We're here in beautiful Cape Spear, Newfoundland on Canada's east coast with our One Honda One Tree
winners Steve, his wife Heather, and Kerry from Forest Recovery Canada.
Are you guys ready to go plant some trees? Yep. Oh yeah! Let's do it!
I'm Steve Brunke, my wife Heather Sharpe and we're from Barry's Bay Ontario.
I bought a Honda Pioneer 500 and entered in the One Honda One Tree event.
When I won the contest, I was actually surprised I had actually had forgotten I entered and then
I got a message and I was really shocked that we had won the contest.
Big congratulations to our One Honda One Tree winners. Welcome, welcome!
We're here just outside of beautiful Cape Spear in Newfoundland and we're going to be planting
today on Crown land here by the East Coast Trail so, let's do it.

I think you picked the best day possible.
I'm Kerry McLaven and I'm the Director of Operations at Forest Recovery Canada.
Forest Recovery Canada is trying to get more trees on the landscape across Canada.
Today we're in Newfoundland with the One Honda One Tree campaign
and we are helping to plant trees right outside of Cape Spear today.
We are planting white spruce and black spruce and we're trying to restore forest coverage in the area.
So it's really important that we're planting here in Newfoundland today because this
area has traditionally been cleared for agriculture.
A lot of the new comers here to Canada cleared the land hoping that they could grow their fruits and vegetables
here and it's not the best crop land and so all of that natural forest was cleared originally.
And so a lot of the open areas you see are areas that we could establish
new forests so that's what we're doing here today.
We had talked about coming here to Cape Spear for a long time and just the east coast in general
and we haven't had the chance to do it yet so we picked Cape Spear and it worked out perfectly.
Coming up here to plant a tree is really neat.
Something to look forward to in the future to come back and see where we actually planted trees
along the east coast trail and near Cape Spear will be really neat.
