SHARPER CHEVRONS
On this Tutorial: 11 chains on repeats
A repeat of 25 chs would be V-like chevron
*The beginning and the end SHOULD be identical
FOUNDATION CHAIN:
*WHEN beginning to a BLANKET SIZE project*
MIND to make a few EXTRA chains as a precaution
CHAIN (any) multiple of ELEVEN for each repeat
On the Tutorial: 33 chains (3 repeats)
CHAIN TWO for SELVEDGES
FIRST ROW:
Insert hook into the previous chain
Make a Single Crochet (SC)
Make ANOTHER SC into the SAME chain
(This is the Beginning Edge)
Make a SC into each of the next FOUR chains
***SKIP TWO CHAINS***
Make a SC into each of the next FOUR chains
* VALLEY is made by SKIPPING 2 chains *
Make THREE SCs into the next chain
* PEAK is made with 3 SCs into the SAME chain*
SEQUENCE:
Make a SC into each of the next FOUR chains
***SKIP TWO CHAINS***
Make a SC into each of the next FOUR chains
Make THREE SCs into the NEXT chain
LAST REPEAT of the Row:
Make a SC into each of the next FOUR chains
SKIP TWO CHAINS
Make a SC into each of the next FOUR chains
*ONE remaining chain (+3 EXTRA chains)*
Make TWO SCs into the next chain
*This is how the project should look like now*
MIND the EXTRA chains at the very end
*You might NOW UNRAVEL them*
*As SHOWN*
(It was a precaution for numerous foundation chains)
Also suitable for ANY BLANKET SIZE PROJECT
ABOUT the WIDTH of the CHEVRON PROJECTS:
MIND that at the end of FIRST ROW :
The total width of the project is CLEARLY SHORTER
Due to zigzag repeats
SLIGHTLY SHORTER
On this swatch of 3 repeats of 11 chns
( MINUS 1 - 1,5 cm )
MIND that it WOULD HAVE BEEN
STILL REMARQUABLE with BLANKET size projects
FURTHERMORE:
With repeats of numerous chains
(As 25 chains in each repeat)
HIGHLY REMARQUABLE with BLANKET SIZE projects
*THUS: CHAIN MUCH MORE than the desired width*
As you CAN UNRAVEL a few undesired chns at the end
SECOND ROW:
CHAIN ONE & TURN
ATT: This DOES NOT count as a chain or edge
Make TWO SCs into the FIRST chain
*This is the BEGINNING EDGE*
FROM NOW ON:
* You will USE the BACK LOOPS ONLY (BLO) *
Make a SC (BLO) into each of the next FOUR chains
*SKIP TWO CHAINS*
Make a SC (BLO) into each of the next FOUR chains
ATTENTION:
Next chain is the MIDDLE ch of the previous PEAK
Make THREE SCs (BLO) into the next chain
CHEVRON SEQUENCE:
Make a SC (BLO) into each of the next FOUR chains
SKIP TWO CHAINS
Make a SC (BLO) into each of the next FOUR chains
*Next ch: MIDDLE ch of the previous PEAK*
Make THREE SCs into the next chain
LAST repeat of the Row:
Make a SC (BLO) into each of the next FOUR chains
SKIP TWO CHAINS
Make a SC (BLO) into each of the next FOUR chains
*ONE REMAINING CHAIN*
Make TWO SCs into the LAST chain
*This is the ENDING EDGE*
*This is how the project should look like now*
ALL NEXT ROWS:
CHAIN ONE & TURN
Make TWO SCs into the FIRST chain (Beginning Edge)
SOUNDLESS repeat of the Chevron SEQUENCE follows
Make a SC (BLO) into each of the next FOUR chains
SKIP TWO
Make a SC (BLO) into each of the next FOUR chains
Make THREE SCs into the next chain
*FIRST repeat completed*
and so on...
*2nd repeat completed*
*Last repeat completed*
Make TWO SCs into the LAST chain (Ending Edge)
And so on UNTIL the DESIRED LENGHT
*This is how the project looks like after a few rows*
*3D CHEVRON STITCH*
*REVERSIBLE*
OPTIONS:
*ADD secondary color rows within the project
With regular or irregular intervals of Main Color Rows
*Use ONE Main Color
Make ONE secondary color ROW with regular intervals
*USE a specific no of rows with ONE color
ADD the same (or more) no of rows of different colors
ALL SAMPLES on this tutorial used the other colors:
ONLY in ONE FRONT & ONE BACK ROWS
How to CHANGE color of YARN?
*MIND the 'CHAIN ONE & TURN' at the end of rows*
*CHAIN ONE & TURN with the NEW COLOR of YARN*
(You might cut or LEAVE the previous yarn at the side)
Make TWO SCs into the FIRST chain
SEQUENCE will be made continuing with the new color
THUS: Make a SC (BLO) into each of the next 4 chains
SKIP TWO
Make a SC (BLO) into each of the next FOUR chains
Make THREE SCs into the next chain
and so on...
At the end of row: Make TWO SCs into the last chain
CHAIN ONE & TURN
Make TWO SCs into the FIRST chain
Continue with the Chevron Sequence
At the end of row: Make TWO SCs into the last chain
*This is how the the Tutorial 2nd color rows are made*
CHANGE to the MAIN COLOR of YARN
CHAIN ONE & TURN
(Cut of LEAVE the secondary color yarn)
and so on...
How to FINISH the project?
When the DESIRED LENGHT is reached
Cut the Yarn & Fasten Off
MIND the REVERSE SHAPE at the ENDING ROW
How to MAKE SHARPER CHEVRONS?
You USED ELEVEN chains on this Tutorial
4 + 4 chains on each side
1 chain for the PEAK
& 2 chains for the VALLEY
SLIGHTLY SHARPER EX: (13 chains in each repeat)
1 PEAK + 2 VALLEY chns will be subtracted
THUS: 13 - 3 chains = 10 chains
10 / 2 = 5 chains on each side of the repeats
SHARPER CHEVRON EX: (25 chains in each repeat)
25 - 3 = 22 chains
22 / 2 = 11 chains on each side of the repeats
