There are not many people in the world who can say they live their dream.

But I can.

People hear it when it comes

Even those that have problems hearing can hear it coming

And those that can't see so well, they think it's easy to see ...

The Blue Lightning

My name is Evald Jastad.

I am a taxi driver in Odda.

And I drive a Ford Focus RS

The world's first RS model as a taxi

Most people know who I am

My customers call my taxi,

"Blue Lightning"

I have been a fan of rallycross since I was a kid.

Any taxis available?

I've got it.

Thank you.

A lot of people need a taxi.

The public transport system cannot always help you

especially older folk for example.

We have one customer.

She is 96-years-old

and loves to ride in the car.

Yes, Blue Lightning is the best.

I like riding in it.

It always works out alright.

Of course. That's true.

I thought about going to the highway to hitchhike.

No.

But then you saved me.

She really enjoys the drive.

I help her with her groceries.

Sometimes I stop by to check on her.

She's a really good customer.

A lot of houses

are situated along the Fjords next to narrow roads.

So my RS is perfect to drive in this environment.

It's a very fast car,

it does 0 to 100 in 4.7 seconds

Hello.

Hello!

This is the car here?

I like it!

Yeah this is nifty.

Wow.

Well, would you look at this.

This is awesome!

I've never ridden in a car like this before.

You don't see this kind of thing in Canada.

Yeah, it's pretty cool.

Tourist come from all around the world to see Odda.

I don't know where to look at

the car, the mountains or the sheep.

My driving style is balanced and calm

but no one can deny me accelerating quickly to the speed limit.

So, is this like a racing car?

Yeah.

How fast can you go?

[ Laughter ]

Oh my ...

[ Laughter ]

Woo Hooo!

That was a great ride man.

I like to meet people from all over the world

and show them my hometown in the Focus RS.

Selfie!

I have a girlfriend

and two kids,

a 3.5 year old boy and a daughter.

We live outside Odda

Working with the RS taxi is a lot of work

But I do it for my family.

They're who I live for,

they give me purpose

I do this all for my family,

they mean everything to me.

My first customer of the day is my son.

I drive him to kindergarten.

We always enjoy ourselves in the Focus.

He's always asking me to give it gas.

One ... two ... three!

Give it gas

Give it gas

Give it gas

Give it gas

Give it gas

Give it gas

Give it gas!!

It's a good life.

I live in a beautiful part of the world

and I drive a Focus RS

It's fantastic.

Ford Is Having Trouble with This Whole 'Profit' Thing | The Big Story - Duration: 1:16.

Hello Jalopnik readers.

I'm Adam Milt, and this is the Big Story.

Ford Motor Company has reported that despite revenue being up and net income higher,

their 2017 4th quarter pre-tax profits were down 19% from last year's.

Even though that's a big drop, Ford still made $1.9 billion and doesn't seem too bothered

about the decline.

Erik Shilling, news editor for Jalopnik, reports that it's

"mostly because the prices for raw materials have been rising.

Ford opted to make its trucks with aluminum bodies, which made them several hundred pounds

lighter than they would be, but also cost the company more money since aluminum is more

expensive to make and buy than steel."

Ford went aluminum with the F-150 for this generation, and was the first major American

carmaker to switch away from making its super profitable pickup out of simpler, cheaper steel.

Shilling goes on to say that he doesn't "think a company that made $8.4 billion

last year has too many problems with the fitness of its business—though shareholders are ever

hungry, and boards and CEOs ever eager to feed that hunger."

It will be interesting to see if all of this pays off for Ford.

You never know if gas prices may spike again, and Ford will look like a fuel-efficient hero.

Or if they'll stay low and the company's more conservative rivals will rake in more cash.

For Jalopnik, this is your Big Story.
