Auto news on Youtube Jan 28 2019

Kia is gearing up to introduce the 2020 Telluride at the North American International Auto Show and the company is giving us a closer look at its range-topping crossover thanks to a new teaser video

Previewed by a handful of near-production concepts at SEMA and New York Fashion Week, the 2020 Telluride will be launched next spring and offer seating for up to eight people

The crossover will be built and Georgia and compete with other models such as the Chevrolet Traverse and Subaru Ascent

While that much we already knew, the teaser video describes the Telluride as large, premium crossover that embraces the idea of "big, bold and boxy

"Unfortunately, the clip doesn't show much of the exterior as it only gives a peek at the crossover's prominent grille, LED-framed headlights and L-shaped taillights

The brief glimpse of the interior reveals the model will have a leather-wrapped steering wheel with gloss black accents, metallic flourishes and high-quality switchgear

It also shows perforated black leather seats with contrast stitching integrated into the backrest

We can also see the Telluride center's stack will have a wide central air vent that resides above two rows of switches

While Kia hasn't mentioned performance specifications, the 2020 Hyundai Palisade gives us a pretty good idea of what to expect

It rides on an all-new platform and features a 3.8-liter V6 engine that produces an estimated 291 hp (217 kW / 295 PS) and 262 lb-ft (354 Nm) of torque

The engine is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission which can be paired to an optional all-wheel drive system

The Palisade is also pretty luxurious as the model offers quilted Nappa leather upholstery and ventilated second-row captain's chairs

Other highlights include a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch infotainment system and a power-folding third row

Kia Atsales - ANTH 101 Introduction - Duration: 2:29.

Hello everyone my name is Kia Atsales and I'm an adjunct instructor at College of the Canyons

for the anthropology department and I'm also going to be your instructor this semester

for anthropology 101: physical anthropology.

I just wanted to create this video to introduce myself and say hi to everyone as well as to

give you a couple of tips about how this semester is going to go for anthropology 101 online.

So a little about me and my background in anthropology...

I first got interested in anthropology actually when I was eight years old and went to the La Brea Tar Pits.

Just thought it was really cool to think about this whole world that was underneath of our

feet that we could discover that we didn't really think about.

And I know that those guys were paleontologists but I eventually become interested more so in

the human aspect of our past and that's how I started doing anthropology - which is anthropos-

meaning human and -ology the study of.

Once I went off to college I went to UC Santa Barbara and I studied cultural anthropology

and then eventually went to grad school at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities where

I studied archaeology. So I've had a little bit kind of everything about all of the different facets of anthropology.

This term we're going to be focusing more so on biological or physical anthropology

which is the study of humans as biological organisms. But we will also touch upon things

like linguistics, or the study of human language, as well as archaeology, or the study of humans

from their material remains and their past, as well as cultural anthropology, or the study of human cultures.

So we'll get a little taste of everything, but in particular we will be focusing on biological anthropology

this semester.

In terms of navigating the website, you'll see every week that I will be posting something

to "Modules" or the Modules section on the Canvas site which is located on the task bar

on the left hand side.

Under the Module for each week you'll see things like discussions that you'll be participating

in, as well as lecture assignments, homework assignments, and other types of videos and

things for you guys to check out.

Each week at the end as I mentioned you will have a homework assignment or quiz that you

will be completing based off of all of the information that I have posted for you guys.

You will also have two exams this semester that you'll be working on.

So if you want more details on all of that information on the front page or home page

of the Canvas site I have the syllabus posted for you guys, as well as my welcome letter.

Please feel free to reach out to me at my email which I have located on that home page

as well, but for you guys it's Kia, my first name K-I-A, dot my last name Atsales, it's

spelled like AT-SALES @ canyons dot edu.

Really looking forward to a fun semester and I'll talk to you guys soon.
