I spent the night and dug up my car from the snow in the morning, there was a lot of snow
There was a charging station and 50 charge points, 50 CHAdeMO
From an ordinary power socket at the post office, yes. I came to love Russian Post
Electric cars will be like smartphones
This is our future
Hello everyone, this is Moscow Tesla Club
Today we're having an incredible guest - Marek Kamiński, an explorer, who traveled all around the world,
and his is currently on 28000-kilometer journey on electric car, Nissan Leaf
This is incredible, I have so many questions
How was it... How is it possible... How you came up with the idea?
This idea occurred to me when I was traveling to North and South Pole
and as I was skiing through the snow, there was no trace behind me,
except traces on the snow, but they were fading quickly
And I thought that it is possible to travel around the world without any trace too
I was the first person to reach both North and South Pole
I like to push the boundaries of possibility
And when someone said that it isn't possible to travel even from Poland to Moscow on this car,
I thought: "Why not?"
From Poland to Japan
Why did you choose these particular countries?
Japan is the furthest from Poland country that you can reach without crossing the ocean
It was interesting for me to answer this question: is it possible
with my experience and some preparation to make this trip on an electric car?
And yet you chose an electric car that doesn't have the best mile range on the market
Nissan is an ordinary car, everyone can buy it
So you were looking for an EV with an affordable price
Affordable, yes. And also I didn't have much practice with electric cars before
And what about people who knew nothing about electric cars, I'm sure there were a lot of them. How did they react?
They were happy to see with their own eyes: it's not some gadget
that doesn't work. It's a car, you can travel from Poland to Japan on it.
What is the most vivid expression from this journey?
I was traveling through the mountain pass to Ulan-Ude, and everything happened so fast
In half an hour temperature dropped from 12°C to zero. It started snowing
15 minutes later there was this much snow on the road
In half an hour from somewhat an idyllic situation - there is only 30 km left, in half an hour I will be in Ulan-Ude -
it became almost life-threatening. I headed to the forest. I was prepared for this, I had a sleeping bag with me
I spent the night and dug up my car from the snow in the morning, there was a lot of snow
What about the battery? Low temperature, a snow bank...
Yes, I was afraid that in the morning the battery will be dead
But it was still 60 km of mile range left, nothing changed during the night
I was heading to Nizhny Novgorod a few days ago
At night it was also 1°C or 2°C below zero, I was driving through a mountain pass
And as I was going uphill I was losing 1 km of mile range every 50 m I passed
At that time it was only 30 km left to Nizhny Novgorod, and I also had 25-30 km of mile range
Where can you find the largest number of electric cars?
I suppose in China. In China I noticed...
There was a charging station and 50 charge points, 50 CHAdeMO
Where do they find this much electric power?
And what about Russia? Can you name three places where you noticed many electric vehicles?
I suppose Moscow, Vladivostok and Irkutsk
Nissan Leaf must be popular at the Far East.
Yes, because it is made in Japan
And most of them are a right-hand drive, I suppose
Yes, right-hand drive, exactly
Charging stations can be found mostly within the city limits. How can you charge your car in other places?
There was only 10 km of mile range left. And I was in the middle of the forest, in Taiga
I looked at the map, noticed a small village nearby. Headed there, found a post office
A very small post office. At 8 o'clock a woman showed up for work, and she allowed me to charge a car
From an ordinary power socket at the post office, yes. I came to love Russian Post
How did you manage to cross the Gobi Desert?
I looked for small villages, gas stations, diners and tried to charge a car there
It was very difficult, because they doesn't speak English, doesn't speak Russian, only Mongolian
What will help electric vehicles to become more popular?
It is a very pleasant vehicle. No noise, no exhaust fumes, no air pollution
It is a great pleasure to ride an electric car. I think in the future electric cars will be like smartphones
It gives us a big range of possibilities. Now an ability to talk is only a third
of the possibilities smartphones provide for us. And mobility will be only one third of what an electric car can provide
Is there something you want to tell our subscribers?
This is our future. This is a very pleasant car to drive. So I can recommend it
On a car like that you can travel to Japan right now
And every month there are more and more charging stations, so you should buy an EV
Thank you for your experience, thank you for doing this
You proved that it is possible to travel without any limits
And even with limited mile range, you can find electric power everywhere and charge your car
Thank you very much
Yes, thank you
Dear friends, that was an interesting conversation, and in the future
we will continue talking on our channel about traveling on electric cars
So stay tuned and have a nice day
