BMW Key Fob Battery Replacement - Duration: 2:58.
Well it looks like the battery is gone on my fob. Okay well if you watched the
last video you know these things have a lot of power behind them, tucked away in
these little keys, but I'm going to show you today how to replace the battery in
this fob, because for obvious reasons this fob is now dead. The battery is toast and
I'm going to show you how to fix that. So you need to change the battery in your
2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, or 2011 BMW. Is it a one series, three, five,
seven? Yeah this will work in all of those models. So what we have is a pretty
typical key fob here and you'll notice there's certain variations, different
styles, this one here actually has the split on the back. This one's a little
easier to work with than the other one. The other one is a common common back it
doesn't have this separation, but for now we'll talk about this one. Pretty
straightforward. So what you'll do, you press this little button, and then you
pull that out. That's the insert for the actual spare key for the door. Don't need
that right now, but you need to take that out to gain access. So now what you do is
you take your flat blade screwdriver, you insert it in that little slot between
this tab, and there, do this in warmer weather, and be careful so you're not
going to break this tab off. Otherwise this key fob will be toast.
So you pry that in there. I'm going to hold this back so it doesn't spring open, and
just give it a little twist, the battery of course was spring-loaded, so it came out.
So here we take this out and lo and behold, we have the battery. This is a
cr2032 and it is pretty common, so very easy to find in stores.
So what we'll do is we'll slide it, we'll pretend that we'll discard that in
the appropriate recycle bin. We will reinsert a new battery, make sure
it fits between those two tabs, it's got to fit between those two fingers. There
and then underneath that lip, so let's move in there, and now what we do is we
grab the cover and we put the cover back down. Start on that edge and snap it in,
and now it's tight on all corners. Restore this back to its rightful spot
and now you have a functioning key fob. I hope that helped everybody, very
straightforward job, not daunting and don't worry about pulling a battery. You
do not need to get this key re-coded or re-flashed. It's ready to go and there's
no issues. This will now go and unlock the door on my car. So please everybody, make
