in Cape Town
we will drive directly to our next destination

we decided to take the shortest way
because we took the longest route yesterday
and we had not so much time for filming
the interior and exterior of the car
that's why we take the shortest route
and we will drive through the winelands. That'll be interesting
and then we can rigorously test the car
I mean, not rigorously

Audi A7
it's the most beautiful one for me

you also have double glazing which you can see when you turn down the windows
there are two window layers

I have the lane assist enabled and I'll take off my hands

that's why I have to enjoy those last impressions from here

Finally I have more time to have a closer look at the car
especially from the exterior
what's new on the Audi A7?
I presented the car to you during the world premiere last year
and finally I could test drive it
and try out a few things with the car
you probably noticed that the car has a few more edges now
Maybe you have seen the tail lights in my last video
they changed and are now connected with a light stripe
let me show you how that looks like
when you open and close the door
it's not that visible in the sunlight
it's a really cool light animation in the tail- and headlights
typical for the new Audi models are the chrome exhaust shades
which have no use anymore
they were made for the look of the car without any function
but you have to know that
most people wonder why those exhaust shades are no real pipes anymore
car manufacturers organize market analysis
and they test their products and show them new options
to a test team
and they came up with the result that
people miss that look when there is something missing
even if the actual pipe is underneath the car and not visible at all
but people miss the look of it and therefore
Audi did it that way
Just imagine there would be nothing, it was looking weird then
you may think that there is not much room, because of the flat rear
but as you can see there is a lot of room
bags are already in the car
there is a lot of room in here
and it protects you from the sun, I think I'll just stay here
you can manually activate the rear spoiler
whenever you want
it also activates automatically when you drive faster than 120km/h
and it turns back in when you drive slower than 90km/h
Now let's check the interior of the car
You can open the A7 with your smartphone
you can just hold you phone on the door handle
and the car opens via NFC connection
Place your phone in the car and push ignition
you don't need a key anymore!
you can use up to 6 different phones
First thing I want to show you is that cool nightvision camera
the nice guy over there was so kind to walk through the field of view
as you can see at the display
it's daytime obviously
but it looks like that too when it is completely dark
when someone walks in front of your car or an animal cross the road
then you see that glowing bright parts on your display
You also have the ability on the virtual cockpit
to increase or decrease the size of the speedometer
so everything on the display right in front of you is bigger
or smaller
something that is also cool to see is: where am I at the moment?
I can see that here in the cockpit
I have a worldmap at the display
as you can see we are at the most southern part of South Africa
Here in Cape Town
I can zoom in on that sat-nav view
We don't have an installed map of Cape Town in this car
therefore you cannot see any roads or objects
but I entered "Frankfurt" on this map
now you have a view from the streets of Frankfurt
and the most interesting part about that is
you can see the structure of the road which means
the satnav knows the exact street alignment
and it knows on which part of the road you are driving
E.g. you have a road with three lanes
the satnav knows on which lane I currently am
and it adjusts the navigation for you
and also another real cool feature is
you have a 3D view
when I move it like that
you can see the skyline of Frankfurt
in 3D!
you can do that with two fingers
we have an online radio that we can receive worldwide
in case I want to listen to my favorite radio channel from Germany here in Cape Town
then I can do it here. Online.
Do you know that problem: You drive on the highway and listen to the radio
and the reach of the terrestrial radio channel gets out of your range
and all you hear is noise and you have bad quality
radio is already looking for an alternative radio channel
and you don't have that here anymore
but why?
as soon as the car notices that there is no more good connection to the radio channel anymore
it switches automatically to the same online radio channel
that means
wherever you are, you can always listen to your favorite radio channel
Also in South Africa!
How cool is that?
My favorite feature in the car
we are trying out the voice command now
it understands me very well
I can control the satnav and the AC with the voice command
it doesn't work like systems that recognize keywords only
but I can say for example:
I feel cold
Which temperature can I adjust for you?
21°C please
okay, I increase the temperature to 21.0
wow
how cool is that?
another one:
seat ventilation level 1
okay, I set the seat ventilation to level 1
I can have a conversation with the car!
That is really cool!
I can also enter the satnav destination here
I cannot only use the keyboard display, but I can also
draw the letters here, e.g.:
"H"
"I"
"A"
the satnav repeats the letters that I write
when I'm in the car and enter the destination while driving
I can type in the letters blind
I don't need to look at the keyboard
the satnav understood my bad handwriting
that means I can write real quick while driving with my finger
You know the shape of the letters
even when you handwriting is bad, the satnav understand them anyway
of course you can also do that with the voice command
which is way easier
I can just say: "navigate me to Ingolstadt"
there is a function to disable the upper screen
when I drive during nighttime
and I feel that it is too bright
then I push that button
I can adjust the virtual cockpit with that too
there is another button to lift the rear spoiler
if you wonder how to clean that display
as you can see it gets dirty with fingerprints when you use it often
how do you clean it without pushing too many buttons?
you can just turn that off with that button too
so both displays are off, so I can clean them now
without pushing any buttons
and I can enable them again when I touch that button 2 seconds
let's have a look at the parking cameras
there you have
that cool function to see your car in 3D
you have a view from above
that is made of many cameras around the car, I think 4 cameras
those cameras create a picture as if you car is filmed from above
as you can see the guys standing around the car
you can see the feet of them
in case you parked your car and you want to continue driving
and somebody stands behind your car
or an object is in your way
then you can clearly see that
and we have the 3D option that means that you can view the car from different angles
the cameras cannot show the car from the outside they are just mounted at the car
so it is a 3D view of the car
and here you can see again
the legs of the guys next to the car
and the entire surroundings
we have the possibility to switch between cameras
here is someone behind the car
I want to see what happening, so you can see it here
from the rear view
here you can see some legs from the side
I can look at the front view
as you can see, there are many new features in the A7
these features are already in the A8
and we will see most of that in the new Audi A6
Many buttons to play with in a big car
The Audi A7 is available with two different engines: one petrol and one diesel
The 55 TFSI as the petrol version
it comes with a S-tronic and 340HP
and 500Nm of torque
and then we have the 50 TDI
it has 286HP and 620Nm with a 8-gear Tiptronic
we have a double glazing that makes the interior really quiet
turning the windows up and down is really quiet as well
these are many details that makes the difference
the turning circle is very small
these are the impressions that I got
I fly back to Germany now
