Like the Honda Pilot but Don't Need 3 Rows? Check Out the New Honda Passport | First Look | Edmunds - Duration: 3:07.
DAN EDMUNDS: Did you ever think the Honda CRV was just
a bit too small, or the Honda Pilot was a bit too large?
You might be a candidate for the new Honda Passport.
This is the 2019 Honda Passport.
We haven't seen the Passport since 2002,
when it last appeared as a body on frame SUV,
not unlike a 4Runnver.
Now, it's a crossover SUV that seats five people, two rows.
So it's like a CRV, but bigger and more powerful
and with a better all wheel drive system.
That's because it's based on the Honda Pilot, which
is a three row SUV.
But with the third row gone, it can be six inches shorter.
The Passport and the Pilot ride on the same platform
with 111 inch wheelbase and the same track width.
But the Passport stands an inch taller,
which you can see right here and underneath if you
look at the ground clearance, which is an inch greater
than the Pilot.
So this is a more adventurous version
of that vehicle, smaller with more compact dimensions,
but it's got the same interior, the same great layout,
the same interior roominess that you'd see in a Pilot.
The thing I like about the shorter length, which
is all behind the rear axle, is that it's
going to be a benefit for those who would go off road
and those who would tow.
Off road, you might drag the rear bumper through a gully.
But towing, it might be a driveway.
So either way, the shorter rear overhang
is a real benefit to the Passport.
Sitting in the Passport, you could
swear you were in a Honda Pilot, except it
has a lot more sporty vibe.
There's perforated leather here.
The seat perforations look different.
The headliner is black.
And overall, the whole interior just looks a little tougher,
even though all the surfaces are much the same
as you would see in a Pilot.
The main difference between the Passport and Pilot,
at least on the inside, is there isn't a third row.
This is a two row vehicle that seats five people.
But it's got the same headroom and leg room,
the same adjustable rear seat.
It's really nice.
It's available in sport, EXL, touring, and elite trim levels.
The top three of those come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The Passport can tow up to 5,000 pounds
with the optional tow package, which includes a trailer
hitch, extra cooling, and a seven pin wiring harness that
will support electronic brakes.
You have to add your own electronic brake controller,
but it is pre-wired to make that easy.
The 2019 Honda Passport is a midsize SUV
for those who think the Honda CRV is just a little
too small and underpowered.
It's got the engine and interior space of a Honda Pilot,
but in a smaller package that's more well suited to those
with an active lifestyle.

2019 Honda Passport - First Look - Duration: 3:55.
We're getting a sneak peek of the all-new Honda Passport.
If that name sounds familiar to you then that means you were born before 1990. If
not Google it. We can't drive it yet, but we can touch it. We can get in it. We can
probably lick it if we ask them to, but that would be weird.
So why don't we just look at it. If you think it's sort of looks like a Pilot
you're not wrong. So how is it different than the Pilot? Excellent question. The
Passport is six-inches shorter, but it's got the same wheelbase as the Pilot,
which means great interior space. The Passport's got more ground clearance than
the pilot, 8.4 inches on the all-wheel drive model to be exact.
More ground clearance means less scraping and bumping of the underbelly
when driving over stuff. It also comes standard with bigger wheels - yes they
look great but also they're better for grabbing at terrain when driving over
stuff. Hey, I'm starting to sense a theme here. Okay so we think what Honda's
saying is that the Passport is going to be pretty good on dirt. Now while it's
not 4x4 capable, it does have some pretty good off-road tools. It's available with
the same all-wheel-drive option as the Pilot that includes Honda's active
torque vectoring system that sends up to 70-percent of engine torque to the rear axle
and 100-percent of that torque to either the left or right rear wheels
when needed. There's also a four-mode traction management system that will
adjust the independent suspension and chassis settings for snow, mud or sand
The Passport was tested in the desert sands of Dubai and the tundra of Norway.
Hey, why couldn't we have done this there? Not invited.
The only engine option on the Passport is the same 3.5-liter V6 that's in the
Pilot, but again because this is smaller we anticipate that it will be quicker.
That's solid math right there. The interior is virtually the same as the
Pilot. Same. Same. Same. Same. Same. Same. The Passport has a generous cargo area
behind both second and first rows and those seats are easy to fold down.
There's also a large underfloor storage area here, and if you're prone to going
out and getting muddy there's a removable plastic bin in here that you
can take out and wash, so you can put all your gross stuff in here. That's
thoughtful. The Passport will be offered in four trims; Sport, the upgraded EX-L, a
high-tech, Touring trim and the fully equipped Elite. All models except the
line-topping Elite can be configured with two or all-wheel drive and that's
just because on the Elite all-wheel drive comes standard. Honda Sensing, Honda's
suite of safety features comes standard across the board. Safety ratings, pricing
and fuel economy numbers aren't available as of the making of this video,
but here are some current numbers for the Pilot and the CR-V, so it's probably a
safe bet that the Passport's numbers will be somewhere between those. That's more
good math. Deliveries are expected to start in early 2019. Does the world need
another midsize SUV? Maybe, maybe not, but the Honda Passport is here, and it seems
like this baby may be able to take you to some places you can't be piloted.

Honda Talon Walk Around - Duration: 5:23.
Often times it's ideal to have the "best of both worlds", like Honda's Pioneer line up.
Amazing work machines, that are also lots of fun on the trails.
But sometimes, you just want the absolute best of one world.
Meet the 2019 Honda Talon 1000 X.
Drawing on Honda's years of experience with the rugged Pioneer side by sides,
and incredible CRF dirt bike line up,
it won't be long before this new sport SXS puts its mark on one other key element of the Honda brand.
Racing Heritage.
Honda engineers have built the Talon to be the total package;
they didn't just chase specs that look good on paper.
So whether you're a trail person, more of a rock crawler,
or maybe whoops and berms on the race track are your thing… you'll find what you need in this machine.
Lets take a closer look starting with the styling.
The Talon 1000X is a completely new design,
resisting the temptation to simply make it a "sport" version of the Pioneer,
the new Talon takes many of its form cues from the Honda CRF dirt bike line up.
From every angle dynamic lines highlight it's aggressive stance,
and huge wheel wells show off the Fox Podium 2.0 shocks,
that instantly make you aware of just how capable this machine is.
Plus, super bright LEDs are perfect for those evening rides.
Powering the Talon 1000X is a 999cc, quick revving, inline twin.
Some of you will immediately connect that this isn't Honda's only 999cc engine,
it builds on years of experience with the Pioneer and the Africa Twin.
But, this engine has been refined, tuned and essentially purpose built for the Talon.
Engineers have also adopted the Unicam head design from the CRF motocross bikes,
and have tuned the exhaust to create a sound you have to hear to believe – especially when it's at full throttle.
Plus all the power, torque and of course legendary reliability you'd expect from a Honda engine.
Connected to that 999cc engine is a fully automatic 6 speed Dual Clutch Transmission.
One that is smart… really smart.
For example, the computer in this transmission uses throttle position and input,
RPMs, speed and brake input, to determine what kind of driving you're doing, and it adjusts accordingly!
So if you're in a low throttle situation, more of a relaxed ride, you'll find smooth shifts, at lower RPMs,
which keeps it a little more quite in the cabin, and with less vibration.
But the opposite is also true – if you're out for an aggressive ride, you'll find quick shifts,
at higher RPMs to maximize torque and power.
And don't forget about that exhaust note I mentioned earlier.
You can also manually control this with the Sport Mode Switch, which allows you to change modes on the fly!
For those of you that like a little more control, the steering wheel mounted paddle shifters
allow you to instantly override the automatic transmission, to gear up or down,
and then, once you're out of the corner or you've passed your buddy,
it will seamlessly drop back into full automatic mode.
Of course for those of you that like to take complete control
you can switch the Talon over to full Manual mode.
I imagine some of you super-sport riders will like that.
Finally there's the i-4WD – which gives you intelligent traction control for any situation;
and there's loads of technology built into this.
Including brake traction control,
which will actually brake an individual wheel giving you greater traction and increased performance.
I mean, you can't always rely on all 4 wheels being on exactly the same type of surface.
Next, electronic brake-force distribution – this adjusts the braking force on the rear brakes as needed.
Now what's important, is that it makes slowing down or coming to a stop more efficient and more stable.
Now for those of you that are going to find yourself on steep hills – the Talon also has Hill Start Assist.
Which will hold brake pressure as you go to accelerate – so no more two footing it!
Lastly, you can easily switch from 2-wheel drive to 4-wheel drive with just the push of a button.
The seats in the Talon are cut contrast deep bucket seats that are comfortable, secure and supportive.
The sort of thing you'd look for in a Sport SXS.
Plus the pass throughs allow for a 4-point harness system – for you serious drivers.
And as the driver, you need to be in the perfect position and you need to stay there,
no matter what you're going over, so this seat features a robust automotive grade adjuster.
Sort of what you'd expect from an auto manufacturer.
Plus there is an adjustable steering wheel that tilts for easy entry and exit.
Speaking of which, the hard doors with nets allow for very easy one-handed operation…
Though you may never want to get out.
Now check this out, the passenger grab handle has a "quick adjust" mechanism,
which allows you to adjust and lock it into virtually any position.
Super important because this is just as much fun for your passengers, and you want them to feel secure.
But there's a second benefit to this engineering marvel.
Locking the bar into position like this...
means that there's no play. So no rattle, or vibration.
Finally, we know that many of you will want to take your Talon 1000X and make it your own.
You can do this with a host of accessories, including things like roofs, cabs,
covers, winches, body protection, lighting, storage, and cargo options.
Okay, so who's ready for some rock crawling? Opening up on a long trail?
Or maybe you just really like sand in your teeth after a long day at the track!
Be the first to experience the Honda Talon 1000X.
