2018 Ford EcoSport Review: Ford's New Mini SUV - Duration: 3:42.

In 2018 Ford is introducing us to a completely new model in their SUV lineup, the small but

aptly named EcoSport has made its way to Richmond Ford.

Not to be confused with the Eco in EcoBoost the EcoSport is pronounced like Echo.

This Economical SUV is powered by either the standard 1.0L 3 cylinder Ecoboost with font

wheel drive or the 2.0L Ti-VCT inline 4 cylinder with All Wheel Drive.

Both are mated to a 6 Speed automatic transmission with auto-start-stop technology to save even

more fuel.

You can expect 23 city and 29 highway in the 2.0 and an even better 27 city and 29 highway

miles per gallon with the 1.0.

As for styling the EcoSport shares some distinctly Ford features that strike familiarity even

though this is its first drive on US roads.

Smaller than the Escape but larger than the Focus and Fiesta it serves as sort of a middle

ground for those that need the extra space and capability of an SUV but still enjoy the

compact size and maneuverability of a compact car.

The top of the line SES trim features a sport tuned suspension, black exterior details,

roof rack side rails with cross bars, and 17 inch premium dark tarnished wheels to complete

the dramatic exterior styling.

The SE, SES and Titanium all feature LED signature lighting that not only increase visibility

but improve on the looks of the EcoSport.

The unique rear swing gate has a hide away latch and opens up the rear cargo area for

easy access.

There is an optional cargo management system that features a cargo net, organizers and

the already standard adjustable rear load floor and shelf to allow you to store just

the way you need.

Need extra space?

No problem the 60/40 fold flat rear seat provides even more cargo room for when you need taking

advantage of the extra room an SUV platform provides.

As we are in the interior you will notice that there is plenty of space for up to 5

passengers.

These passengers also get the luxury of multiple power points throughout the cabin as well

as SYNC connect with Wi-Fi hotspot capability for up to 10 devices and a range of up to

50 feet.

The driver has complete connectivity with the Sync 3 system, 8-inch touchscreen and

comes with android auto and apple car play capability.

The B&O premium audio system by Harman was specifically designed for the EcoSport delivering

high quality audio comparable to that of a home stereo system.

Also on the 8-inch screen is a standard backup camera and the safety features don't stop

there.

BLIS with cross traffic alert warns of other vehicles crossing behind or in the blind spot

of your EcoSport.

If the EcoSport keys get handed over to your teen driver the MyKey system allows you to

keep their driving habits in check by limiting speeds and audio volume for safety.

Overall the EcoSport is a nice new addition to the Ford line up of unique and forward

thinking vehicles.
