This BMW-Powered Lincoln Continental Diesel Is Looking For A New Home - Duration: 2:18.
Diesel-powered luxury vehicles are becoming increasingly rare in the United States, but you can to buy one of the more obscure examples from the 1980's
Recently noticed by Redditors, there's a Craigslist listing for a 1984 Lincoln Continental Mark VII.While most 1980's Continentals are pretty forgettable, this one features a BMW-sourced turbodiesel engine
It would be natural to assume this is some kind of homebrew modification, but the engine was equipped straight from the factory
Following the two oil crisis in the 1970's, Lincoln wanted to offer a more efficient engine in the Continental and eventually tapped BMW to use their 2.4-liter six-cylinder turbodiesel.
While it only produced 114 hp (85 kW / 115 PS), the diesel engine wasn't much less powerful than the 5.0-liter V8 petrol which developed 140 hp (104 kW / 142 PS).
Despite offering significantly better fuel economy ratings, the diesel engine bombed with consumers. There's no word on how many units were sold, but the Craigslist ad suggests there were only around 2,500 built
Regardless of the final number, the diesel-powered variant was only offered for two years. This brings us to the Craigslist's car which is a coupe that has spent decades in storage
The seller is asking for $2,500 and says the model is in "near perfect shape" despite the fact that it hasn't been started in 20 years and needs a new head gasket
That seems like a lot of money for a broken Lincoln Continental, but the seller goes on to say the car is rust free and has a gray leather interior that is in near perfect condition
While the listing doesn't mention mileage, the car comes with the original window sticker and factory paperwork

BMW Celebrates 20 Years Of Its MotoGP Safety Cars - Duration: 1:48.
BMW has produced every MotoGP safety car since 1999, and in a newly-released video, the company has celebrated some of the most iconic ones, most of which were created by the M Division
Arguably the coolest safety cars ever used was a customized Z8 Roadster used during the 2002 season
Not only is seeing a Z8 Roadster on the street an extremely rare occurrence given the car's limited production run, but for those who followed the 2002 MotoGP season, seeing one lap some of the world's most iconic circuits would have been an incredible sight
Another interesting vehicle is the Z4 M Coupe used in 2007 and barely much larger than the motorcycles it led throughout that year
A few years later, in 2011, the much-loved 1M Coupe was the official safety car and perhaps the most badass of them all
In more recent times, a satin black M4 was used in 2015, an M2 was featured in 2016 and this year, BMW decided to start using its latest and most powerful production machine, the M5
The video below doesn't feature every single MotoGP Safety Car from BMW in the last 20 years and leaves out vehicles like the X6 M used in 2009, but it still makes for interesting viewing
It remains to be seen what BMW will use in the years to come, but we wouldn't be surprised to see the upcoming M8 featured in 2020

Facelifted 2019 BMW X1 To Offer Better Fuel Economy, More Tech - Duration: 2:27.
BMW is updating the popular X1 SUV in order to get it ready to fight with newer rivals, like the all-new Audi Q3 and the upcoming Mercedes GLA
We've spotted several camouflaged test cars over the past months and the latest one has the least amount of camo tape on its body, giving us a better idea of what to expect from BMW's best-seller
The mid-life update of the BMW X1 will bring some subtle design changes -as is the norm for the Bavarian car maker the past few years-, and will include refreshed lighting units all around, along with new bumpers and other smaller differences on the outside
Things like the optional laser headlights featured on the test car you see in the pictures or the new kidney grille, which remains active but now gets the same aesthetic treatment with models like the new 3-Series are among these differences
The biggest difference inside will be found on the infotainment department, where BMW is going to add the latest version of its system along with a bigger touchscreen display
New trim options and colors are also on the table. The rest of the cabin will remain untouched, as it's already one of the most spacious and practical environments in its class, offering plenty of room for passengers and their luggage
The engine range will finally gain a plug-in hybrid version, which will be a first for customers outside China
We still don't know if the plug-in hybrid powertrain is going to be the same combo of a 1.5-liter three-pot petrol engine with an electric motor as in the China-spec model but chances are it is, albeit in an updated version
BMW already offers the 225xe Active Tourer with the same powertrain. The rest of the petrol and diesel engine options will also receive some updates in order to offer better fuel efficiency and lower CO2 emissions
The facelifted BMW X1 is expected to be revealed sometime early next year, with some reports suggesting a public debut at the Geneva Motor Show

New BMW 3-Series' Notched Headlights Were Inspired By The E46 - Duration: 1:52.
To say the new BMW 3-Series stirred a bit of controversy with its design would be an understatement
Fortunately, we now have a solid explanation for one of the vehicle's most intriguing design elements
During the recent launch of the latest-generation 3-Series in southern Portugal, BMW told members of the world's media that the new car's headlights were inspired by those of the E46-generation 3-Series
Even the quickest of glances at the front fascia of the new 3-Series reveals headlights that appear to have a sharp slice cut out of them
According to BMW, this design is meant to mimic the curve found in the E46's headlights, Jalopnik notes
With the exception of this little cut-out, however, the new BMW 3-Series shares almost no resemblance to its E46 predecessor
As has become the norm for sports sedan's nowadays, the new 3-Series has a much sharper and aggressive design than previous iterations, complete with angular lines, muscular shapes, and pointed corners
By comparison, the E46 3-Series, particularly its front fascia, was an orgy of soft, smooth, and flowing lines
Beyond its design, the new 3-Series stands out from its predecessors on a number of other fronts
Most importantly, it is based on the new CLAR platform that promises to transform how the sedan drives
